US Embassy throws competition for ‘shared values’ mural

The US Embassy in Israel is conducting an art competition, in which artists from Israel offer a mural that depicts the shared values of Israel and the US; the winner will receive $10,000 in addition to the embassy covering their art supplies.

The US Embassy has invited any person who considers themselves artistically inclined to submit proposals for a mural that will be set up outside the American Culture Center in Jerusalem. The winner will receive a cash prize of $10,000 and get reimbursed for their art supplies by the embassy.

The embassy explained that the project is supposed to represent that ideals and value shared by both countries, while emphasizing the diversity held within US and Israeli cultures.

An open house will take place at the center on September 4, where those interested could assess the space for the intended mural. You can submit your nomination until September 16, and a selection will be made on September 21.

The mural is asked to be three by five meters. A representation of the final project can be sent by email to: americancenterjerusalem@state.gov and more information is available at this link.
