Knesset report: half of all women murdered by spouses complained to police

The Knesset Research and Information Center published a report as part of marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in parliament. The report shows that out of all the criminal cases opened in the past decade for attempts to murder women, only 71 of them—or 30 percent—saw indictments being served.

Furthermore, while during 2007-2016 35 percent of women killed by their spouses complained to the police of domestic abuse, during 2015-2016 the rate of women murdered by their spouses and complained to the police rose to nearly half, and was five of every 11 women murdered in that time span.
