UN ambassadors wish Israel a happy new year

The US ambassador to the United Nations joined other ambassadors and wished Israel and the Jews on a happy new year ahead of Rosh Hashanah.

US Ambassador Nikki Haley, who over the past year has repeatedly defended Israel in the organization's institutions, welcomed Israel on Wednesday with a New Year's greeting on Rosh Hashanah, alongside many other ambassadors of UN states.

"Happy New Year to all of our friends, wether it is in the United States, Israel or around the globe," Haley said, adding: "Shana Tova" (Happy New Year in Hebrew)."We wish you health, happiness and peace. God bless."

US President Donald Trump also sent his warm regards, saying in a video message released Monday "on behalf of all Americans," that he wishes " Jewish families many blessings in the new year."

Trump went on to praise the "incredible character and spirit of the Jewish people," and ended by reaffirming "the unbreakable bond between the United States and Israel."
