What utter drivel! So, if the Jews of Europe in 1933 had just thought "survival", there would have been no Holocaust? How many times do the Arabs have to say that they want to kill as many Jews as possible or that they want to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth before you and the peace camp understand the concept of an implacable enemy; an enemy that just wants you dead; an enemy that doesn't want to negotiate with you, they just want you DEAD; an enemy to whom the only good Jew is a dead Jew. What will it take for you to grasp that Israel's 58 year with the Arabs is not a war over land!!!!! It is a war over the very right of Israel to exist. Sure, I want peace. But the Arabs don't. They just want the Jews dead! Beilin's theories are just delusions of Oslo Psychosis. As Einstein pointed out, insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Mark, are you on drugs? Those who think you are whacked don't need an attitude adjustment, they think you need serious psychiatric help to deal with your delusions. You make as much sense as a Jew wearing a kippah surrounded in a dark alley at night by neo-Nazis with guns and knives thinking that he will survive by thinking peace and having hope.

No war in recorded history has ever been settled without either 1) one side first achieving a crushing victory over the other, in which case, the victors wrote the terms of surrender (US in WWII) or 2) one side giving up because they no longer had the stomach for the fight (US in Vietnam) in which case the side that didn't give up wins. Land for peace is futile. Retreading the same failed policies of the past expecting them to achieve a different result is insanity.

Mark, don't flatter yourself. The premise of your question is incorrect. Although there are plenty of sane Jews, you just don't happen to be one of them. You are suicidally delusional. Any belief that you can negotiate with the Arabs on a level playing field with all of Londonistan and Eurabia against Israel and the US State Department up to its usual tricks, is not a sane one.
35. Expel Beilin to Ramallah
Roger ,   USA   (09.12.06)
He belongs to Arabs who claim the Palestinian origin.
36. Beilin should be arrested & tried as a traitor!
Nannette ,   London, UK   (09.12.06)
He's in the pay of the EU, the US and is adhering to the Saudi initiative. He should be tried as a traitor to Israel, because he's certainly not a patriot.
37. Martin: Question
MARK ,   USA   (09.12.06)
Then what is the solution? war, war, war, and more war more hatred more death That is depressing. I do not want that. You are thinking doom and gloom. I want some good news for a change. If you think war there will be war. Think peace. How many more wars? Why is Saudi Arabia promoting a peace plan?
38. Nannette:
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
He wants peace. Is something so wrong with that?
39. Bielin has as many friends as Peres
Jeff ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (09.12.06)
And Apparently they are all Arabs. Where is the Arab Ghandi? Why does Condelezza Rice keep forcefeeding bad deals: Rafah Crossing Control; Hamas in PA Elections; Ceasefire leaving Hezbollah in place. Why is Olmert enchanted by her dominatrix boots? Kahane was only half right.
40. #3 - peace on Beilin's terms would mean a one state solution
michael ,   tel aviv & london   (09.12.06)
An Arab State. You are in the US .. Here Beilin is now considered (except for some die hard left wing cronies) as an irrelevance. Somebody locked into a way of thinking that prohibits him from seeing that things have changed. I think 'peace' and am at peace with myself but with Islam openly saying that it seeks world domination and sharia it is hard not to see a major war on the horizon. Not a local middle east war but Islam against the rest. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that his cult would like to advance armageddon.
41. Mark, a question for you
Mike ,   Atlanta, USA   (09.12.06)
Can you provide evidence that demonstrates how Arabs will ensure Israel has secure borders? I ask you this question every time I see your name and you never reply to me. The question is simple: what evidence do you have that suggests the Arabs can secure Israel's borders?
42. mr beilin , please JOIN TO ARAFAT HIS IS WAITING 4 U
REUVEN ,   USA   (09.12.06)
BEILIN AND OTHER FOOLS LIKE OLMERT ,PERES CAUSED ALL MOST THE DISTRUCTION OF STATE OF ISRAEL.THE WHOLE GOVERMENT SHOULD RESIGN AND THOSE WITH WISDOM SHOULD LEAD ISRAEL.
43. Much like Jimmy Carter, we just wish for Beilin to go away
Jenny   (09.12.06)
44. #41: I'll answer you.
Michael Steiner   (09.12.06)
The answer to your question is simple: none. We have no evidence. Then again, very few modern wars ended with cast-iron foolproof perennial guarantees of any kind. As I said earlier, the world's pressure for us (both) to find a solution is going to steadily increase. We can either negotiate a solution as an equal partner or have one imposed on us one day. The Arab Initiative--which is pretty sensible--is a good place to start, particularly as it is an unprecedented step taken by the Arab side in the whole history of the conflict.

FBannourah ,   Birmingham/UK   (09.12.06)
Yossi Beilin is aman with long vision,he is not fanatic ,of course he will find people who can talk the same language on the other side, peace and prosperity for all jews and palestinian, otherwise blood shed and killing no winners.
46. It's Time for Reasonable People to Seize the Initiative
Knave Dave   (09.12.06)
It's time for the reasonable people on both sides to take the floor and work toward a reasonable settlement. Any initiative based roughly on the pre-1967 lines is a reasonable place to begin. Ignore the extremists on both sides, like chopping off the 2% on each end of a bell curve, and work with the middle. If you cannot work with Hamas, work with all the surrounding Arab nations who propose this initiative and with Abbas. Accept a reasonable agreement, even though Hamas will not, and make those your lines for unilateral Disengagement, in essence cutting Hamas out of the discussion, if they cannot be reasonable. You can do that to the exent that other Arab nations are willing to sign on to an agreement that Hamas will not accept. Those nations, then, become in your camp, not in Hamas's camp ... and you move forward, creating the reality you've agreed to.

Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
Peacekeepers that do their job correctly will keep peace. Fences, Walls, Checkpoints, if that does not work. There are options. DMZ buffer zones. No man's land. Anti-missle systems on border, electric fences there are many ways to prevent attacks
48. #46 Excellent point. I agree!
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
Power is in numbers!!
49. #45 I agree. He makes sense.
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
Instead of praising him, many are bashing him. They must love war. Sick. Sick.

Yossi Beilin has had his 15 minutes. His plan was given a go. It failed. Utter, miserable and absolute failure. How many times have we heard this same tune from this worthless one-note weasel? Does appeasement bring peace? No. In the entire history of civilization, has appeasement ever brought peace? Never. Does shouting "Peace! Peace!" joining hands and singing "Kumbayah" bring peace? No. Does repeating worthless slogans bring peace? No. What will achieve peace? Victory, then there will be peace.
52. Arab Peace Plan For Dummies
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (09.12.06)
Here are the terms of the 2002 Saudi "peace initiative" for those of you with short term memory loss: ISRAEL MUST AGREE: 1) Retreat to the 1949 ceasefire lines, giving up the WEST BANK, GOLAN HEIGHTS, EAST JERUSALEM including the OLD CITY and WESTERN WALL. 300,000 Jews must be expelled. 2) Allow a "right of return" into pre-1967 Israel of 4 MILLION HOSTILE "refugees" and all their DESCENDANTS. IN EXCHANGE THE ARABS AGREE: 1) Promise some intangible "recognition."
53. Peace, where?
Fern ,   Colombia   (09.12.06)
Is it the the Prisoners' Document for jew-arab peace? 1.-This document calls for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, without withdrawing claims to the area known as pre-1967 Israel, within the Green Line. 2.-The so-called "right of return" for millions of Arabs to Israel is emphasized five times in the paper, and the PLO's stage-by-stage policy is also reaffirmed. 3.-the Prisoners' Document encourages further terrorism - in violation of the Road Map plan's fundamental demands - by calling for the "widening the circles of resistance" and for the "release of all [terrorist] prisoners" held by Israel "by all means." Support of "those who bore the burden of resistance, in particular the martyrs' families" - i.e., suicide bombers and their relatives - is encouraged. 4.-No Recognition of Israel .Hamas has refused to recognize Israel or negotiate with it, Even in the new government, Hamas will not recognize Israel outright; it rather hopes that its acceptance of vague Arab peace initiatives, such as the Saudi plan of 2002, will enable other countries to remove their diplomatic boycotts from the PA.
54. To Kyle: Normal Relations is tangible
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
Complete withdrawal from the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including full withdrawal from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights and the remaining occupied parts of south Lebanon to the June 4, 1967 lines. To accept to find an agreed, just solution to the problem of Palestinian refugees in conformity with Resolution 194. To accept an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the Palestinian lands occupied since June 4, 1967 in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and with Jerusalem (al-Quds al-Sharif) as its capital in accordance with Security Council Resolution 1397. Arab Part: To consider the Arab-Israeli conflict over and to enter into a peace treaty with Israel to consolidate this. To achieve comprehensive peace for all the states of the region. To establish normal relations within the context of comprehensive peace with Israel
55. Kyle: East Jerusalem is mostly Arab
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
Reports suggest that the Saudi plan allows for Israeli sovereignty over the Western or Wailing Wall in Jerusalem - one of Judaism's holiest sites. They know the importance of the wall to the world.
56. Refugees can be non citizen residents
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
They can be permanent residents with no citizenship in the land of Israel. The same could apply for Jews in the Arab land of Palestine. What is wrong with that solution?
57. Beilin
jeremy ,   Kibbutz hulata   (09.12.06)
This guy is an irrelevant nut case. Yossi Beilin should be arrested and investigated for all the blood shead he and his Oslo process has caused. I don't understand how Ynet even gives him a forum to speak from. He isn't news, ne is more of a Fifth column to our country. Yossi Beilin, go live in Jenin, with your arab friends or better yet trade yourself for our captured soldiers. Then we might have something for you to talk about.
58. Pal refugees - Res. 194 - CLARIFICATION
NL ,   Israel   (09.12.06)
Using Resolution 194 to justify right of return for Palestinian refugees is inappropriate based on the resolution itself. UNSCR 194 set up an international Conciliation Commission to mediate between the parties and made provisions for the return or resettlement of refugees. The resolution says nothing solely about "Arab refugees" and clearly applies to both Arab and Jewish refugees of the Arab-instigated war. But Resolution 194 is only mentioned today when demanding rights for Arabs to return to Israel, something that is neither in the wording of Resolution 194 nor would be considered rational except in a different world, a world in which Jews could freely return to Arab lands and live there in peace. Those who demand compensation for Arab refugees have to also consider the loss of life, home, and property by hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees who were forced out of Arab countries in the same time period. By most calculations, there were more displaced Jews from Arab nations for the decade surrounding 1948 (albeit in smaller groups and not one mass exodus) than Arabs in the mandate area who left. Thus, if we were to consider reparation for reparation, based on numbers of refugees and lands, the Jews actually come out on top. They deserve more reparations, both for larger numbers of displaced and for value of land and property abandoned. Israel absorbed their Arab-derived Jewish refugees. It's not our fault that countries like Jordan and Egypt deliberately refused to do so (even after encouraging Arabs in the mandate area to flee during the 1948 war) in order to keep using them as leverage to try and get rid of Israel.
59. #54, 55, 56 Mark, clueless
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (09.13.06)
#54: A "promise" is not tangible. #55: Arab "initiative" does not recognize any historical or religious Jewish connection to Jerusalem, the Temple Mount, or the Western Wall. FYI, Jews do not refer to the Kotel as the "Wailing Wall." #56: "Permanent residents with no citizenship" Jews in Palestine="dhimmi" or DEAD, Arabs in Israel="will scream APARTHEID and people like u will demand full citizenship for them.
