President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel were speaking to reports Wednesday after bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Brussels.
Merkel said she looks forward to future exchanges with Trump because they are partners.
Trump said the meeting was "great", adding that the US has "a tremendous relationship with Germany".
After asserting earlier Wednesday that Germany is "totally controlled" by and "captive to Russia" because of a pipeline project, Trump told reporters that the pair discussed the pipeline during their meeting, but did not elaborate.
Among subjects raised in their meeting, they discussed migration, economic development, the Russia-Germany gas pipeline, military spending, and trade.
