1. Thank you very much Israel.
Roberto Gutierrez ,   Madrid, Spain   (08.03.07)
You are the only people who are helping Sudanese refugees. It´s a shame how European countries are hiding themselves, doing nothing with this tragedy. I´m Spanish and let me tell you that I´m proud of Israel. This world needs Israel. Thank you !!
2. Its all decieving, playing on compassion?
freejay ,   Israel   (08.03.07)
Why is it Israels responsebility? Fair enough a few hundred( non muslim ones), but what happens if hundreds of thousands(muslims) start flooding in, which is exactly what the Egyptian and Arab governments want! We have such a small country, how can we afford to take them in? This is clearly the Arab countries responsebility, that have plenty of room for them, and these traitor MKs would love to see israel overun by muslim refugees to a point where we are forced out ! We already have enough of a problem with the fake Palastinian refugees which Egypt and Jordan have intentionally dumped on our doorstep to try and pick away and slowly destroy us!!!.........Are you all blind to this deceptive use of your compassion?...........ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ALREADY....NO MORE REFUGEES!
3. Look at the muslim veil the woman is wearing!
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (08.03.07)
These MK's are imbecils, representing a BLIND and sick portion of this society. These imbecils don't sign a petition on behalf of Gush Katif refugees,or on behalf of so many Jews being expeled of their properties and who have experienced “unimaginable” suffering, but sign a petition on behalf of enemies being sent to here by ENEMIES COUNTRIES! Maybe the next step is on behalf of poor iraquis and poor palis and the poor world, untill they get to finish with Israel, what is exactly the behind's intention of these fabricated "refugees"!
4. THIS IS A BIG MISTAKE!
(08.03.07)
We will NEVER get rid of this problem, and it will only get worse.
5. Look at the muslim veil!
shmulik ,   Japan   (08.03.07)
Or maybe she is just a modest, married Jewish Haredit!
6. Temporary Solution
Christy ,   Boston, USA   (08.03.07)
Thank G_d Israel is showing some compassion in taking these refugees! NOBODY ELSE is helping these poor people and it's a disgrace. It's time for the US, EU et al to partner with Israel to ensure these refugees are safe. Israel shouldn't shoulder the burden alone. I'd like to see the US make some room for some of these refugees. Whatever is done --- please exclude the UN. That corrupt organization hasn't really helped anyone but themselves in years.
7. Good to hear such a good news!
(08.03.07)
We, Jewish, must look at all the horrors commited out there and protect those who suffer as we did. This is not also one of G-d's orders but also a moral duty for our democracy. Israel has to be and remain a light in the ocean of darkness surrounding it.
8. Finally, MKs do something worthwhile
Tova M. ,   Rehovot, Israel   (08.03.07)
It's about time the Knesset starts acting like the elected officials that they are and takes charge of this government. It is our moral duty as Jews to take in some refugees. Thank God our MKs answer to a higher calling — at least on this account.
9. DEPORT THEM TO EGYPT, let Arabs take care of them
Helena ,   stockholm, sweden   (08.03.07)
"Knesset members who signed the petition suggested that Israel serve as a temporary asylum, until the refugees could be transferred to other countries in a safe and organized fashion" - NONSENCE, there is nothing more permanent than temporary solutions; no country will accept them, it will be another burden on Israel. Israel has more than enough non-Jews, both Moslem and Russian. DEPORT THE SUDANESE TO EGYPT. Let Moslems take care of their brethren
10. Al-Qaeda has now his agents in Israel
David, France   (08.03.07)
With all this muslims from Sudan. Al-Qaesa has now agents to perpetrate troubles in Israel. In addition, all people from Africa will know now that Israel can welcome them. Millions of african will go to Israel, creating insecurity feeling and troublemaking, like in France.
11. Whatever
ben ,   singapore   (08.03.07)
be the decision , please dont send them to a country that kills them. A third resettlement migration process must be worked out by the international community. If the United nation could do that for the Vietnamese refugee crisis, WHY NOT NOW for these children who are running away from Sudan ? Mr. Ban of UN is a very clever man. The americans have always championed the rights of oppressed people. I know that for sure. Come on USA do it. It is worth it ,the american democratic system as we have seen all these years. USA please act for the your right hand sake. Divine Justice, Divine Mercy : -) As for the israeli politicians, well done keep knocking the doors of Mr. OLMERT.That old man has kindness burried in his heart some where. this I know. He will be moved. He will be moved. Do it !
12. other "moral obligations" neglected
Susan ,   Israel   (08.03.07)
like protecting our own citizens of Sderot, like resettling those kicked out of Gush Katif for no sane reason, etc.
13. idiots - now we will be flooded, the gates are open
Dan ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.03.07)
we are basically saying anyone can come here
14. all Sudanese can and will come here now
Julia ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.03.07)
new law of return for any Sudanese who wishes to come
15. I agree with number one...
Josh   (08.03.07)
16. I believe we have to help
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (08.03.07)
Each person's case has to be dealt with on an individual basis to determine if they are - indeed - refugees. But Israel cannot alone be responsible for these people's futures. There has to be a world-wide effort to provide a permanent solution for them.
17. well done Israel - a good start
Maria ,   London, UK   (08.03.07)
now you should say that any African assylum seeker can live in Israel and get citizenship
18. temporary solution -you have to be kidding
Jeremy ,   London, England   (08.03.07)
Temporary solution - you have to be kidding. No one else is going to take these people and now there is a huge incentive for more to come.
19. 63 MKs just signed the end of the Jewish State
David ,   Petach Tikva, Israel   (08.03.07)
They will come in the hundreds, thousands and tens thousands and hundreds of thousands. Watch it happen. Idiots, you have just said that anyone who wants to can come to Israel.
20. #17
rj ,   temporary in england   (08.03.07)
your out of your mind...let africans into Israel just as the pathetic pityful british governement has done in britain and totally ruin a country with the highest levels of racism and black on black killings outside america and africa...maria you take them into your own home and shelter the refugees do not expect and demand Israel does...
21. we are colonials in the world's eyes anyway..
Takan ,   Eilat   (08.03.07)
If nobody can help them, we should give them Gaza and see if they can make it a better place than the Palestinians. Send Hamas to Sudan, Uganda or else. -exchange of refugees- Not all refugees are violent and hateful.
22. darfur refugees
hjaglom ,   usa   (08.03.07)
This means that 57 MKs did n NOT sign this decent, moral, humane petition, which speaks to the very heart for our Jewish State. I was proud and impressed that those who did sign came from Left and Right, it is the decency of the other 57 that throubles me, Jew or Arab, each of whom has known abandonment and betrayal, who can these cold-hearted mks be, can we have a list of them for our future reference, so we will kno what kind of people we are voting for, who have learned the lessons of our history and who would have fit in Germany if they hadn;t happened to be Jews and would have gone along. ....Kol Ha'Kavod to you 63, no matter what your party or other beliefs, you have proved yourselves human!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
23. weren't we once despised and murdered?
Petra ,   usa   (08.03.07)
If I understand the problem it is Islamic terrorists who are murdering/maiming the Sudanese.. Durfur etc. Didn't the Nazis do this to us? Didn't America reject us and other nations as well? Remember the St. Louis? Wake up people, whether or not you like new countrymen and women, you are saving their lives and they may also repay you in kind someday. No Arab nation has the compassion as does Israel. That's a fact. Thank G-d the G-d of israel. We are a surerior people even if our politicians are not. HAve a heart remember, we once we strangers in a strange land..... Shalom
24. Lets put up a statue of liberty!
Mike ,   Jerusalem   (08.03.07)
Sure lets take in all the worlds needy and dilute the Jewish majority even more! We take in the MUSLIMS from Darfur, and the MUSLIM refugees from Iraq and then we can take in every single MUSLIM refugee from the world, that way we don't need to say we are giving the MUSLIMS the Right of Return , we just do it in a roundabout way! Where are all the wealthy Arab countries? Why don't they show MUSLIM charity and take in their brothers and sisters? Only the "friers" in Israel have to take in the MUSLIM refugees and end up being the minority here. Great way to destroy the state without firing a shot!
25. sudan refugees
michel ,   paris   (08.03.07)
sudaneese refugees are excecuted in the egypt -israel frontier by the egyptians forces. I didn't see any international reaction to this horrific murder. Are the muslim countries always authorized to do anything they want without assuming the concequences? We are confirming to them that this is the case.
26. darfur refugees in Israel
Henry Jaglom ,   L.A., USA   (08.03.07)
who are the 57 who have forgotten who they are???
27. 7. CLAPTRAP!
Buddah   (08.03.07)
7. " . . . a moral duty for our democracy. " CLAPTRAP! and to all the lefty friggin do-gooders', so bent on 'doing the right thing', they would even do the wrong thing in by Israel in order to earn some brownie points; Israel's moral duty is to PROTECT THE STATE AND HER CITIZENS! This move will only will lead to an unsustainable veritable flood, tens of thousands of refugees from Africa. What can be done to stop that? And it won't just be refugees from Darfur; many neighboring African country's poor will very swiftly learn to come too, 'freeloaders' as it were (and their Muslim). It all happens very quickly. The results....? This is a time when Israel cannot 'do the right thing', as it is 'one more catastrophe about to happen'. Choose your catastrophes' carefully.
28. #19 & others like him - where have you been?
(08.03.07)
The destruction was already initiated when Bielski and his Nativ thugs went dredging for sheister immigrants in the former USSR after most of the willing "Jews" had already come here. These Sudanese are actually FAR less likely to be as destructive as the former example to the Israeli /Jewish way of life. GUARANTEED you won't see their culture take over the way the other's did.
29. Thank You Israel!!
Sudanese supporter ,   Canada   (08.03.07)
As a Nubian Sudanese (we're the indigenous ppl of Southern Egypt and Sudan and have our OWN NON-ARAB language, history and culture), i would like to congratulate Israel for taking in some of the most destitute refugees, even though it is a country that has been in a state of war with its arab "neighbours" since its creation, even though they have their own share of poor Israelis in need. most people have an impression that all Sudanese are automatically muslims and therefore anti-israel. There are many Sudanese who support Israel and would love to see ties created between our nations. Not many ppl know the historic ties that once existed between the ancient Nubian civilization and ancient Israel.Tragically, Sudan has fallen prey to the false and destructive pan-arabist Islamist ideology that plagues our region and hampers any development of democratic civil society and that suppresses and oppresses non-arab and non-muslim ethnicities, indeed anyone who dares question the current despotic regime. God bless Israel and i thank you from the bottom of my heart! Allah yibarikkum u yahmeekum u yigaweekum, may God bless you, protect you and strengthen you
30. HOW COME THEY DON'T SETTLE IN EGYPT?
stude ham   (08.03.07)
Oh... could it be because the darfur victims are not good practising muslims of the mohamedan faith?
