Most of the references to God's wrath in dividing up the lands of Israel are in the Old Testament of the Bible. It has nothing to do with Jesus. God was predicting the end of days as retribution for dividing up His lands, and for those that do not believe in Him, long before He sent His Son to save us from our sins. Many of us are conflicted over these scriptures due to our personal vision of fairness and the teachings of Jesus Christ . He did not repudiate anything regarding the territory of Israel that I am aware of. Still, what political leaders do for short term peace is not one of those subjects addressed, unless someone wants to make something out of the "render unto Caesar what is Caesars', and to God, what is Gods'." Some use that comment to cover a whole lot of stuff. I am sure New Testament scholars will take me to task if this is incorrect! So, I am praying for the health and well-being of Arik Sharon who has shown such devotion to his country and it's people. Obviously his own change of heart came because he wants peace for Israel and has undertaken the path he sees as the way to it. Pat Robertson has actually done more for the State of Israel despite his penchant for shooting off his mouth. No doubt he sees that as his job, but he obviously has no short term goals in mind for Israel, nor do the Orthodox rabbi's there. The word of God is just that no matter how we would like it otherwise. Now if God wants to do something really useful He could strike dead the President of Iran.

Learn the truth that salvation is a gift given strictly to whom the Father sees fit. Pat Robertson is not a messenger of G-d but simply a person that has profited financially from the misery of others and through trickery of scamming. The amazing thing is that during the leadership rein of men like Pat Robertson and James Dobson, the only people that benefited from their instruction is themselves. Christaindom has been duped by Pat Robertson and men promoting the freudian gospel such as James Dobson.

Mr. Robertson, regardless to what your critics say, stay strong and continue to speak out in truth according to the Word of G_d. It is proclaimed in the Scriptures that G_d is in enmity against those who divide His land. Whether the athetists or those who are accustomed to having their ears tinkled by what , liberal preachers spread, does not change G_d's world not one jot or tittle. Therefore, I will continue to pray for you ( Mr. Robertson) that you do not faint while doing what is correct in G_d's eyes according to His Holy Scriptures. I will also pray for those, Jews and Gentiles who do not know or will not accept the truth according to G_d's word. One last recommendation for all the critics of Mr. Robertson: Don't just read the Bible (all 66 books), but study to show your selves approved before you criticize a messager of G_d. I challenge you all to review the Old Covenant scriptures that describes what befell those that harshly criticized G_d's messengers. And, lastly, me Robetson also spoke out against the U.S. pressuring Israel to give up the Gaza Strip. Don't forget Katrina and the other devasting hurricanes that hit the U.S. Gulf coast. G_d's word will not return to Him void. He will not be mocked!

Werner - People are upset with Pat Robertson becuase he twists Scripture to fit his worldview. He holds himself out as a prophet and diviner of G-D's intentions - this is pure witchcraft and offensive to many people. So you shouldn't be surprised. His simplistic statements show either a lack of knowledge of the history and language of the Bible (as opposed to the English translation which is not perfect) or a deliberate attempt to use the words of the Bible for his own means. Pretending to know exactly why G-D does something or allows something to happen is hubris and should almost always be condemned as false prophecy. His particular statement about G-D's displeasure witht the Gaza withdrawal also makes G-D out to be a patsy of interests other than His Own - i.e., if G-D didn't want the Gaza withdrawal, He could have incapacitated Mr. Sharon earlier, He could have caused Mr. Netanyahu to be in power earlier or He could have caused all of the Palestinians to volutarily leave the area or convert to Judaism. The punishment after the fact shows a weak and ineffectual god, not an omnicient and all-powerful G-D. So, just his interpretation of G-D's intent is offensive to those who believe that G-D does not always reveal His intentions to humankind - and certainly not only to Pat Robertson.

It is unfortunate that in a free society it is often those who have the most outrageous things to say who get the attention, and not those who say things that may actually be meaningful. It is also sad and pathetic that Pat Robertson, like our President, seems to believe that only his view of the world is what God wants; not the kind of attitude one might hope for from a country who is trying to promote freedom - and an open society that can exist peacefully amongst each other. In the past, Robertson has said that fires in Florida were God's punishment for a gay pride rally (although all of the people affected by the tragedy were elderly heterosexuals - many quite Christian) and that New Orleans was washed out because it was a city filled with sin - although the French Quarter was the one part of town least affected. His recent remarks advocating the assasination of foreign leaders have hopefully revealed this sad man to be a lunatic who speaks only for himself, not America. Please, World, forgive us - we must allow him freedom to say what he wants even when it is unforgivable. Prime Minister Sharon has the sympathies and the prayers of many more Americans who are not gullible enough to be viewers of Robertson's twisted pronouncements.

As a Christian I have a love for the Jewish people and the land of Israel that words cannot adequately describe. The hostility and allegations voiced here by some against Christians have no foundation in reality. Whether Sharon`s medical condition is a judgment from G-d it is not for me to say. I can but pray for Arik`s full recovery and that his eyes be opened to the truth of G-d`s Word. The Hebrew/Christian Scriptures are explicit in relation to the consequences of what they describe as the dividing up of G-d`s Land, which He has given to the Jewish people as an everlasting inheritance. Touch the apple of God's eye and the curse happens. Gaza pullout initiated on the ninth of Av (Tisha B' Av) with voluntary evacs. Two weeks later to the day, New Orleans under voluntary evac., etc., etc., etc. Rabin shot two weeks after Rabbi group in Israel places curse on him. Same Rabbi group cursed Sharon recently. That is totally unfair and uncalled for. While I agree that occassionally Robertson does make ill-considered and foolish pronouncements, he is vehemently in support of Israel and the Jews, and his bona fides on this subject are unquestionable. Now hear this, all Israeli critics of American Christian Conservatives: 1. Robertson, to his credit, did also harshly criticize the Bush Administration for sending "one red cent" In Robertson's own words, of aid to the Palestinigoon "Authority". He has not solely been critical of Sharon's withdrawl only. 2. Robertson was/is a personal friend of Sharon and 90% of Robertson's remarks regarding Mr. Sharon are praiseworthy. While the other 10% are poorly timed and this particular remark was REALLY ill-considered, keep that in mind. 3. Nor are American Conservatives and Christians supporters of Israel solely or even chiefly because of our interpretations of the Good Book. There are far more temporal reasons to support Israel than spiritual ones: --Israel is an outpost of Western Civilization in a region of barbarism. --Israel was a steadfast ally in cold war days. --Our heads are on the Islamic chopping block as much as yours are; you just happen to be further ahead in line. Seriously, Jews / Zionists / Israelis are not just pawns in Robertson's or any other evangelical Christian's cosmology. There is much more to it than that.

The media reported that the Evangelicals were going to help the people of Gush Katif by coming to Gaza and making it their residence. They did nothing to help but blamed Sharon. The Evangelicals and Jews are responsible for this disaster. After 2000 years of Christian persecution they and only they must fix it now. Stop blaming Sharon. You have supported Israel and I thank you from the bottom of my heart but you must do much much more. That is a nice start but what are you going to do next. Religion, especially the three major, related faiths that we deal with today (Christianity, Islam, Judaism), is the number one cause of murder and death IN THE WORLD. It likely outperforms all forms of disease, and is definitely the cause of the greatest number of wars in our history. God is a joke; if he were so good and powerful, why the hell would he set the world up in such a way that people kill each other over their arguments of what he is? God is, at most, a mysterious, maybe unconcious force in our universe which has somehow lead to the creation of everything we have. God is not some holy, blessed, all-loving supernatural being. I can't stand all of this confict anymore. If even HALF of the energy spent on killing each other was spent on actually DEBATING the nature of God and the universe in which we live, just IMAGINE what sort of world we would live in now. This world, and all of the RELIGIONS in it, needs to learn the value of respect. We need to respect each other for their beliefs, not try to enforce our worldview on ohers. I think everyone who believes in ANYTHING too blindly or fanatically will find themselves burning in hell (should one really exist) instead of basking in the light of their god. Why? Because 'God' would in no way condone what you all are doing.
