Absolute rubbish. Israel has no regard for civilian life. Getting off on a technicality is still morally wrong. This war was planned for september and the israeli soldiers were an excuse to begin it. Israel is not only putting its own people at risk but the whole of the western world. Extremism will be strengthened and hezbollah support will grow because of their stupid actions.
33. Lebanese Government sacrifices its own citizens
Ami   (07.30.06)
In a report by the BBC we were shown that it costs US$35 for a place on a bus or US$400 for a taxi from S. Lebanon to Beirut. They go on to say that some people cannot afford to pay this price to escape from the the Israeli bombings. Why is it that from all over the world citizens are evacuated, but the Lebanese Government does nothing to evacuate its own people from S. Lebanon. In such a situation the Government should be organising convoys to help its citizens take refuge in safer parts of the country. The fact is that the Lebanese government is doing nothing to evacuate S. Lebabnon - I WOULD LIKE TO ASK WHY?

Michael ,   Chicago, USA   (07.30.06)
How is it that this man can stand with the the USA and other country's in discussions in Rome and then speak out of the other side of his mouth? The man is thanking Hizbullah! Lebanon was cruising along with a healthy, reinvigorated economy, but did nothing to stop the loonies from Hizbullah from shooting rockets at innocents! The Lebananese have no one but themselves to blame for the mess they are in. Until, they realize that Israel is there to stay, then they will suffer. Nasrallah is a repulsive, murderous, war mongering lunatic. He is no man of god. Shame on him and all the anti Israel and Anti Semites of the world. I hope the Jews in Iran are ok. No one talks of them. I hope they all make Aliyah soon, before it is too late...if it is not already.
36. PM needs to go
Jesus ,   SF, USA   (07.30.06)
To the Lebanese people...Is there no one that will stand up against Hizbullah and your crooked PM? Everyone knows that this PM is a puppet. . The Lebanese PM is a coward to allow the Lebonese to suffer. People with power need to give the power to the citizens. Sadly, he has no power therefor the people of Lebanon have no power. Hizbullah has the power and I highly doubt they will give it up to the real people. I call upon the one that will liberate Lebanon from Hizbullah. Is there not a man or woman or child that will open up the people's eyes and show the reality of Hizbullah and what the terrorist group is doing to them? It will not be easy, but for one moment, imagine the possibility of living in your country free from terror. There was someone here that stated that Lebanon had to choose to be hit by Hizbullah or Israel. Now, be objective and concentrate on my next question. Before all this, was Israel bombing Lebanon? 3 seconds to answer...1....3....time's up. The answer is, "No!" Israel was not boming Lebanon, but the people of Lebanon were and still are hostages of Hizbullah. What government makes its citizens put up pictures of terrorist in their homes or end up being killed if they refused? People of Lebanon I empower you to wage war against Hizbullah and reform your government. Stand up for your country! Stand up for your families. It is not Israel you must fight...It is your government and the ones holding you hostage. Fight back for your life! I know people here that read this will probably say I know nothing or even call you traitors for such a thought. But then, you must wonder...why are THEY trying to take away your power to stand up for what you love. Your life.

As i see israeli people love war and love killing others. From the way i see things i feel sorry for. this country will never have peace. if Hizballah will be terninated , there will be always people making bombs inside israel and the war won't stop. Seek for peace once ...

39. 29: state terrorism, heard of it?
Lina ,   France-Liban   (07.30.06)
what a speech!who is destructing a complete country?and destroying the infrastructure? where is the biggest number of civilians killed?more then 700 civilians killed, was it in israel? no of course not, it is in lebanon. who is using the population to make lebanon approve a un resolution, USA and israel.. being a country , does not allow you to kill 700 civilians, this is called state terrorism. YES TERRORISM. shall i also remind you of Qana 1996? when you killed 105 persons deliberatly? and you know what, it is not hizbollah who attacked civilians first, hizbollah kidnapped SOLDIERS, and soldiers are not civilians.thus this act is no terrorism. israel started bombarding, and killing people. hizbollah is the resistance whether you like it or no. resitance against a country who only dreams of more land and more water. anyway, whether we win or not at the end we are proud of our resitance and of our people. we are the only country who kicked you out of its territories. one last thing, if you want to talk about un resolutions why don't u talk about UN resolution 242. Long Live Lebanon.
40. This Siniora fellow is pathetic!
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (07.30.06)
He kneels befor the very individual who brought destruction all upon the country he, Siniora, is supposed to command!! He gladly and proudly acknowledges the failure of Lebanon as a State, this mockery of a country whose government deliberately refuses to impose sovereignity over all its Southern half and, in a disgusting act of cowardice, allows a terrorist group to make it a Hizballand!!! Mr Siniora, you are frankly a revolting, pathetic figure, you make me sick you your hypocrisy, your weakling!!!!!!!
41. Siniora is a Fool!
stude ham ,   outremont, canada   (07.30.06)
Siniora could have avoided this tragic war with Israel had he taken any measure that could have restrained nazi-rallah and his hezzies. Instead he just stood by and let these Iranian proxies do their worst. This now is the result and the blood is on his hands. He can thank anyone he desires but he is a fool and an idiot for ever having allowed these terrorists free rein on lebanon's soil!
42. Re Shai and Lina
Ihab   (07.30.06)
Shai, we have every reason to resist Israel : 1- What about the demages we incurred during the 82 invasion, the 96 garpes of wrath and so amny other ones? 2- Do not ever think or even consider that Lebanese buy out the "victimized" role of Israel. You are showing us everytime what state you are. 3- terrorism applies to a state also. Take notes : Pinochet's government was a terrorist state, red Khmeir was also. To be argumentative, if states can never be terrorists why did you push so hard for the ondemnation of Libya, Iran , PA and many other states? 4- INtentionally you target civilians. in 96, you hit the Qana. Two days you have hit a UN post. today Qana. If all of this unintentionally you better check the sight of your pilots . What about sabra and Chatila, what MOhamad Durra, what about Hala whose family died in Gaza on the beach. Nobody discovered on her family WMD or chemical weapons or ballistic missiles under their clothes. 5- THe UN resolutions ? for 25 years resolution 425 you did not comply for it. Only the resistance got you outside our country. So many UN resolutions you did not respect. 6- By the way, the resolution 1559 was buried under that same building in Qana today. You united the Lebanese. 7- I wish you can have a little bit of civilized tone when you are addressing another one's opinion. Or is Lina also a terrorist with BAD BAD intentions that you revealed through the font she uses and her paragraph 's structure? Lina, Lebanon is rebuilt already through its unity. And even we lost the Tourism saeson we replaced it with the heroism season 8- Finally, I wish Ahronot post this reply.
43. Why didn't they evacuate?
Sound of Reason   (07.30.06)
Oh, may be because you bombed all the bridges and the roads? Oh may be because when they did evacuate from Marwaheen, your proud (=big muscles no brains) IAF hit their car and killed 23 people in one hit? Or may be because u have been bombing everything that moves on the roads in the south from passenger cars to trucks, even Red Cross and Fire Fighters vehicles? You still wonder why they didn't evacuate? It is time for the Israeli public to face realities and stop running forward. 19 days of intense bombing and ground invasion and you haven't been able to lower the number of rockets fired on Israel by one!!! You are fighting a loosing war. Stop and think of your strategies again. You have rallied entire Lebanon behind Hizbullah, which is totally opposit of what the situation was on july 12.
44. SINIORA
democrat ,   south africa   (07.30.06)
Siniora is weak and afraid of Hizbollah, or he would not have complimented them. He has not protected his people from terrorism. He must go.
45. To Lina (La France or Le Liban?), #39
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (07.30.06)
I will not comment your hollow bravados and your weak arguments, but there is a point that deserve some thought: before asking about UN Resolution 242, let me know what you and the citizens of your pseudo-country (what else do you call a country who deliberately chooses not to have sovereignity upon half of its nominal territory?): what about the mother of all UN Resolutions, the one taken in 1947 about the partition of Palestine, fully accepted by Jews but totally rejected by Arabs? Yes, this rejection is the immediate cause on the 1948 war and all the Arab-Israeli conflict!! Look yourself in the mirror before posting things that are not exactly true - to say the least!!!
46. Now he remember?
me   (07.30.06)
"He said that "in order to reach a general ceasefire Israel must pull back to its borders. Then, Lebanon will fulfill its obligations according to the seven clauses approved by the government." "Among others, the Lebanese government committed itself to an immediate ceasefire, the deployment of its army across all of Lebanon including the south, and the applying of a law according to which only the Lebanese army can carry weapons across the whole of the country. " The BIG question is, why haven't you done it before?, why stupid f**ks like you only learn the hard way?. You could have saved many lives of innocents on both sides and save a huge amount of money for both countries if you only you were a little smart. Unfortunately that is the only way you understand and when you play with fire you get burnt
47. Sue (32)
Shai ,   Israel   (07.30.06)
Who do you know who died in Jenin instead of carpet bombing them? Who do you know that put their life on the line in ground operations to avoid the death of civilians? How many CIVILIANS do you know who have been split limb from limb by the blast of a suicide bomber? I venture not a single one. So, not having ventured to gain peace, don't weigh the pain of Israelis of what we lost to Arab extremism, and don't give me your ethics lessons about "regard for civilian life", you have nothing to teach me. That this war was planned in advance is a problem? I see from this you are also a half wit, aside from being amoral. All wars are planned on contingency. Unfortunately, the Hizbollah has given many reasons to believe that their kidnapping 2 soldiers was highly feasible. No doubt we acted on plans that were planned in advance, and that's why we will win. Your comment that our actions strengthen Hizbollah extremism is laughable. They didn't need us before to be extreme, they won't need us now. The western world, who stands idle at the threat of Iranian nuclear weapons, who stood silent while we absorbed Hizbollah attacks even after we withdrew from Lebanon and after their passing UNSCR 1559, who stand silent when we withdrew from Gaza, can solve the problem thier lethargy caused. I have no obligations to them, neither does our country.
49. What else could he say
Johnson ,   USA   (07.30.06)
I mean seriously if he'd said any different he'd lose his head, and his family would be killed.
50. IDF: Strike all of Lebanon
Mark ,   USA   (07.30.06)
Destroy the Lebanese army and all of Hizballah. Go deep into Lebanon. Siniora is a liar! He clearly wants war. The Lebanese are willing collaboraters with Hizballah.
51. To 42
Shai ,   Israel   (07.30.06)
1- Your damage was caused by harboring the PLO, which caused us damage that you did nothing about. 2- I'd rather you be the victim than Israel. You play it so well. 3- No, rules of war apply to a state. States can commit murder. They can commit war crimes. There are states who have proxies that are not states who can commit terrorism, such as Libya, Iran, Syria and Viet Nam. But states cannot commit terrorism, as terrorism is exclusively the brand of non-states. Look up the definition. 4- No, we intentionally target military assets. Sometimes, civilians are hurt when we target military assets. But we will not take responsibility for damage to civilians when they were warned to leave the area of the military asset - we cannot value their lives more than they do. Sabra and Shatila were perpetrated by Lebanese Phalange soldiers, not Israelis. Mohammed Dura, the forensics show, was shot by Palestinian soldiers firing at Israelis. Hala's family was not killed by Israeli shelling, forensics have shown. The suspicion is that either an Israeli shell was buried as a booby trap for Israeli soldiers by Hamas, or that a shell didn't explode but exploded later. In any case, if the PA used their resources to build a government rather than a militia, their families would have had no losses. I accept no guilt for them. 5- Only UNSCR's are legally binding. The UNSCR's following the 1973 and 1967 wars have reciprocal obligations, not just obligations for Israel. Israel's actions were caused exclusively by the failure of the other parties to stand by their obligations. 6- Congratulations. I'm glad you're united. Big deal. 7- Sorry I hurt your iddy biddy feewings. 8 - You got your wish.
52. To 39
Shai ,   Israel   (07.30.06)
"State terrorism" is an invention of Arabs and third worlders. There is "state sponsored terrorism". I already answered this question to 42 and don't wish to waste more time with you on it. Destroying infrastructure is not "terorrism". You are spouting nonsense. The destruction of the infrastructure is necessary to ensure that Hizbollah cannot be re-armed, cannot escape our attacks, cannot have maximal conditions for attacking us, and cannot remove our soldiers from Lebanon to Iran. If Lebanon were to cooperate in caging Hizbollah as it was supposed to under 1559, there would have been no need to destroy the infrastructure. The fact that more Lebanese die than Israelis is not for you Arabs lack of effort. You just aren't as good at destruction as you imagine yourselves to be. Prove that the residents of Qana were killed "deliberately". OUr conflict with Lebanon was over according to the UN. You had no reason to kidnap our soldiers. I addressed this idiotic observation to 42. Whether it's terrorism is not relevant. It's a causus belli - a cause for war. You got what you wanted. What difference is it to me whether you think Hizbollah is a "resistence" movement? What, you think it's like the smart ass kid with glasses, who thinks I can't hit him? I'll pop him just the same, the little prick. A country that "dreams of more land, more water" does not withdraw from Lebanon, idiot. You didn't "kick us out". You flatter yourselves. We left because we felt we could achieve peace better by withdrawing, and since that's why we entered Lebanon, we decided to take a chance. In hindsight, it was a mistake to abandon the brave soldiers of the SLA and give you the veneer of pride that you think you earned. UNSCR 242 had obligations for both sides, not just Israel. Read it for once and stop talking like a bumper sticker.
53. To # 22
Natan ,   USA   (07.30.06)
What the hell is Hizbollah protecting you from? Israel left Lebanon in 2000 Israel did not attack you. It was Hizbollah that attacked Israel. The problem with you Arabs is that you never get the picture right. Hizbollah is in Lebanon for one reason only, to make you into Iran # 2 before you know it, the Iranian Mullahs will run your life and will take you back to the 19th century.. you used to be called "Paris of the middle east" keep supporting Hizbollah and you will become Tehran on the mediterranian!!

How sad that Hizbullah will let there own children and women stay in arms way! Any normal sociaty would have moved them out a long time ago. DID they do this on purpose? How sad it is that Lebanon will soon be complety run by Hizbullah and no longer be a "Lebanese" country

60. HIZBULLAH'S EVIL GOAL: The MURDER of EVERY JEW
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.30.06)
Multiple past experiences have proven the Islamists lie about the number of civilians wounded and killed. Less Israelis get killed because Israelis fear G-D, care about people, and do not use Israeli civilians as human shields. And, ONE THIRD of Israelis are now living in bomb shelters. Hizbullah ruthlessly uses the civilian population as human shields to protect rocket launching teams - setting up rockets and other weapons in basements of apartment blocks, schools and mosques. Hizbullah shoots from inside mosques, hospitals and schools in south Lebanon. Lebanese civilians are being sacrificed by Hizbullah and Siniora thanks Hizbullah! Hizbullah's evil goal is the murder of every Jew. On October 22, 2002, Nasrallah told Lebanon's Daily Star: "If the Jews all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them world wide."
