the never was a "state of palestine", and the "palestinian nation" is simply a fabrication to counter zionism. the first chance you got to establish your own state was given to you in 47, and you simply blew it. all facilities you've mentioned besides religious ones started appearing only after brits took over. and didn't have much to do with "palestinian culture". there was hardly any development before, when this land was under ottomans control. if you prefer to call your people canaanites or philistines then i have no problem of calling you natives but you have absolutely nothing to do with them or their culture or religion. and mind you, i didn't call jews natives..its not what i tried to tell with my comparison to indians.
62. Mutually unsatisfiable
Paul ,   Austin, USA   (01.22.07)
Both sides of this odious conflict have made the entire situation unworkable. IF a Palestinian state were to somehow manifest, Israel would continue to demand full sovereignty over said state, and that's not even getting to what the settlers would incite. The Arab side wants nothing less than a dissolved Israel. Have fun.

64. To #38 palestinian from Haifa
Israeli from Haifa   (01.22.07)
In modern times, the Jewish majority in the Land of Israel was finally RE-ESTABLISHED in 1907. By then, there were Hebrew newspapers, hospitals, schools and Universities and a fluorisc\hing economy. A high % of arabs living here NOW are the descendants of IMMIGRANTS from arabia arrived here before 1948 to find prosperity among the Jews. Despite all these historical facts, I agree that the native arabs living on the Land of Israel should have the same rights as those of the Jews that lived in Iran, Lybia , Egypt and Syria for 2000 years.
65. To Palestinian #15 and #38
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (01.22.07)
We are not debating whether the Arab claim to the land is stronger than the Jewish claim to the land. We think the Jewish claim is stronger and we recognize that you think the Arab one is stronger. I expect you to at least recognize the claims each side has. From there you must make a determination whether you will uncompromisingly stick to your belief (and we will to ours) and in which case YOU MUST GO and we keep it all or if you are ready to reach a compromise that will allow us to exist and in which case YOU MUST GO to your half of the pie. Its as simple as that, chief. Now decide.
66. Rare wisdom from the French Revolution
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (01.22.07)
In the aftermath of the French Revolution the question arose about the rights to be granted to the Jews. It was argued (and forgive me if I don't get it right) "To the Jews as individualseverything; to the Jews as a people, nothing." In the end the Jews were granted equality as individuals. It was wrenching for an otherwise semi-autonomous community, but it was necessary for them to enter the modern world. Israel's Arab community, in contrast, insists on distinct rights as a separate people, in addition to special dispensation from national obligations (e.g. national service). This cannot be. Granting national - as distinct from individual - rights to Israel's Arab population is a recipe for disaster.

Actually, John, he is correct. That you think otherwise is fine. But the reality on the ground is exactly as he says.
68. Oops!! While bashing Jews we have lost 0.5 billion Muslims

69. Re #63 I think you said ...
Steve ,   USA   (01.22.07)
B"H It is my desire to react to several people. We don't have be an army that state does not want. Even that I am bedoiun we are their Arabs is the truth. So if the joke is not on us then on whom? For someone who speaks Hebrew more fluently, did I understand #63 properly?

Next step: an actual plan to get the moderate voice heard. On one side we have "transfer now." On the other side we have "separate people, no service, power of veto." In the middle we have a great opportunity for world peace: Equal status and opportunity for Israeli Arabs, with equal commitment and sacrifice for the state. The open support of Jew murderers by Israeli-Arab politicians, even as Nasrallah's rockets turned Israeli-Arab children into "martyrs," catapulted Leiberman into power, and rendered the peace camp impotent. One thing that would really help is for voices like yours to come to the fore of the Israeli Arab political sphere, instead of extreme demands and terrorist-sympathy. As a scientist, I can tell you the Israeli Arab community has unprecedented opportunities for success within the framework of the Jewish state, if we can overcome the current hurdles. Do not be discouraged by the extreme voices from Jews: after decades of murder, they are in survival mode, and simple, quick "solutions" are tempting. I know if we work together, the moderates can win, and peace will reign. I pray it is not too late. Take care, feel free to email me, Aaron
72. Only one-state-solution can help
zeev geneva ,   geneva switzerland   (01.22.07)
Not only the discriminated Israeli Arabs like to have their rights recognised, but also the Palestinian refugees who have been expelled for the only crime of being non-jews. the only possibility to have peace in this region is the creation of one democratic state with equal rights for all, regardless of their religion. Any other solution is time, energy, life and money wasting. Why should religion be a reason for discrimination?
73. #15 this is just irresistible
Jewish Land ,   Amman/Damasc, Israel   (01.22.07)
If you want to talk about land then the entire Middle East is up for grabs.
74. Israels jewish politicians want to please everybody
zionist forever   (01.23.07)
In 1967 the Lubavetcher Rebbe told the Israeli government that while arabs are scared of what might happen to them Israel should force them to get out of town and never return and they would have accepted it out of fear. As usual the Israeli government wanting to show it wants to be morraly better than the arabs decided to let them stay and even let the waqf keep control of Temple Mount. Now look at the situation jews are the ones who cant go to their most holy site because the waqf wont let them and nobody in government wants to confront the muslims. Jerusalem has a large arab population which the palestians exploit as a justifictaion to divide the city. Time to stop allways looking for the morral and politcly correct solution and listen to the advice of men like that otherwise Israel is nothing but another western multi cultural state without an official religion.
75. #6 No Mike, they shouldn't, and their skin color is pretty
AK   (01.23.07)
much the same as jewish israelis.
76. zeev - 72
zionist forever   (01.23.07)
Why should Israel allways be the one to pay the price for arab demands why doesnt somebody start looking to find a solution based on Israels demands for a change. Instead of saying palestian state say go to Jordan which has an 80% population who call themselves palestians. With the Golan Height say to Assad Israel would like to have peace with Syria but your not getting the Golan nothing more to be said. Jerusalem say there is no dividing the city for palestians or anybody else in this world its Israels united capital forever. Say to the so called refugees stay out of Israel every single one of you and how do the adult children and grandchildren born outside Israel manage to call themselves refugees thats not the case with any other refugee group in the world but it seems that the palestians are unique. One palestian state I agree it allready exists its called Jordan and lets pay Jordan to take the arab residents of the jewish state where they are not wanted.

Reza ,   Palistastan   (12.07.07)
"Only roughly one-half of Iran’s 70 million people are ethnic Per- sians, the rest being Azerbaijanis, Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen, Baluchis, and Lors. In the eyes of many observers, this unusual diversity makes Iran not so much a nation-state as a multinational empire dominated by Persians, much as the Soviet Union once was dominated by Russians. Iran’s ethnic minori- ties share a widespread sense of discrimination and deprivation toward the central Tehran government" http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:nK_xy5A6XRUJ:www.ifpa.org/pdf/Iran_102307/Irans_Ethnic_Tinderbox.pdf+iran+expel+arabs+Amir+Taheri&hl=es&ct=clnk&cd=7&gl=es.
79. tribalism
zichron   (12.07.07)
tribalism is primitive difficult to escape a natural but regressive force . but mixed marriages do occur as does race mixing so nature approves . the ashkenazi-sephardi mixed marriage rate is high and in a few generations differences will be less . the humanitarianization of belief is vital with purifying of the religious value and belief systems to peace consciousness on orders from the doctrine of mad .
