I grew up in a pretty tolerant and liberal place, California, and I've never seen the sort of intolerance found amongst certain members of the secular population against Haredim, to say nothing of the government and media bias.

I cant count how many times i was pushed out from one neighboorhood in Yerushalim to the next. Though I am religous I wear regular secular clothing. If i did not get the message a chain over my door was usually enough to convince me that i was not wanted.

There are many non kosher meat selling shops and supermarkets in my town . Nobody has told me to buy meat there . Tiv Ta'am disturbs the Charidim ? can't they look at the other side of the street ? They think this chain has opened there to embarrass them ? Do they think that Tiv Ta'am has'nt made a market study and seen that they can invest there because there is a need for their shop ? How stupid some reactions are . To open such a shop in an Arab town or country . Who wants to throw money away ? if there is no demand for pork , why open a shop there ?

Unless you condone the smoking of cigarettes in shul, and eating in the synagogue treif THEN DON'T PEDLE TOLLERANCE ! It too has limits that unchecked evolve into CAOS ! YES, THERE IS A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING ! IT'S CALLED DERECH ERETZ ! Your advocacy for unrestrained liberty, goes FAR BEYOND the strictures of derech eretz !

Derech Eretz is also not saying shut up . Now opening a supermarket in Tel Aviv , not such a Orthodox town as you must know , has nothing to do with this , it's a purely commercial act . If they opened there , it's because there is certainly enough demand for their products in this place . .
