Palestinian sources: Egypt has contacted Hamas to halt escalation

Palestinian sources told Ynet Saturday that the Egyptian intelligence had contacted the Hamas leadership in an attempt to halt escalation in the strip.

The talks are held via deputy Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya and one of the members of the leadership Ruhi Mushtaha who are currently in Cairo as part of the talks that were held during the past week about the revival of the reconciliation process between Hamas and Fatah.

More than 50 code red rocket-alert sirens were sounded Saturday afternoon across the Gaza border communities.
