33. #12: Why do you worship Idols?
Steve ,   US   (07.19.08)
Hero-worship is idolatry as another reader mentioned earlier. Let's take Qana, since you mentioned it. Hezbollah terrorists began the hostilities July 2006. It was an unprovoked act of war. Israel responded, albeit inadequatly. We know these jihadist killers hide amongst the civilian populace. This is a fact. Thus, when Israel retaliates, civilians are killed. It makes for good PR in the Muslim-Arab world. Israel released footage of Hezbollah jihadists firing rockets from the Qana area. Israel retaliated.
34. what a joke

35. MIXING UP THE ISSUES,STEVE....#27........and......#21
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (07.19.08)
I have never ever condoned the killing of the innocent............so by relating to incidents unrelated to this article is a clear indication of what you are trying to achieve.Stick to the point and you will be a better judge.Don't dodge the point. So goes for Steve on number 20.He has taken the verses of Quran out of the context and applied it to justify what he has written. Many in the past have attempted to do that but the intelligent Jew picks it up and knows the mischivious motives of ones like Terry.
36. To #8 the Israel-hater, some facts for you.
Tahl ,   Israel   (07.19.08)
So according to your logic, whoever kills more people, must be the bigger terrorist. Which is quite a convenient, overly-simplistic, and demagoguish tool for measurement. I have several questions for you: 1. Who started the Second Lebanon War? And even before the war, who provoked Israel, time and time again, firing at soldiers on the Israeli side of the border, abducting Israeli soldiers, and infiltrating into Israel for terrorist attacks, even after Israel completed its withdrawal from Lebanon, in 2000? All this without any Israeli provocation? 2. Who fired surgical strikes on soldiers, with as many efforts as possible to avoid civilian deaths - and on the other hand, who deliberately shot rockets at civilians, and boased about it? 3. Who used civilans as human shields, often threatining them with death, if they failed to cooperate? Who rejoiced and danced on the blood, when its human shields were dead? And on the other hand - who warned Lebanese citizens to leave their homes, so they wouldn't get hurt? 4. Who extends a hand of peace towards Lebanon, and who in Lebanon rejects this peace offer, time and time again? Who constantly strives to find excuses to keep the conflict alive, between Israel and Lebanon? 5. Who throws a hero's welcome to a childer-killer? Not that I would expect honest, unbiased answers from a consummate Israel-hater like yourself.
37. #12 How convenient to blame Sabra & Shatilla on Sharon.
Tahl ,   Israel   (07.19.08)
How convenient it is for Arabs and other Israel-haters, to pin the Sabra & Shatilla massacres on Sharon. The fact which everybody agrees to, is that Christian Fallanges performed these massacres. Sharon was nowhere near that area. Yet for some strage reason, instead of blaming the Fallanges, everybody is blaming Sharon and Israel. How convenient... As for Qana - the coward Hizbollah fighters were deliberately firing at Israel from the UN refugee camp, in the hope that Israel (who didn't know about the refugees) would fire there and kill the refugees. When that happened, Hizbollah joyfully danced on the blood. These are great examples of the hypocrisy in the Arab world, where Arab atrocities are played down, while Israel is always to blame. Answer me this, Ayman: what does Israel have to gain from killing innocent civilians? Clearly nothing. That's why we do our best to avoid it. As for child-killing - I agree with you that it's horrible and should never happen. But take a look which people are doing their best to avoid it, and apologize when that happens, and which people are taking pride in it? These are the same people, by the way, who use hide behind their own children, which they use as human shields. If you want peace with us - you must learn to love your children, more than you hate us!

39. THE WRONG DECISION: WAR
Arik Silverman ,   MIlwaukee USA   (07.19.08)
When the two were captured, Israel should have made the decision not to launch a military attack but to begin negotiations immediately. The decision to go to war was the wrong decision in all this. Instead we saw the usual reckless use of Israel's military might that killed 1,000 innocent Lebanese civilians and ruined large parts of the infrastructure of that country. Israel's destruction rained down even in Christian areas of Lebanon, where it has friends and de facto allies. It was a very bad demonstration to Israel's other "friends," that Israel will sacrifice them when it suits its purpose.

42. To 33
observer ,   Melbourne   (07.19.08)
TWO MASSACRES OCCURED IN QANA. THE FIRST WAS IN 1996, WHEN AN ISRELI JET BOMBED A UN BUILDING SHELTERING HUNDREDS OF WOMEN & CHILDREN & THE RESULTS WAS A BLOODY MASACRE . THE SECOND MASSACRE HAPPENED IN 2006 WAR. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE WHERE YOUR JUSTICE SYSTEM WAS WHEN THOSE MASSACRES HAPPENED. TO YOU, THE SOLDIERS WHO COMMITTED TOSE CRIMES WALKED UNTACHED. SORRY. THEY ARE YOUR HEROS.
43. #15 neither defending Kuntar, nor defending the trial
observer   (07.19.08)
((He was on a suicide mission and smashing a little 4 year old jewish girls skull is all part of what Islam teaches you....)) -Kuntar is Druze; not a Muslim, not a Shiite, even if he says that he accepts Emam Hussein; it's part of Druze faith to say so. -Suicide mission? Kuntar was a member of the secular Palestine Liberation Front (PLF) headed by the Secular Christian George Habash. The mission was in 1979 when neither the group adapted suicide, nor did any other Palestinian orgnization adapted suicide missions at that time. -Even Hizbullah has announced that the Resistance have no interest in defending Kuntar's acts. It's Kuntar himself who has to bear the burden of his acts.
44. Our local paper
Joseph ,   Chicago area   (07.19.08)
Our papers said that Olmert arranged the deal one day before testimony by Talansky hoping the deal with hizbullah will help him. He had to do very fast because Talansky was coming to Israel. Hizbullah also knew Olmert's problem.
45. To 19, Jeffrey, Mr Jump To Conclusions
Vince P ,   Chicago   (07.19.08)
Sorry Jeffrey, but I'm a Conservative Christian... The Marxist Obama is the last person I would ever support. Iraq is going well, however, until the regime in Iran is gone , Iraq will never be a success.. as soon as we leave Iran will cause the whole thing to collapse. The biggest failure of Bush is delaying on Iran. Does anyone really believe that Iran can be deterred from the course that it set itself on? What is to gain by waiting? Day by day Iran makes it plans and scheme its schemes... placing its agents all over the world. This is a disaster , getting worse every day. Condi Rice's State Dept is another disaster. It's a disaster for the US, it's a disaster for Israel. It's mishandled Iran, Israel, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, Syria , and Russia. Those are the facts? Should they be celebrated or denounced? And things are all down-hill from here.. because the next two in line are certainly no better.
46. Made in Israel
Shlomo the Homo ,   Tel Aviv   (07.19.08)
Lebanon did not make a hero out of Kuntar. Israel did. Why Israel release him if he is a baby killer. Israel know that by releasing him it will admitted to defeat and that will make Kuntar a hero in Lebanon. What hapend if Kuntar still sitting in his cell today ?
47. US Media
Hilda ,   US   (07.19.08)
I don;t know where these US newspapers are. Our local paper never mentioned one word about the deal. I guess they were afraids to be too joyful. Id Israel had done something they had perceived as wrong, it would have been on the front page of this liberal hack. To be fair even the talk show hosts except for Mike Savage never discussed it either. Everyone is being very silent . Did Obama for instance decry it . I guess ot because he is going to talk with them. Did the president I guess not because he sent emissaries to Iran to to talk. I didn;t hear NcCain either. That's becausenobody cares when it comes to Jews until it is too late then they wring their hands and say so sorry.
48. Read Jeff Jacoby's article and WEEP
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.19.08)
Click on the link and read the whole article. It is most urgent that Israel IMMEDIATELY gets a new government that knows how to defend the Jewish people and defeat the enemy. Time is running out. aish.com Hezbollah Wins by Jeff Jacoby 19 July 2008 Hezbollah is now far better armed than it was in July 2006, with an estimated 40,000 rockets deployed north of the border, and the ability to strike 97 percent of Israel's population. Israeli military intelligence reports that some 2,500 Hezbollah terrorists are in southern Lebanon, and have built a series of elaborate underground bunkers equipped with rocket launchers and mortar guns that can be fired by remote control. http://www.aish.com/jewishissues/middleeast/Hezbollah_Wins.asp
49. soldier captives
Marv   (07.19.08)
Soldiers in my opinion want to know that you will try to bring them back when they are alive, not when they are dead. That you will be decisive and tough. Ask John McCain. The famiies wanted any hope and at worst to bury their own which by the way, they never looked at. Now, if Hezbollah demanded dismantling of the state for 2 live soldiers, would you have agreed? olmert would have, no doubt. So probably would the families. Olmert never insisted during the negotiations of proof that the soldiers were alive. A state cannot continue when it worries to trade body parts for killers. Do you worry for the body parts of 6 million dead. Their souls are free thats what counts. This Olmert will go down in infamy. A coward, lier and small time hood who taught his own sons to flee the country, this is the garbage dweller that israel permits to run and ruin the country along with a mentally detached defense minister, a foreign minister who is into unreal horizons, and a bunch of asskissing MKs who worry about shekels which consitute the most cowardly government ever assembled. They would have released adoph hitler for the remains, thats how reckless they are. Enough of this, much as the US is sick of Olmert. Shteinitz, Eitam, Orlev, Eldad, Yaalon will know what to do. Down with the old. Even Netanyahu can become UN ambassador. His time as PM is over. Let Shtienitz do it. One thing-Olmert needs, just as kuntar, time in jail, long hours for the harm he had done to Israel. His spinning and bulling are those of a sick ugly ogre who everyone knows that at his core, if a spineless coward, covered by a law degree and a way with words.
50. 39 It was not the wrong decision...
s ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.19.08)
Hez kept taunting Israel for years. It was a disaster waiting to happen. It is not Israel that sacrificed all these lives, it is Hez. Hez has cause the war, Hez had no intent to negotiate and no intent to provide info on what happened to Ron Arad. Hez violated Israel and was hiding behind all the innocent people in Lebanon. Hez didn't fight a regular war but had all the support from the Lebanese. Hez weren't wearing uniforms, Hez were breaking all the laws with the Lebanese consent. So, please take responsibility to what happened. It didn't happen "just like that", the same way that if there is a war with Iran, it will not happen "just like that". Iran is taunting and very dangerous. Then all the innocent victims and nice intelectual people in Iran cannot come afterwards and cry about the damage that is done if they suppor tthe totalitary regime. Lebanon is allowing a totalitary regime to rule the country, so they have to live with the consequences. We live with the consequences of imperfect leadership but at least, we do aspire to peace and prosperity. We have no intent in destroying anyone or taunting anyone, on the contrary.

Hansje   (07.19.08)
Well said, I couldn't say better.
52.  Destroy Hamas now!
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (07.19.08)
In a video posted on a Hamas website in December, the commander of the terrorist wing of Hamas in North Gaza, Raed Said Hussein Saad (Abu Muadh), made clear that Hamas would continue fighting not “one inch of our holy land is in the hands of the Jews.” To make clear that he was talking about the destruction of Israel, as opposed to simply the West Bank, he said, “Our flag will fly on the minarets of Jerusalem, and the walls of Acre, and [in] the quarters of Haifa” – all of these are Israeli cities. More about Hamas at : http://xrl.us/bjjto http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2007/12/comments-on-hamas-charter-by-maurice.html
53. You do not talk to terrorists, you fight and defeat them.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (07.19.08)
Since Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005 Iranian-backed Hamas, which is pledged to wipe out Israel and every Jew, has built a well-trained standing army of at least 20,000 men and a huge arsenal of weapons smuggled in from Egypt, and relentlessly attacks Israel with rockets and bombs. Israel should finally mount a major incursion into Gaza to deal with Hamas. If it does, Western opinion, which largely ignores Israeli maximizetion, can be guaranteed to cry ‘atrocity’ once again. And just as before, Hamas will deliberately place women and children in the line of fire to maximize civilian casualties in order further to inflame that opinion. That is their way of “fighting” as explained at : http://xrl.us/bi9r6
54. IF KUNTAR WAS ISRAELI ACCUSED OF THE SAME IN GAZA
DOOMHAM ,   EFFING, PARASITE-UK   (07.19.08)
No trial required - you all know how it ends.
55. # 11
(07.19.08)
For whatever reason you choose to forget that were four men originally and not two. All four could have been spread out to draw fire away from Kuntar. Why did he shoot them? Because he wasn't going to take them hostage so they had no value to him. The police shot up his getaway boat that he arrived in and knew he was caught. The question is why is Kuntar the only person in the world privy to the alleged published report in 1979 of the IDF having shot the daughter by mistake? That is sometrhing is trying to pass off to the Arab world. You know why Peres pardoned Kuntar. It wasn't because he was innocent it was to get the two corpses back. Finally, the idea of Israel filing charges against Kuntar in a Lebanese court is the most stupid idea you've ever had.
56. # 54 Since it never happened, we can't say

57. The Putrid Truth Of The Matter Is....
Adina Kutnicki ,   Israel   (07.19.08)
Israel's leaders really believe they have pulled the wool over everyone's eyes, and thereby displayed their 'humanity' by juxtaposing the (perverted) lengths they will go to in order to retrieve their soldiers. Nonsense. NOTHING exposed more their inhumanity than this devilish swap. They are directly responsible for ALL the associated deaths which this 'exchange' will herald. ALL the main terrorists from the two infitadas came from these insane prior releases.Have they learned NOTHING?? Therefore, for boxes of bones (and of course they knew they were dead!) they have unleashed new and improved Jew killers. By the way, IF they still feign innocence that they did not know they were dead, surely they could have held onto Kuntar until they knew the truth. At that point, a NORMAL and MORAL leadership would have executed him on the spot, stuffed his body on a box and returned him to his adoring fans!
58. UN Resolution 1701 BETRAYED Israel, Lebanon & Free World
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.19.08)
During the 2006 Second Lebanon War, under INTENSE U.S. pressure, Israel's leaders agreed to UN Resolution 1701 that prevented the goal vital to Israel's security - eliminating the rocket threat from Lebanon. The result: Hezbollah now have far more rockets-40,000 as of July 2008 and able to hit 97 percent of Israel's population. UN Resolution 1701 successfully prevented Israel from defeating Iran-Syria's terrorist army Hezbollah, thus greatly weakening Israel and empowering Hezbollah to violently take over Lebanon. Another victory for global jihad CREATED by Western ruling elites - another victory for the Islamics in the war against the world's non-Muslims.
59. NO! Don't Release LIVE Terrorists for DEAD Bodies !
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.19.08)
Freeing savage, serial child killer Kuntar and other cruel murderers is evil. Pro-Islam TERROR Enabler Israeli Leaders endanger ALL innocents. How dare evil men give live terrorists in exchange for dead bodies? And totally devoid of ALL conscience, provide the terrorists with a huge army of freed prisoners to rejoin global jihad against Israel's innocents. No one trusts the word of terrorists who claim they don't know where the victims are, or that the victims are already dead. Ron Arad, Shalit, other POW/MIAs, Dana Bennet, Pollard, and the 12 Iranian Jews imprisoned in Iran arrested in the 1990s trying to escape from Iran MUST BE RETURNED! Stop their suffering! If you are kidnapped, the government does not care if the terrorists kill you-they will eagerly give many live terrorists in exchange for your murdered body. PREVENT future kidnappings and murders of innocents! Only ONE prisoner without BLOOD on his hands for ONE LIVE Israeli captive.
60. #58: UN Sec. Council Res. 1701 and Western ruling elites.
(07.19.08)
There is one Western ruling elite predominantly responsible for 1701. His name is George W. Bush.
