A 70-year-old woman was found drowned in the Yarkon River Tuesday morning, near Tel Aviv's Bnei Dan Street. Magen David Adom and police forces were called to the scene to extract her from the water.
Police have begun investigating the woman's death. Foul play is not suspected at this stage.
A member of a nearby rowing club was the first to notice the body and call for help.
"When we arrived on the scene we found a woman unconscious in the river. Several people got down on the water line and with the help of a civilian aboard a kayak we were able to take the unconscious 70 year old female to the bank. She was without vital signs and we pronounced her death shortly thereafter," recounted Magen David Adom paramedic Lior Marmelstein.
