31. Who cares what this Arab-American moron believes?
Dudu ,   Kfar Sava   (11.20.06)
32. Ray's 2 state solution is a scam aimed at destroying Israel
Tomer ,   TA   (11.20.06)
33. to 4 - 141, 2241
Shai ,   Israel   (11.20.06)
or, one state for one Jewish people, 22 states for 1 Arab people. I think the context is important.
34. The initial architect of the two-state solution ...
Amy ,   off rt 40   (11.20.06)
... was not Edward Said. It was the United Nations, which voted on the two-state solution in the autumn of 1947, and approved it. Israel's acceptance of it was demonstrated by its declaration of independence. Palestine turned it down.
35. Ray, there are already 21 arab states - that' s enough!
Yigal   (11.20.06)
36. Why is Yediot giving this enemy civilian a platform?
Tomer   (11.20.06)
37. Israel should follow Ray Hanania's appeasement policies
Neville Chamberlain ,   London UK   (11.20.06)
38. Two states now: Either 2nd Shoa or 2nd Nakba
Daniel ,   Amsterdam   (11.20.06)
Without a popular movement for peace and coexistance among the Palestinian movement, any two state solution will lead to war in the short term, and to disaster is the long term. I recently was at a leftist / socialist dutch peace rally here in Amsterdam, where they claimed that peace would only come when the Jewish state is destroyed. This is supposed to be the peace camp. The Weird Truth is, that the only Palestinians that would accept a true two state solution are actually people I would gladly live in a bi-national state with. The problem right now -and for the forseeable future- is that there is no Palestinian partner for peace. There is a partner for futile talks, fake treaties, false promises and lies. Arafat was a lot of fun, but we are not likely to fall for it a 2nd time.
39. Man, reading these talkbacks...
Michael Steiner   (11.20.06)
...it's tragic what a dreamworld most of you are living in. This type of intransigence, idiocy and bravado is what's going to destroy Israel when a one-state solution is forced on us in the future. Because of you morons we're going to end up being persecuted in the diaspora for the next 2000 years.
40. One-State Solution An Excellent Idea
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.20.06)
And that state is the State of ISRAEL. Is that such a bad idea? Sounds good to me.
41. ISRAEL AND JORDAN! No Hamastan, Fatastan, Gazakhstan
Melanie ,   USA   (11.20.06)
43. Meanwhile most Arabs would rather live in Israel and many
Avi ,   Israel   (11.20.06)
are actually leaving the Palestinian areas to live and work in Israel, since they do not wish to live under yet another Arab dictatorship.
44. There never was an "Israeli" country or people either
(11.20.06)
45. #44 Don't be a moron and go read the Bible.
AK   (11.20.06)
46. #36 because the Jews are self-destructive.
Danny ,   USA   (11.20.06)
Only the dumb Jews would allow Ray, the enemy, to publish his BS in here.
47. Palestine is another Arab fantasy or a mirage in the Sahara
Roger ,   USA   (11.20.06)
48. Fences preclude the Arabs from car theft and terror.
Dotti ,   USA   (11.20.06)
Which is not something the Arabs want.
49. The Arabs want to use the Jews for their benefits
Ron ,   USA   (11.20.06)
50. To 44
Shai ,   Israel   (11.20.06)
From about 1300 to 720 BCE, there was a Kindom of Israel in the north part of what is today Israel. The "10 Lost Tribes" were from this Kingdom. The people who live there were "Israelis". Jews are called such because they are descendants of the survivors of the Kingdom of Judea, which inhabited central and south of what is today Israel. Many Judeans were exiled to Babylon in 586 BCE and in the decade previously, and from about 500 BCE to 450 BCE they began their return to Israel, remaining until 70 CE when the Second Temple was destroyed. History lesson over.
51. #44, Open a Bible & then say 'There never was an Israel'
Anthony Gibson ,   Chicago   (11.20.06)
Jews along with 1 billion Christians know that Israel was promised to the Jewish people in the Bible. Jews have a rich history, heritage and culture in the land of Israel, the land of their forefathers and they have the history, archaeology and Bible to prove it. If you can prove there has ever been a sovereign nation called 'Palestine' feel free to do so. And if you can tell the readers all about 'Palestinian' history, heritage, culture and cuisine I am sure people on here would find that most amusing. Not every day we hear all about an invisible nation.
52. Garden of Eden exists in the Bible too - who owns it?
(11.20.06)
53. 2 States: Israel and Jordan Palestine..simple
David ,   Boston   (11.20.06)
It really is that simple. There already are two states on "historic" Palestine. One is Jewish, the other Arab. Unfortunately, parts of Judea and Samaria will ultimately be part of Jordan Palestine, but there are already 2 states. Arabs just wont admit it yet. Hashemite rule will go away. Will this be good for Israel? Yes and No. Will this be good for the Arabs? yes and No. Will this eventually happen? Absolutely and probably within the next 20 years.
54. #44, well, then you are the only one out of 6 billion
David ,   Boston, USA   (11.20.06)
who doesnt know history and historical facts if thats what you believe.
55. good article by Ray
Noam ,   Boca Raton, FL   (11.21.06)
I can't say I agree with his whole analysis but the end result is sound and the only logical solution that would ideally satisfy both sides- though it seems its very far from being reached since one side overwhelmingly wants maximalist solutions=the elimination of the other and imposition of intolerant religious law on the unwilling dimmis. Anyways, I applaud you Ray for exposing the undemocratic and spiteful character of Mr. Abunimah and the horrors that a one-state "solution" would bring to Jews and Christians and nonconformist Muslims alike.
56. Why not demand that other nations hand over land to enemies
Mitch ,   Eilat   (11.21.06)
Seems to me this request is only being made of Israel. 'There can be no peace on earth until Israel does this or that'. Why are other countries not asked to fork over parts of its ancient homeland to its enemies?
57. Notice how...
Ben ,   Hod-Hasharon   (11.21.06)
Notice how Ray claims that the only 2 books worth reading on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict were both written by Palestinians. Very balanced... And I wish he would stop lying about the palestinian "dispossesion". People are starting to realize that it was the ARABS THEMSELVES who urged the palestinians to evacuate in 1948. Just more propaganda from one of the best at it...
58. #57 fleeing massacre in Palestine
(11.21.06)
Wouldn't you tell your friends to leave too, run for your lives when you heard that there were military gangs out to massacre you, like the Jews did in Deir Yassim? The Jews encouraged these scare tactics too. The more Palestinians that fled, the fewer to kill or expell forceably. The Palestinians who fled also expected to be able to return to their homes afterwards.
59. Read the books first, Ray
Will ,   Washington, DC   (11.21.06)
Did Ray even read the books? Nothing in his content reflects that he did. Abunimah covered most of his predictable comments in the book, already. What's so funny about Ray's argument is that we already have one state, it's just not a solution. Granting equality to everyone living under Israel's rule is a smaller step away legally, institutionally, and morally then is developing a second truly sovereign state on that small piece of land. Plus, the one-state solution is based more on modern values (one person, one vote), and an actual moral vision. The two-state solution is antiquated and already revealed as impossible. Keep hope alive, Ray. Will
60. #57 twisting words ...
Ray Hanania ,   Chicago IL USA   (11.21.06)
Hey "Ben" ... you are twisting my words ... I am referring to only two books written by Arabs that are worth reading ... sorry if it isn't clear to you ... but my guess is that in your hatred (denying Palestinin rights is hatred, just as denying the Holocaust is hatred, too) you really don't care what I meant. Thanks for sharing your views Ray Hanania www.hanania.com
