We didn't vote for George W. Bush to get his daddy's friends in position to harm Israel. The Republican base is by and large very pro-Israel and totally opposed on biblical grounds to her giving up any of her hard won territory. This is sheer betrayal of the true Christian base as well as Israel.

What is the U.S. thinking? It's generally not good for diplomacy to leave a major player out of talks. Israel is being treated like a classroom bully about to be expulsed from school when a more thorough investigation of the conflict is needed. Baker's idea gives the Arab nations the impression that they're not doing anything wrong. Meanwhile, they've been pushing all of the little kids down at recess and stealing all of their milk money. I would also agree with comment #1 that making a decision for peace on behalf of Israel has all of the markings of the Anti-Christ.

Peace talks in the Middle East without Israel makes as much sense as holding a conference on how to obtain eternal life without including the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The covenant that God made with Abraham underguirds any and all aspects of real peace in the Middle East. Jews, Muslims and Christians all claim Abraham as their Father but all seemingly have chosen to neglect doing the deeds of Abraham upon which God's promise to fulfill His covenant agreement is based. For men to think that apart from consideration of God's involvement in the land and the people of Israel, that they are going to come to some viable peaceful solution apart from the 'pressure of Israel' is to proceed in the same ignorance that 2000 years of Middle Eastern diplomacy and manipulation by the worlds powers has produced. Israel has been promised both a land and a Messiah, Israel is coming back into 'their' land, Edom can offer them safe passage or face their promised Messiah but they cannot stop either. If the world, including Israel, truly wants peace, then it's time to find out what Abraham's deeds were and to earnestly begin to practice them. I am a Bible believing Christian, and in my opinion Israel would be far better off not relying or depending on the US government's help in solving the present problems she is facing. Muslims are all genetically related to Ishmael (the bad seed of the Bible) and neither their words nor promises can be trusted. Their sole purpose in this world is to destroy the "infidels" (all non Muslims) and create a Muslim only planet for allah (intentionally lower case). Israel may be their main target at this moment, but the rest of the world will follow shortly. Any additional consessions by Israel, giving up additional land, not returning fire when fired upon, etc. will just incite more murder and missles, because the only way these war mongers will cease and desist is if they're dead. Just a quick look at History shows that since Bible times, they've been killing each other, and the only time that changes, is when they unite to kill non-believers. I think you need to do whatever will end their aggressions (Nuking them would probably be the most cost effective action) immediately.
