Netanyahu, Gantz trade blows over Gaza on eve of elections

Just hours before the polls open, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Blue and White leader Benny Gantz trade verbal blows over reports that Israel planned a strong response to last week's rocket fire on Ashkelon and Ashdod from Gaza, but that the operation was ultimately canceled.

"Netanyahu has removed any ambiguity over his political needs, now he has lost it and wanted to drag us into war in order to postpone the elections," Gantz said.

Netanyahu fired back: "We have prepared for every scenario, including the possibility that Islamic Jihad and Hamas would disrupt the elections with rocket fire on our cities, and we planned a sharp response. But I will choose the timing for the start of the campaign we have planned, the correct date and not one minute before. Benny Gantz, you should be ashamed."
