To me these guys are pretty explicitly saying they want to kill a bunch of non-muslims & that they want their religion to dominate the world. The media or anyone else isn't to blame for what they're saying. When a group names itself "Islamic Jihad", and the every time you hear about them is just after an act of murder and terrorism, it assicates the words "Islamic" & "Jihad" with murder & terrorism. Who's fault is that? Is it theirs for naming themselves that & then commiting murder & terrorism, or 'The Media' for reporting what they're doing? Remember, if it bleeds, it leads, so you're never going to hear the story about how the Mosque down the street had a really good Friday sermon this time or how many kids got candy at Eid festival this year, but you're always going to hear about the suicide bomber. I understand why you'd be a bit defensive about this stuff, & I appreciate the advice to talk to muslims to clear up misconceptions about the religion, but the fact of the matter is that people either already have their religion, or aren't particularly interested in any religion, so it's not really what people want to know. People don't mind or care too much what Islam normally teaches, and they don't care who is or isn't Muslim. They do care when they keep hearing stuff from people like the ones in this news article. The key is to not let them set the agenda or your image & to let us know we're all on the same side.
