The Haifa District Court sentenced Wisam Zabidat, a Sakhnin resident who joined the Islamic State along with his wife and three children, to five years and ten months in prison.

This marks the longest prison sentence an Israeli citizen has received for joining the Islamic State.

In addition, the court ordered him to pay an NIS 14,000 fine. Zabidat was convicted of membership in a terrorist organization, membership in disallowed group, prohibited military training and contact with foreign agents.
