61. #54 Josh I am a Chritsian & Charles & I have had respectable
jan ,   usa   (09.11.07)
conversations with each other, He has his beliefs, and I have mine, and we have a respect for each other over that. But why would you want to force someone to utter those words is beyond anything that Yashua has taught. This is very dangerous ground you are treading on here. Let him live his life, and you live yours. In the end Hashem will be the final judge of all.
62. David , Yeroushalaim
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.11.07)
He , Jerusalem syndrome ? don't make me laugh , he can't even develop this . For me he is not "kosher" at all . You know maybe that the Dutch people , not the Jewish , use this word "not Kosher" to designate a untrusthworty or a unreliable person . And that's what he is , he hides something , his writings are smelling treifer . Shana Tova
63. Jan
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.11.07)
I don't remember exactly about what we were talking , but that's not important . The importance is that you are a TRUE believer in the Christian faith , and i am a TRUE secular Jew . Not you , nor i did hide anything . So even we don't agree on different matters , we can respect other's beliefs . But sadly to say , there are people who want to be "holier as the Pope" [ a saying in one of my first languages ] You have this anywhere , be it in politics or religion . Those are the worst people . They brought us the worst inquisitors , the greatest nazis , communists and so on . Sad people
64. 60 - speaking of jerusalem syndrome...
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.11.07)
check out paqid's website about his self-appointed calling as the"chosen one". read it for yourself or, better yet, just ask him to deny it. some people are simply beyond parody.
65. #63 Shana Tova my friend & Shalom, Shalom.
jan ,   usa   (09.11.07)
66. NEONAZIS
Drouch   (09.12.07)
People are you OK? After talks like that what makes you better than Neonazis !!! Relax !!! You embarrass yourself and the Jewish people. (especially Charles)
67. Jan " Let him live his life, and you live yours."
Josh   (09.12.07)
I will as long as he is honest towards the Jews. He attacks Jews and befriends nothing but Christians. Any Jewish thought that enters the talkbacks, he attacks. He uses the Jewish thought out of context as a weapon for making obscene comments. He stands out as an ugly Jew, when I am certan he is not a Jew. If he cannot reject Christ as a Jew - he is a christian. If he believes he is right, and Jesus is waiting at the gate for him, he should stand up for who he is and not hide it. Instead he hides behind a lie. Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't Christianity teach you not to lie (bear false witness). It is not dangerous ground I am treading on, rather the opposite is true. Hashem will account for those who put stumbling blocks before the blind. I also enjoy that Charles has done it again - making instant friends on every article talkback. Wow! Jan you and charles are much alike. Tell Charles to stop playing both sides of the fence and testify to his false g-d's promise, as it is your duty as a Christian. All I ask him to do is put his words where his claim is. He says he is a Jew and Jews must reject foriegn g-ds and false prophets (Jesus does not match a single prophecy). So what is so bad about him rejecting Jesus. Is it not taught by Christians that the Old Testament is also a way in to heaven? So say it Charles! "Jesus is not my G-d, not the messiah, and not my savior." If not, say that you are a Christian believer who doesnt go to Church for the art, but to pray. I will say it: Jesus is not my G-d nor the Messiah of peace. Choose life or choose death - even G-d doesn't provide the liar with a free ticket. Choose Charles!
68. Jerusalem Syndrome
Josh   (09.12.07)
For those who are unaware, it is a syndrome that touches a man on the brain. It happens to what would appear to be normal people who come to Israel. Suddenly they think they are Jesus and walk through the streets with bedsheets thinking they are Jesus. It is almost as weird as the FBIs profile on mass murders. They all think they are Jesus and doing G-d's will. I have yet to hear of a mass murder thinking he is Moses. Odd. I have heard tale that on rare occasions, a Jewish person becomes Jesus the messiah. I am not a Christian nor a fallen Jew, but a returning Jew. From what I understand, people who get this snap out of it. It is liken to a possession. Jesus got his power from a fallen spirit from heaven that came in a lightning bolt. Oddly Jesus also stated he saw Satan fall from heaven in a lightning bolt. So many oddities.
69. Josh the goy decides who is Jewish
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.12.07)
Who has given you the right to ask someone what you ask ? you shouted at Paqid for asking you the same . Wha are you ? a returning Jew ? no you are only born to a shikse maybe with a Jewish father . You say you converted , conservative . That's not serious . And i don't believe it . You don't believe me , because you are a liar by yoursself , and you think that everyone is the same . For me you don't exist anymore , you are polluting the soil of Israel at 10 feet unther earth , if they did'nt throw you where you belong , a trash belt
70. Drouch
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.12.07)
This goy josh , converted as he says , writes always not Kosher tb's . There are smelling treif , he is not honest , not open [ those are two words who are not in his use ] With dishonest and fake people i can't talk on a nice manner , i know it's not nice , but you have to use harsh and bad tb's to show the anger you have against such "people" . He distord what people say , one day he said that he was converted in the USA , another time he tells it was here , he told he could have a Orthodox certificate for $ 500 [ if i say i could have something for $ 500 , it means that i could BUY it ] This way of talking is not mine , only with such people do i use this . I prefer to talk to TRUE believers , who are tolerant and not hatefull . We haven't to agree , but can have a sincere discussion , where evryone exposes his ideas , and respect the fact that not everyone has the same . שנה טובה
71. Josh (i mean the messiah) is not a returning Jew
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.12.07)
Josh, plain and simple, you are not a returning Jew as they don't need to 'convert' anyway. "returning Jews" is a term that many evengelical xtians use. Now since you have a 'conservative' 'conversion' it's simply not recognized by any Orthodox authority in the galut and especially here in Israel. End of story. Your next step is to attempt to convince an Orthodox Beit Din of your outlandish rant's in order to have them recognize you. I rather doubt they would put up with your speech for a second as the Chabad already have rejected you. We are a tight knit community and you will only fool people for a very short time. As for Charles, he for sure is no xtian. Secondly, you, as a non-Jew have no valid opinion. I may not agree with his opinion or belief, but I am sure glad he is part of Israel and you are not. Thank G-d!
72. David ,
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.12.07)
You say politelly what i'm saying in a very harsh way . But i have nothing to add , certainly not about what you wrote regarding me . I know a Yeroushalmi David , also Oleh from a western country , he had a uncle there called Sylvain . You?
73. Charles, gota run, Shana Tova, not related
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.12.07)
74. charles read your history books!
telavivit ,   israel   (09.12.07)
You wrote "If someone converts to the jewish faith , he is a follower of this faith , but not a Jew for me . He , or she , can't have this Jewish background , can't have the Jewish history engraved in his blood , as a TRUE JEW has" How many times do I have to post here- RUTH WAS A CONVERT!!!!!! Does that mean King David is not Jewish??????? hmmmmmmmmm the mind ponders
75. charles, david luckily its yom kippur soon!
telavivit ,   isreal   (09.12.07)
Who gave you the right to judge others. It is yom kippr soon hopefully you will be forgiven. By the way people like you guys give jew a bad reputation........ shana tova everybody!
76. Telavivit
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.13.07)
What happened to king David is known to me , but this is history , 3000+ years old . I'm talking of todays people . I had a colleague , convert to Judaism in the Orthodox , so best , way , a religious man , who became later a Gabbay in a Beth Knesseth . Well every time we had discussions , not religion , on dayly life , on politics , he had reactions that a Jew by birth would not have . This was begalut . I've heard the same stories from other persons in contact with converts , also Orthodox , and here we talk about a guy who pretends to be converted by conservative . Regarding forgiving , as i'm secular , i'm not awaiting anything as this
77. charles if u r secular why do seem to care so much
telavit ,   telaviv   (09.13.07)
Most of the converts will most likely fast on yom kippur Orthodox or not. Kol hachovod shil chem!
78. Telavivit
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.13.07)
Youy are not religious neither , writing today is not permitted . You don't need to be religious to be 100 % jewish . if a convert fast on yom kippour , that does not prove to me that he is a Jew .
79. 78 Charles
amnon   (09.13.07)
I recall in other talkbacks that you said that a Jew that converts Christianity is no longer Jewish. Your reasoning really makes no sense as I have seen what you say from time to time, especially since you yourself are atheist and consider yourself 100% Jewish. For example, if a so-called "messianic" Jew, who was born Jewish, practices their version of Judaism with certain modifications (as most of us do), that is actually more Jewish than yourself. Your argument on this issue is very highly subjective and nonsensical at times, which is why so many take issue with your opinion.
80. Amnon
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.13.07)
For me there is no grey in religion . You are a religious Jew or not . If you are religious , but not follow the Jewish religious laws , if you change , adapt those laws , you are not Jewish . But you can stay Jewish in heart and soul , from head to toe and be secular . You did'nt go to another religion , not messianic [ non] jew , nor christian , you stay 100 % jewish . Anybodywho is a messianic [ non] jew , has'nt any relation anymore to the jewish people .
81. Amnon pt II
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.13.07)
listen , if you consider the messianic [non] Jews as more Jewish as i am , tell me , where is your limit for being Jewish ? conservative or reform , maybe christians , they also changed something to the Jewish religion . The reforms ? i had a discussion here with a reform convert [ sorry RCA for citing this ] who was'nt even teached that writing is forbidden on Shabbat . So for me being a religious Jew , is to be Orthodox .
82. 80&81
amnon   (09.13.07)
For me, being born Jewish is something that can't be changed. It's in our DNA like you yourself said in #76. I'm no messianic but to me they are a Jewish sect because they place a high importance on Jewish tradition (which is way more than can be said about secular/atheist). It just seems strange to reject Jewish religion on the whole yet accept what the rabbis say on this issue without question. Shana Tova to you and yours.
83. Amnon
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.14.07)
What is Jewish tradition for you ? Only the tora laws , without the comments of our sages ? without everything that was added later , Shulchan Aruch and so ? Do you think that those sects are the true Jewish observant people ? i not . Been born Jewish can't been changed i agree . But this is your "physically" Jewishness . I said it already more than once . I did'nt see much Jewishness in Aaron Lustiger , the Jewish born bishop of Paris when he said his mass at the notre dame . Physically he was still Jewish , but in his head ? not of course . A secular Jew can remain Jewish in his head , not only because born so .
84. Amnon
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.14.07)
Where are your limits for calling someone from a sect or a deviation of the Jewish religion a Jew . You did not answer this . Christians also changed something , no ?
85. 83&84
amnon   (09.14.07)
Jewish tradition, according to the Rabbinic stream, is one of many streams which have come/gone/remain throughout our history. The Rabbis rejected, and some still do, the Kara'im as Jews, but they are wrong. It is their opinion based on their tradition they want to protect. In the same light, the messianics have their tradition based on their interpretation of the Tana"kh. They accept the Holy Scriptures and all the rest of it, but not the Rabbinic interpretation. Hence they are a Jewish sect in the truest sense of the word. What one believes throught their life can change, from the time they are born until they die. The Jewish "nepfesh" cannot be extinguished no matter what set of ideas one embraces or rejects, unless the Jewish genes are reduced by intermarriage. One a Jew, always a Jew.
86. Amnon
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.14.07)
Once "physically" a Jew , always "physically" a Jew . Can you consider a [ex] Jew who proffesses an other religion as being still Jewish ? I asked you : did you see something Jewish [ exept his face ] in this bishop Lustiger ? for me nothing . Do those sects not have their own interpretations of the Tanach ? You know certainly that many words and sentences can be interprated in different ways . Look only at the different traductions we have , what differences between them .
87. Amnon pt II
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.14.07)
you say that the rabbanim are wrong , that's your opinion . The messianic "jews" have their interpretation , who says they are right ? The rabbanim want to protect Judaism as they see it , this stream , you say it , has passed the whole history . Is it because they are wrong ? Could they hold generations of religious people with a wrong interpretation ? i have doubds .
88. 87
amnon   (09.14.07)
The Rabbis are wrong about the Kara'im because they are Jews in every sense of the word, including physically, except according to the Rabbis own narrow criteria of belief. Rabbinic Judaism only survived because the Temple, which is completely central to Torah, was destroyed. If the Temple remained, there would be several legitimate competing streams of Judaism, as there were then, most of which viewed what is now Rabbinic as quasi-heretical, and they did have legitimate objections to that "Temple-less" form of Judaism. It is what we have but it too is also a sect.
89. 86
amnon   (09.14.07)
With no disrespect, I see Lustiger as a Jew exactly as I see secular Jews: as Jews. Nothing can ever change that except several generations of intermarriage. The essence of Judaism is the belief on One God. Christians/messianics define that as they wish, it is their matter, but they attempt to do just that in the way they believe that God intended. Seculars, in my opinion and with no disrespect intended, are about as far away from that essence as a Jew can get. That does not invalidate their Jewishness even one degree, but it is hard to argue your point based on what the Jewish belief is at its core essence.
90. Amnon , you are totally wrong , sorry
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.14.07)
In what was Lustiger Jewish ? in his belief in a jew called jesus ? do you consider the christians , because they believe in one god as the Jews do , as being Jewish too ?
