Report: PM's attorney Shimron rejected offer to become state witness

After Shimron's client, businessman Miki Ganor, signed a state witness agreement, police reportedly tried to reach similar deals with other major suspects in the submarine affair.

David Shimron, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cousin and personal lawyer, has reportedly been offered by police to become a state witness in the submarine affair, according to Channel 2 News.

According to the report on Sunday, Shimron, one of the main suspects in the case, declined the offer.

Police are investigating corruption suspicions surrounding the procurement of submarines and patrol ships for Israel's Navy from German conglomerate ThyssenKrupp. Shimron provided legal representation to businessman Miki Ganor, who was ThyssenKrupp's representative in Israel

Ganor, who signed a state witness agreement, has been providing investigators with information and documents, which led police to question at length both Shimron and his partner, attorney Itzhak Molcho, also a close associate of the prime minister.

While Netanyahu is not a suspect in the case, police officials said he is likely to be asked to testify.

Police officials said Sunday there were attempts to reach deals with all of the suspects under investigation.
