1. Make Aliyah
Mark ,   Maale Adumim   (01.27.09)
There is only one answer Aliyah, Israel welcomes all Jews with open arms.
2. I miss the days of Tansu Ciller and Suleyman Demirel
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (01.27.09)
The first was a prime minister, the second was a president. Both were great leaders who marched their country forward, away from the backward fundamentalist Islam, and both were great friends of Israel. But nowadays, Turkey has deteriorated badly to barbaric religious fanticism. Still I believe not all Turks today hate Israel and automatically side with the Palestinians (truthfully, Turks have very little in common with them), and many of them miss Ciller and Demirel too.
3. COME HOME! COME HOME!COME HOME
ROLAND SEENER ,   LONDON ENGLAND   (01.27.09)
TURKEY IS NOT NOW A SAFE HAVEN FOR JEWS.IT IS BETTER FOR THE COMMUNITY TO UPROOT THEMSELVES AND MOVE TO ISRAEL.THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE THOUGHT UPPERMOST IN THE MIND AS A COUNTRY WITH MOSLEM TRADITIONS IS NOT A GUARANTEE FOR JEWISH TRADITIONS.THEY SHOULD MOVE...IF NOT NOW,...WHEN?

5. To Leyla Navaro. DUTY of the Government of Turkey.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (01.27.09)
You wrote :” "I feel worried, sad and scared for myself and for my country's future, which is leaning towards racism." Leyla, while walking on the street or going somewhere in town, always remember YAHWEH, the Supreme Lord -- and thus, you WILL be protected by YAHWEH, the Supreme Lord. Be sure of that. AS soon as you remember YAHWEH, you will feel that ALL your worries are gone, you will feel that ALL sadness is gone. BTW anyone who remembers YAHWEH, the Supreme Lord, will be protected by YAHWEH, the Supreme Lord. The only thing one has to do is to endeavour to remember YAHWEH -- it is that easy, it is that simple. You wrote :” Am I still a guest in this land (i.e. Turkey) where I grew up, fulfill my duties as a citizen and actively contribute to its development?" Leyla, you are NOT a guest in Turkey. Why not ? Because you are born in Turkey. Because of that (i.e. being a national of Turkey), it is the DUTY of the Turkish Government to protect you and ANY other national of Turkey -- without looking at the religion or colour of its OWN citizens. In the eyes of the Government of Turkey -- ALL of its nationals should be equally protected. It is the DUTY of the Government of Turkey to make sure that ALL its citizens feel at home in Turkey. And those who disturb that peace at home should be (harshly) PUNISHED by the Government -- even though the culprits may be of Muslim origin. SO, it is the DUTY of the Government of Turkey to speak soothing words to its OWN citizens, although of a different religion, so that they continue to feel at-home in Turkey.
6. Erdogan and AKP are responsible for this.
Turkey   (01.27.09)
Erdogan and his ruling party AKP are responsible for these problems, they alienate and opress the seculars and spread fear in the country, they drive people for radical Islam. They encourage local and national media to spread hatred against the seculars and the Jews. They have been doing this for years, what you see with recent problems is only the symptom.
7. # 2 Do you know what you are talking about?!
Turkey   (01.27.09)
Tansu Ciller is probably the most corrupt PM in history of Turkey. I guess she is a fugitive now, she would be tried for corruption deals. I don't think anyone in Turkey would claim that they love her now. Olmert would look like an angel next to her in terms of corruptions. Demirel has his own big folder of mistakes and has been confessing in pain since he left political life. Both Demirel and Ciller, together with some others, are not missed in Turkey at all. Ciller was in a coalition government with Refah Party who is the father party of ruling AKP and Erdogan, Refah was a real Islamist party. It was Turkish military who initiated 'February 28'postmodern coup' to remove the Islamist Refah Party from power and held elections. It was also Turkish military who pragmatically formed close ties with Israel, only then Ciller and Demirel had to follow the policy which the Turkish military set up. But now, Erdogan silenced all his opponents, he is setting up his religious fascist system in Turkey, and he is targeting seculars and the military. The success of Erdogan is he looked much more moderate than Refah Party and he bonded with the religious people, the uneducated poor, the Kurds, the minorities, the EU, the rich right-wing liberals because he promised freedom to all...and there he is ruling the country in his own fascist ways. Very dark days indeed.
8. Turkey condems Israel
josef szmuda ,   los angeles usa   (01.27.09)
Israel imports many products(especially pasta products) from Turkey. Israel should seek other sources and let Turkey rot with their goods. When you hit them in their pockets they feel it. Josef Szmuda
9. I HATE YOU, TURKS
Avraham ,   NYC   (01.27.09)
10. to 8
Levon ,   Weimar   (01.27.09)
Turkey gives a f...k to your boycott. What do you think, who you are?? First wash your mounth before you speak and look to the dirty politics of Israel. - Israel is a supporter of turkish fascism. - Israel is a state of liar and genocide denier (armenian) !!!!!!!
11. Good! Serves them right
Armenian ,   NYC   (01.27.09)
Turkish jews came to US to pressure the government into denying the Armenian Genocide. Now let them get a taste of what it feels like to be 'scared'. You people are no different than Ahmedinajad.
12. # 8 You are racist and ignorant.
(01.27.09)
Your ignorance and hatred make you generalize a government's action to a whole nation. Remind you, all anti-Semites do the same. Also, remember, it was the Turks who saved the Jews throughout history while Jews were being persecuted in Europe. You should be ashamed of your ignorance and hatred, but look at yourself you write it in capital letters to get noticed even more. How low and ridiculous you can get!
13. Atatürk
Miriam ,   Canada   (01.27.09)
Atatürk is turning over in his grave- Turkey is defiling the memory if its beloved president- . There goes another holiday destination....
14. Leyla, Turkish Jews: Come Here And Be A Host
Brana Lobel ,   Israel   (01.27.09)
not a guest. It doesn't look good for you in your country of birth. Here is where Jews belong. Sure, you love the country where you were born. However, this is your real country, the land Hashem promised us if we lived up to the covenant. There is nothing like being in a Jewish country, getting on Jewish buses with Jewish bus drivers, eating Jewish food, drinking Jewish wine made in Israel, celebrating Shabbath and praying. And if you want to do something more hip or chic you can listen to Jewish musicians, watch Jewish sports teams, go to fancy Jewish restaurants and Jewish resorts. We have everything from the ancient to the modern to the space age...and the future site of the Third Temple. So come...Erez is longing for you. Don't make us have to come rescue you with airplanes.
15. True Jews support Kurdish and Armenian resistence!
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (01.27.09)
16. #9: There are plenty of decent Turks who dislike this.
Zvi   (01.28.09)
Don't hate entire nationalities. It's stupid and pointless.
17. Views on Turkey, Israel, Palestine and Turkish Jews
Bülent Akin ,   Antalya Turkey   (01.28.09)
1) Most of them being able to trace their citizenship back for more than 500 years Turkish Jews belong to this country more than anybody else. 2) It is true that both anti-semitism and anti-americanism is gaining ground in Turkey. At the same time, however, there is a growing sentiment among ordinary people that Turkey must protect its non-muslim minorities. Whenever radical nationalists or islamists verbally or physically attack Jews or Armenians you will also find not only police but also neighbours to defend them. 3) Tel Aviv provoked Erdogans anti-Israeli rhetoric because it let him appear like an idiot. Tel Aviv should not have engaged Ankara in its peace talks with Syria knowing that the Gaza operation was to come. 4) Ordinary Turks' -I am not talking about the not-ignorable number of wanna-be-Arab islamists who burn Israeli flags on Turkish streets- compassion for the tragedy in Gaza is far more authentic than lip service Israelis are used to in the Arab world. Ordinary Turks are at best indifferent towards Arabs, but we are deeply touched by the suffering of the Palestinian people. If I was an Israeli I would be worried about how rapidly friendly attitudes towards Israel become hard to defend in the European and Turkish public. The death toll of hundreds of women and children in Gaza is too cynic as a proof of deterrence towards your Arab enemies. And this kind of deterrence is -at best- useless for it only creates bigger numbers of next generation terorists. The more reckless and inhumane Israel becomes in this struggle the more friends will turn their back to Israel. Where is your leadership to revive the peace process? If Israel goes on like this Apartheid will be an euphemism for what happens to Palestinians in Israel, Westbank, and Gaza. Israelis can't go on treating Palestinians like this without losing the dignity of being citizens of an honorable and democratic state. This is how it looks from outside of Israel and the US. 5) Unlike Europeans Turks know how deeply terrorism hurts. We are slowly but surely learning that we cannot defeat Kurdish terrorists by sacrificing our democracy. As we go through this process do you want to make us believe that it is worth degenerating Israel to a rogue state just for "deterrence"?
18. A-R-M-E-N-I-A
Arie ,   BaGolan   (01.28.09)
and now they massacre Kurds. Take the hint?
19. #15 read about how Armenians massacred Jews
Ziv   (01.28.09)
and read about how both religious Kurds and seperatist Kurds support Palestinian and Arab armed groups against Israel. Will you say that true Jews support Kurdish and Armenian again? I wonder...
20. # 9
(01.28.09)
Your ignorance and hatred make you generalize a government's action to a whole nation. Remind you, all anti-Semites do the same. Also, remember, it was the Turks who saved the Jews throughout history while Jews were being persecuted in Europe. You should be ashamed of your ignorance and hatred, but look at yourself you write it in capital letters to get noticed even more. How low and ridiculous you can get!
21. #11 Armenia is good a friend of Ahmedinejad
Ziv   (01.28.09)
Armenian leaders gave a honorary doctorate to Ahmedinejad a few months ago. Armenia is a big ally to Iran since Iran supports Armenia's occupation of Azeri land. Iran is also worried about its own Azeri population. Be ashamed of yourselves Armeanians, you are allying with Holocaust denier Iranian fascist leaders because they support your occupation.
22. Memories of the Ottoman rule anyone?
King Ofer the Messia   (01.28.09)
23. Turkish Jews should stay away from Zionism and Israel
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (01.28.09)
Turkish jews need not fearful of anti-semitism - anti-jewish remarks and some signs were not Turkish origin but possibly European provocation or from those in European line of thought. 1. Anti-semitism is not likely in Turkey, Evne Racism cannot find any foothold in Turkey, muslim belief cannot be anti-semitic because Arabs are also a semitic nation, Israelis and Arabs are from the same race different tribes. 2. Turkish jews should avoid any connection with Israel and Zionism and draw a definite line between their jewish belief and Zionism 3. Avoid double nationality especialy with Israel 4. Dont make contributions to Zionist organizations and Israel
24. #23. Intimidation of Jews is "antisemitic"
EgyptJewRefugee ,   Geneva, Switzerland   (01.29.09)
#23 Intimidating Jews with threats not to support Israel is "antisemitic." Jews can no longer live in fanatical Moslem countries. By the way we are not Arabs nor are we from the same race. However the Turks are Arabs.
25. # 24
(01.29.09)
Jews and Arabs are both Semitic people. Arabic and Hebrew are coming from the same roots just as their original speakers. You would know it very well as you are an Egyptian Jew. Face it, Jews and Arabs are from the same tribes. As for Turks, they have nothing to do with Middle Eastern tribes, they are originally from Asia and are not related to any Arabic or other Middle Eastern tribes at all.
26. Iran, Venezuela, Spain, Turkey . . .
Chrisona ,   Chicago.IL   (01.29.09)
"not all Turks today hate Israel and automatically side with the Palestinians (truthfully, Turks have very little in common with them)" How much do Turks have in common with Iranians? Or Spaniards and Venezuelans for that matter?
27. The jews in Iran have it easy!
IRAN#1   (01.30.09)
The largest jewish community in the ME outside of Israel. But still the zionists think Iran is anti-semitic!!!! I am loving this new found respect for the zionists in the world, really!
28. Jews are already willing to hate each citizen of "Togarmah".
Turk ,   Turkiye   (01.30.09)
Those Turkish citizens are "projection" of Jews in Israel who attack to another Israelis who don't celebrate Shabat for example. But all the Turks are the same for you afterall...what a pity.
29. #24 please allow me to educate you
Phillip ,   new york   (01.31.09)
The latest genetic testing of DNA from peoples all around the Middle east shows that the Jews are most closely related to Kurds and Armenians. The genetic relationship between Jews and arabs is much less. Please refer to the University of Arizona and Tel Aviv University studies to confirm this.
30. Israel Can Help stop Anti semitism
gisele ,   Beirut   (01.31.09)
By acting like a nation that respect Human rights of others and respect international law , and stop behaving like a bully and above the Law . It should stop occupation and threatening lebanon and palestinians , it should treat palestinians like human beings . Im sure anti semitism will stop and the neigbours in the ME will have no problem having relations with Israel (even if I Do not support such relations as i do not trust israel and its evil agenda . But i hate no problem with french british and Moroccan Jews )
