Governor: NY transportation security tightened as precaution
Commissioner James O'Neill says the New York Police Department is closely monitoring developments in the London subway explosion and the governor says transportation security has been beefed up as a precaution.
O'Neill said on Twitter on Friday that there've been no direct threats to New York City. But he says people should always be vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, says he's directed state law enforcement to increase transportation security across New York "out of an abundance of caution." That includes airports, bridges, tunnels and mass transit systems.
