Supreme Court: Contractor who wouldn't sell to Arabs must pay compensation

The Supreme Court rejects an appeal from a construction company that was ordered to pay compensation after refusing to sell an apartment in the Pisgat Ze'ev neighborhood of Jerusalem to a couple from the Arab sector.

According to the ruling, equality is a fundamental value in any democratic construct that respects human rights, and without which a society cannot be considered democratic.

Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit delivered to the court his own position on the matter, stating that every private contractor who builds and sells on state land is obligated to practice equality.
