UTJ to PM Netanyahu: 'Push through draft bill or we'll withdraw from coalition'

The United Torah Judaism parliamentary faction demanded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speed along the completion of legislation on the draft bill to provide exemptions to Haredim from IDF service, approved in a preliminary Knesset reading two months ago.

It was noted in the faction's letter to the premier that according to agreements, the legislation process should have been concluded within 30 days of the opening of the Knesset's summer session, a time period that is concluding soon.

"Needless to say, without the article in the coalition agreement on the status of yeshiva students we would not be part of this coalition, and that is precisely what we were told to do going forward," the letter said.
