Iranian wrestler suspended after deliberately losing to avoid Israeli opponent
The United World Wrestling organization has suspended Iranian wrestler Alireza Karimi for six months on Friday after he deliberately lost the quarter final of his under-86 kilograms freestyle contest at the 2017 Under-23 World Championships in Bydgoszcz to avoid having to face an Israeli opponent.
His coach, Hamidreza Jamshidi, received a two-year suspension.
