State Comptroller: Country not prepared for major earthquake

The State Comptroller, retired judge Yosef Shapira, published on Tuesday a report that criticizes Israel's preparedness level for emergency situations such as earthquakes.

The report indicates that hundreds of thousands of structures, including schools, hospitals and bridges, have not yet been upgraded despite the government orders to do so.

The comptroller also emphasizes that in case of a major earthquake, shortages of water, electricity and fuel are also very likely to occur.
