US congress, Knesset sign declaration saying only Palestinian recognition in Israel will end the conflict
About 20 members of the US Congress and Israeli Knesset members signed a declaration that presents principles of a new approach that will bring an end to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.
According to the statement, "the main obstacle to resolving the conflict is the Palestinian's refusal to recognize the right of the Jewish people to self-determination," and that "only Palestinian recognition of the historic connection of the Jewish people to Israel and recognition of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state will end the conflict."
