31. #25...you are incorrect
Israel ,   Israel   (05.18.07)
I'm not from the US so if you tell me the majority of Americans Jews feel for the Lebanese civilians who suffered then Ill have to believe you. Unfortunately though I cannot say the same for Israeli's. For us they are just dirty people who won't let us live in peace and thus they get what they deserve for supporting and / or not fighting the terrorists who rule them / live amongst them. Funny thing is that they say the same thing about us and how we vote for our governments. The merry-go-round goes round and round ladidaaaaaaaaa
32. #30....
Eric ,   Israel   (05.18.07)
Yes, they have hamas to blame. Hamas says Sderot has the government to blame because we maintain a sea, land, and air siege on Gaza. We say we do that because of the violence. They say there is violence because we are in the west bank. We say we are there for security purposes. They say they have the right to fight back. We say they are wrong. They say we are wrong.... Do you see how this is going? Are you proposing that both sides just keep going at it until one side agrees with the other / disappears? Lesson of the day people....we are both to blame and we both seriously need to change our ways.
33. Sderot residents must leave them
Alqassa ,   gaza   (05.18.07)
Sderot residents must leave them because we Sendriham everywhere, and after the departure of Sederot residents will Threatening port dams, no security in our country then leave you
34. Evacuate Sderot for safe "life"
Locrasia ,   U.S.   (05.18.07)
The best option the people in Sderot have is to evacuate the settlement permanently. Otherwise, they're doomed to live (If they lived) in continuous danger and fear and psychological issues. This must be done before the Qassam rockets are improved to hit targets better and cause much more damage and casualties also. After all, did those settlers come to "Israel" to suffer such kind of life? Or they came hoping to have a safe and prosperously? By now, the Jews in "Israel" must have understood that this "Israel" is not what God promised them. Otherwise, they must believe that God promised them something so bad, and that this "Israel" is actually a punishment more than anything else. It is their choice now: either believe Zionism is against the Jews and is exploiting them, or be self-hating Jews who believe God hates them that much to let them live misserably and in constant fear.

Eric ,   Israel   (05.18.07)
Stop with the WW2 references!!!!!! England .v. Germany was a case of two countries with two armies fighting each other on the battle field with the ugly civilian bombing as took place in London. Whether we love Israel or we don't, we have to (should) admit that no matter how sincere our desire for peace is we still defacto occupy these people. So, yes...Hamas are terrorists and firing Qassams on Sderot is horrid to say the least. However, to suggest we should act in a "total war" fashion like in WW2 demonstrates an inability to differentiate between the two conflicts. Fear mongers...

38. #22 - More disengagement coming?
Tracy W   (05.18.07)
For those joking about another withdrawal, think again: "Quiet Knesset Vote on Another Unilateral Withdrawal "Knesset members quietly voted 26-18 Wednesday to approve a national referendum on whether to implement another unilateral withdrawal from Israel-controlled territories." Many coalition members absented themselves from the vote, which was carried out on Jerusalem Reunification Day http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/126535
39. And what is the Left doing these days?
Tracy W   (05.18.07)
INN reports today that "About 150 left-wing Israeli activists and Arab residents of the Palestinian Authority have been holding a violent protest this afternoon against security fence Israel is constructing adjacent to Bil'in, west of Ramallah. IDF sources say that the protesters are throwing rocks and bottles at the soldiers stationed at the site." "Many of those protests have turned violent and some have led to injuries among the IDF and Border Guard troops sent to protect the fence from the protesters' vandalism." http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/126681 Maybe they haven't heard of Sderot, so focused they are on their pro-Arab campaign.
40. #35- Eric, there are a great many more parallels...........
Cameron ,   USA   (05.18.07)
between the situation & WW2 than you are comfortably admitting. Apathy, indifference, or sh*tting on your own people & country will not bring the barbarous Pali behavior to an end. Like a good Progressive, you merely seek to avoid the serious steps that reality & common sense whisper in your ear every day. Meanwhile, the loopy barbarism grows by the day.
41. A Day In The Life...
Moe Chile ,   London Canada   (05.18.07)
from the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/talking_point/6670117.stm IMAN, 21, UNIVERSITY STUDENT AND JOURNALIST, GAZA CITY "Heavily armed men are everywhere. When I left university two days ago a gunman brandished his weapon in the face of the passenger in the front of my taxi. We were all terrified. Because of the security checkpoints, it took me much longer to reach college. I study at the Islamic university in Gaza. There are reports that the campuses have come under fire from gunmen. EVERYONE IS BEING TERRORISED- women, children and old people included. People are under tremendous psychological stress. Students are extremely worried that their courses will be suspended, like they were two months ago. This would affect our academic future and students are an integral part of society. I am confined to my home. The streets are full of masked, armed men - some are positioned on roof tops, it's too dangerous to go out."
42. #38 is misinformed
Eric ,   Israel   (05.18.07)
ACTUALLY, that vote was so that a referendum would have to take place before any future withdrawal. What that means is that if the government decides to leave territory then the people of Israel must vote on it. It does not, in any way, shape, or form mean that we are most definitely leaving more territory. Seeing as how you lean to the right (aruz sheva? EXTREME right unfortunately) this is actually a good thing. That means that before the government can go and repeat the mistakes of how they withdrew from Gaza, the people will get to vote on it. You just like to complain.
43. #39 Left know about Sderot.Left want Israel's Enemies to win
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (05.18.07)
The suffering of Jews is irrelevant to leftist traitors. The left seek to increase Jewish suffering as much as possible. The left are generously financed by powerful Jew-haters. The left are united with Islamo Fascists in the goal of destroying all of civilization.
44. #42 - Referendum
Tracy W   (05.18.07)
My point is that in the middle of everything that's going on, the Knesset still makes time to focus on disengagement (doesn't Peretz continue to threaten with more expulsions?). The issue of further expulsions or withdrawal from Golan should not even come up for discussion. It's another slap on the face of the Israeli people. The referendum on disengagement should have taken place long ago, before they withdrew from Israeli-controlled land. Too bad there is no constitution that requires consultation for major issues such as these. Furthermore, there should be a referendum before ANY "peace" agreement is reached with the Arabs, whatever that agreement may entail. Any government should consult with the population before such important things are decided, especially a government with almost zero support from the population. This would be even beneficial as a way out for the spineless Israeli government that seems unable to say No to its US master. The US shamelessly continues to dictate Israeli policies, quite often detrimental to the survival of the country.
45. Is there a political party out there that will

have as its' platform trying and punishing the kadima/labor/ma-gil/shas/Yisrael beitanu gang. And the rest of the advisors, goverment officials,I.D.F./police that were responsible for the disengagement? For not destroying gaza and expelling the palis from our land, they should be punished and never be allowed to contact the public again.
46. TV abroad on Sderot
Richard-Goj ,   Amsterdam   (05.18.07)
I just watched the Dutch 10 o'clock news. I can tell that the information in my country was quite objective (in this particular case about Sderot) I quote: "Israel has retaliated the barrage of qassam rockets on Israeli cities" Black and white video taken from the plane/ helicopter on the pinpoint accuracy attacks was displayed. - Someone here( forgot the name, asked the other day: How many non-Jews abroad log in on Ynet. One, at least ;-) No let's be serious I occassionally refer to Ynet in the local Internet-papers in my country, and I try to influence public opinion on political forums. But to be honest: Most people in Western Europe aren't even remotely aware of Israel's position. They dont know at all about the long term policy of Hamas. The only thing they read is: Hanyeh was elected democratically, so that must be ok-> and that's it. . Shalom from Holland., Richard Goj
47. Why a lacky, lap dog Olmert fails to defeat the enemy
Marcel ,   Florida   (05.18.07)
You seem to have forgotten the big picture. You forget that Israel must suffer annahilation for the vision, the dream of President Bush's Palestinian state. The idea of a two state solution is a farce whic hide's the true agenda of Bush's dream of a return to dar al Islam in what was once Israel. Thats the peace which they are engineering before the feeble sheep of Israel and with ther great help I might add. This is why the lacky, the lap dog,the Puppet Olmert lives on. He is the man for the vision, the dream of Israel's truly most dangerous enemy. An enemy you seem to ignore . Denial is a powerful enabler of delusion ,isn't it. What is evident to some is how made the human condition becoems when God is left out of the plan's of men. Israel ,you are mad ! You are mad from your leaders on down , any and all who surrender God's land to His enemies for the promise of peace which cannot be delivered by a lying politician in Washington or an mortal man. Continue to ignore God and His will for Israel and tyou will suffer more and more. Your false peacemaker ,messiah has only delieverd you to the gates of Hell. It is better to find one leader who does not bow the knee to the King of Babylon but to Hashem. The sooner the better .
48. the facts from Sderot
Sderot Resident ,   Sderot Rocket City   (05.18.07)
I find this article to be highly-disturbing, and some of the comments. Let's talk facts: the estimate of 3,000 is RIDICULOUS. I had trouble finding people in my neighborhood - the city is deserted....I would be surpised if 50% are still here....23,000 was not the right #...that was 5 years ago. Ashkenazi wants to help: move the arabs area from Sderot 36km (twice the range of current missiles)...Olmert wants to help (commit suicide sir--you are a snake and betrayer of the nation)....Bibi wants to help (sure)....this is all political nonsense...if I had confronted any of these barbarians in my hometown....after what I saw this week..I would have gone mad. Let me fill you in...Sderot is dead and gone...no garbage pickup...no mail...few stores...no neighbors...no school...my minyan closed for Shabbat....no cabs....no buses....lots of unusable shelters...not one person has checked on me or offered assistance or support...not one by phone or coming to my door...I have no idea where I would go in emergency. A recent poll said 75% of Sderot would approve major military strikes..even knowing it would be hell here (100 a day for weeks)...but 94% believe the gov't will do nothing to protect them...and that is why everyone left...there is no trust in our army or government. There are many poor immigrants (Russian and Ethiopian--our brothers and sisters) who have nowhere to go. I myself was in backyard on Thursday and massive Kassam landed 20 yards away and destroyed neighbor's house. (see video as www.israelreporter.com-scroll down on homepage). Sderot has lost its brave battle...more accurately...the Jewish people have made Sderot another of crazy and dangerous uncle shimon's "sacrifices for peace"...the future of our 52-year-old "settlement" is over...Unless the idf can stop almost all these missiles and soon....which is impossible given our leadership and ideological state of our military....Sderot will cease to be.....I intend, if needs be, to be last person here....it is fear of the terrorists which is emboldening them.....If I was scoring this week, Hamas achieved all its goals and Israel slipped further into deterrance nightmare...the modern state of Israel is on verge of 3-front rocket war....but all I can finish with is...you should see the children here...before they left that is...it is unethical and immoral and suicidally-dangerous for the Jewish people to allows its citizens to be either slaughtered, maimed, and/or driven from their homes of decades..first Gush Katif, now Sderot, and it will lead to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem....anyone who doesn't see that is either in denial or unable to see the situation in its full light...G-d help us...since the Israeli left is leading us on a deathmarch that they call a "peace process"...The best peace process that Israel ever engaged in was the 67 war....and that is the truth....a strong Israel that the arabs fear....now that will bring regional peace and prosperity.

sk ,   USA   (05.19.07)
Thanks so much for this information. I wonder why journalists can't seem to acquire it, and we need to rely on TBs. At the risk of angering you, I remember (but am not positive) that a plurality of Sderot & Ashkelon voted for Kadima, and that the Russians voted for Lieberman, who now keeps the ilmert regime in power. One thing in particular that you've written is quite interesting, "Ashkenazi wants to help: move the arabs area from Sderot 36km (twice the range of current missiles)..." In other words, a disengagement of Arabs. Good.
50. message to to #21 Eric Israel.
Richard-Goj ,   Amsterdam Hollland   (05.19.07)
I agree with you in that references to WW2 are usually counter-productive. But When one looks at the Video's at MEMRI.org and the original charters of Hamas, one can only conclude that their aims are the same as the leaders of the Third Reich: The destruction of Israel and killing of all Jews. A Palestine imam literally said so in a mosque in Gaza, March 2007. In my view this is not about occupation. This is about a religion that does not accept Jews as neighbors to say the least Once again: On the long run Hamas policy is not about a free Palestine, that is the decoy-> the stepping stone to the annihilation of the "Jewish Zionist entity"

I was impressed by your personnel account on Sderot . That is the kind of story the world needs to know, I will take my responsibilities in this. My question is whether Israeli TV shows the situation as you describe it . Greetings from Holland, R.
52. #48 Dear Sderot Rocket City Resident - I am so sorry
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (05.19.07)
I wept when I read Noam Bedein's article on Sderot. I cried when I read your comment - I am still crying. I prayed to Hashem - I know that Hashem cares. It is so cruel and so evil to abandon the dear citizens of Sderot - it is a great sin against G-D and a great sin against all of you. What an evil betrayal. This wicked, shameful behavior endangers Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and all Israel, as you fully comprehend. Pressured by the US, weak Israeli leaders refuse to protect Jews and are doing everything they possibly can to bring about Islamic conquest of all Israel. Israelis must surround the Knesset and demand new leaders that will utterly defeat the enemy. In the end, it is Hashem who will save Israel and not man. Some boast in chariots and some in horses, but we will boast in the name of the L-RD our G-D. Pslam 20 May Hashem protect you and all Sderot.

enzo ,   london,uk   (05.18.07)
We know what's going on, but the world doesn't, unless we say it loud!!! We want more reports, more articles, more pictures, more numbers on the continuous launch of missiles against innocent Israeli citizens!!!
56. re: eric and withdrawal vote
Sderot Resident ,   Rocket Town   (05.18.07)
Eric...your comments (leaving the settler hatred out) are inaccurate....that vote is not at all to prevent a withdrawal...it is a political process to create a consensus for withdrawal...livni/olmert both in last week were in arab capitals offering a major withdrawal (see the news)...the fence which is being built is a defacto withdrawal...and the arabs (syria/iran/hamas/hezbullah) have said either Israel pulls 1/4 million citizens out of homes and hand it to terror-gangs...or they will rocket us to death....what this legislation is - is a left-wing attempt to show the Israeli people that withdrawal is still "on the table" and they believe they would get 51%...not today .. but after rocket war...perhaps...and Eric...if a7 is EXTREME right lol....then what do you define as center? how about focusing on truth and not right or left....a7 said over and over again that withdrawal from Gush Katif would lead to rocket disaster in south....you are correct...Eric... a7 was EXTREMELY RIGHT about the situation in Israel..and the left/center's promises of peace and prosperity post-disengagment turned out to be a joke....maybe you should read EXTREMELY RIGHT media vs EXTREMELY WRONG (left) media.....pls refrain your comments to what you know...study the issue first...perhaps your hatred for settlers (your brothers and sisters?) has clouded and corroded your ability to analyze and think...the left-wing in this country after all the nonsense about peace..are the most hateful and vapid people on this planet....that is the truth...the left-wing media doesn't even feign honesty...they are distortion-machines...which the left uses to go forward with the dismembering of the state after its expansion in 1967....whose side are you on? anyway...

By no means am I suggesting that the entire idea of terrorists, terrorism, and Arab fanaticism is a haux. It's real and there is no doubt about that. What I am contesting is our generalizing that they all hate us and want us dead. Our Torah says that the true Israel is up to the Euphretes river but, you know, most of us don't care for that so much I think and have adapted to the modern world. Is it sincerely impossible to assume that there are those within the Muslim world who want the same but are oppressed by their societies and provided with to easy a reason to hate the West? All I am saying is that giving up on those who want peace because their rulers are insane and oppressive is unfortunate to say the least. To me it just seems there like are to many people on both sides of the conflict who truly believe that the only way to end this is to "kill them all" on the other side.
59. #56
Eric ,   Israel   (05.19.07)
I'm on the side of logic. We have been fighting each other for the past 60 years and thats just official since Israel was created. Why am I, or you, supposed to believe that this time we are going to accomplish something by recycling the same methods? In respect to the Kneseet vote; I seriously do not see what the problem is because it is absolutely irrelevant now what the politicians are doing as we have the final say. So, we are now semi-protected against a nutcase. You know, I just think we need to try something new regarding our wars. We cannot fight forever, there are more them then there are of us, if God didn't save us during the Holocaust then what is it going to take for him to help us now, and our nuclear weapons are useless (the Arab states are expressing interest in developing their own programs and honestly, where the hell do we plan to fire our nukes without having the radiation blow right back in our faces? The real problems in Israel is that we sit around and point fingers at each other (you're left, you're right, you hate settlers, etc) and it's counter-productive. The real problems in Israel is that we only discuss the plight of the Holocaust survivors on Holocaust Day. The real problem is that Gaydamak is able to help the city of Sderot before the government even knows there is a problem. The real problem is that we truly believe we are superior to everyone else and thus hold ourselves to different sets of standards. I do not hate settlers; I respect their dedication to the state of Israel and to it's land. However, to leave them there indefinitely in an endless war is a spit in their face and the WAY we wage war and the WAY we withdraw is the problem not the actual "war" and "withdrawal"...just their implementation.

Tracy W   (05.19.07)
I just wanted to thank you for your report. It was very moving. I hope we keep hearing from you. The discussion of whether the disengagement was a good idea or not should be over. Now we are witnessing the violent and destructive results of this process. But still the government hasn't given up on their betrayal of the Jewish nation. This is a tragedy of major proportions. It is clear why you were abandoned, why you were not supplied with bomb shelters, why they made light of the rockets hitting your land. It was all part of the government plan to drive you out of there. And I don't expect the IDF to be given orders to do enough damage to the Gazans to stop the rockets. The government has other plans. Their plans are the Bush/Saudi plans. If this is not a betrayal, I don't know what is. Being a mother, I understand how families felt they had to leave. You are very courageous to stay. It is a statement to the government that ought to shame them. If not them, it ought to shame those in Israel who do not care enough about the land and its people. Be hopeful. The Sderot residents will go back to their homes. Unlike Gush Katif, the land hasn't been handed over to the enemy. It's still yours. And this government won't be there for ever. Your courage and patience will continue to be challenged for a while longer, but in the end, the Sderot residents will return home. We'll be praying for you and all the residents of Sderot, and for the fall of this destructive government. Be safe.
