US to 'monitor improvement in humanitarian conditions' following Gaza reconciliation deal
The American State Department said the US would "monitor" improvements in humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip following the signing of a reconciliation agreement between Hamas and Fatah regarding handover of the strip's civilian administration to the Palestinian unity government.
"We salute the Palestinian Authority's efforts to regain full control over Gaza. This is an important step towards improving the residents' humanitarian conditions, and through the PA, Israel and international donors, we'll be able to improve it further," the State Department said.
