Police Commissioner Roni Alsheikh commented on the claim of a human rights activist who alleged police brutality, and said the police will take the requisite measures when the Police Investigations Unit concludes its inquiry.
"It was a highly violent riot," Alsheikh added. "An entire pedestrian mall turned into a battlefield. Throwing stones at cops—that's not legitimate protest, even in a tolerant democracy. Of course force was used. Were boundaries breached? If that turns out to be the case, we will deal with it harshly."
