COGAT: 'Cutting economic aid to Palestinians will increase dependency on Israel'
Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories Maj.-Gen. Yoav Mordechai spoke during the Globes business convention in Jerusalem and said that the Palestinian economy has an existential dependency on Israel, and thus cutting external aid will only increase that dependency.
Changes to the Palestinian economy will have ramifications on issues of public health, Mordechai added, saying, "The virus won't stop at the checkpoint. If Gaza is disarmed, a policy of infrastructure and port development will replace the arms."
