31. Our tragic...
Lior ,   Israel   (03.16.09)
When and if those poor souls carry out their mission they will not get a free pass as 'angry justified people' by the world. No easy excuses will be given to them as to all the others who carry out attacks. The anger that for instance Oslo gave us dead Jews for everything we sacrificed and gave, gave us nothing but more hate and revulsion from the world. It gave us more of our loved ones to sit Shiva for. Everyone has an excuse but Jews. This is a fact. Everyone else can be pushed but we can not. Everyone else can suffer but we are not. Everyone else has a great majority of the world on their side but we do not. I remind you Samir Kuntar released in the last kidnap deal was praised by Abbas and Iran and every other terrorist entity on the earth. Abbas wasted no time but to make a congratulatory visit to him in Beirut. The world stood silent. Imagine when Kuntar took time away from Hezbollah training to proclaim he would not rest until all of Israel was destroyed. More silence. Angry Jews have no one to speak for us except ourselves. Abbas santioned posters throughout the West Bank which shows all of Israel, Palestine to which every head of state across the world is aware of. Silence. Those posters are not a joke or a ruse. They represent what the whole of the Palestinian people desire. We are walking into fire and the world will gladly watch. We can only turn to ourselves. In no way do I sanction gunning down those filthy ruthless terrorists but from the depths of my heart I truly understand where these people are coming from. The very fiber of Israel is being destroyed a little at a time and for this just watch every wire service on the planet will now write about the --->Jewish (arab hating) 'terrorists' who plan on revenge. The appeasers who talk away Palestinian terror as though it were nothing or at best justified will have a field day with this.
32. Why are all these terrorists still alive?
Naomi ,   Netanya   (03.16.09)
When Feiglin is PM, this will cahnge
33. How stupid can you get?
IRAN#1   (03.16.09)
SO you think you can kill some folks and they will not retaliate!?!? You can't be that dense.....might as well put a bullseye sign on your forheads.
34. think of it not as "revenge" but as "fulfillment"
tom ,   toronto, canada   (03.16.09)
it's a "fulfillment" of their desire to go directly to "paradise" (or wherever mass murderers are sent in the moslem afterlife). death is a very useful form of deterrent, because dead terrorists send a much different message than live ones, who can brag about "defeating the israelis". we saw this in the misbegotten deal with hezbollah, where releasing them alive was a major propaganda victory for nasrallah. also, by not avenging murders, israel loses respect, which in the arab world only invites more attacks.
35. The Torah and civil law
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (03.16.09)
When we were a desert people, we had daily contact with G-d, through the patriarchs. When we were slaves in Egypt, Moses had that contact. And G-d, knowing he was sending us into the iniquity of "cities," gave Moses the Ten Commandments. What I take that to mean is that G-d was telling us he would no longer be with us on a day-to-day basis. But he left us with ten commandments that served us in good stead -- and continue to do so. Out of it have come -- and not just for Jewish societies -- a full code of laws that are remarkably similar to that given to the Jewish people almost six thousand years ago. When we entered Canaan, we thus no longer were a desert tribe living a hardscrabble existence. The ruthless nature of laws required for the desert existence must therefore be tempered with what the laws of our society state, and how we adhere to those laws. I know of no canon of law anywhere that allows the taking of law into one's own hands. That is perhaps the laws of a fierce nomadic tribe traipsing through the Hindu Kush, but it isn't mine. Doesn't anyone understand that personal vigilantism necessarily degrades the morality of the individual that engages in such behavior? Israel is a society of laws. Jews must observe this, otherwise we will lose the most important thing: our sense of who we are. My "Jewishness" is not for sale, at any price.
36. that is all these criminals understand
rachel ,   usa   (03.16.09)
an eye for an eye .......
37. I am against terror but I consider this effort very fair
William ,   Israel   (03.16.09)
I believe the one reason why Pals accept terror so much is because it's not visited upon them in the same way. When they are searched at a checkpoint or a curfew is placed on them by the army, what they see is the IDF but what they think they see is every Israeli man, woman, and child. They applaud when children are ripped to pieces, considering it equal to their humiliation at being searched for bombs. I truly believe that bringing the same upon them, on a personal level, would best drive that message home. Infact, stop sending in the IDF. Use qassams, a car bomb to bring down half the Ramallah Mall, a bike bomb in front of a pizzeria, and eventually the message will sink in. When its personalized, people's perspectives change. When it's far from them, people make decisions based on emotions and not reality. At the very least, those released from jails should be targeted.
38. #33 Iran - Have you read your post?
William ,   Israel   (03.16.09)
"might as well put a bullseye sign on your forheads." We've had one for centuries, it's called being Jewish. How is this supposed bullseye today different from that in 1920 when Arabs indiscriminately ran amock killing Jewish civilians? And this from a country who has killed more children and "infidels" according to Sharia law than most Arab countries.
39. THAT'S THE WAY OF THE MIDDLE EAST
IRAN LAST   (03.16.09)
AND IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS SINCE ISLAM'S CLAIM TO KNOW GOD OTHERWISE THEY WILL KEEP KILLING YOU ONE WAY OR THE OTHER GOT IT?
40. Torah and civil law
Shlomo ,   LA   (03.16.09)
You have a right to rise up and kill one who would kill you. In this case, there is no doubt that those released have and will kill, so there is no violation of Torah, in fact it would be an obligation to protect innocents. Besides, wouldn't it be a good thing for the state to play the same game of deniability that is so often used against it?
41. Yet people like #22 support Pal terrorist violence
William ,   Israel   (03.16.09)
while decrying Israel's right to justice in light of said violence. Bob, no one (and I really mean NO ONE) in Israel gives a rat's ass about the comments coming from a nation of settlers telling us how to act as they rally behind Pals who target and kill our children and civilians. A dingo has more credibility than you do you.
42. #27 - what you call extra-judicial is actually quite legal
William ,   Israel   (03.16.09)
Killing a known terrorist who admits publicly to the killing of Israelis is not considered extra-judicial, it is absolutely legal. Yet, your ilk will claim support for Pals who intentionally target women and children, labeling them as "freedom fighters". I would like to see your own MI5 and police drop the guns, and try to arrest killers instead, placing their lives and many more on the line, because "all people deserve a day in court". In Israel, lives are worth more than that, and if saving a life means extinguishing Rantisi and Haniyeh, than so be it. Stop awarding terror!!
43. MY OLD CLASSMATE
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (03.16.09)
Mordechai Schijveschuurder was my classmate in Amsterdam and after the murder off him and part off his family, it was my main motivation to come and live here, because the evil savages that exist among us will never defeat the Jewish people. He was the son off holocaust survivors and a remarkable human being. The reason his children react like this, is because the state off Israel has become a corrupt, weak and useless entity were the word justice has no meaning. Its leadership is marred by thievery, criminal neglect and selfish coldblooded opportunism. These scoundrels have no principle nor moral obligation , to honor the blood off childeren, women and men slaughtered in a most devious and cowardice way. This is only done so Olmert and his criminal gang can claim that they have achieved something. Olmert and all the people like him are responsible for people starting to act on their own accord. It is clear that Israeli society is disintegrating, because its foundation is rotten to the core. While these Herzelists claim moral superiority, they have lost their humanity a long time ago and have turned into ruthless calculated manipulators, who will stop at nothing to follow their dirty agenda off Hellenism. Basicly the state has become a enemy off its own people.
44. Sclait can B feeded without releasing terrorists
sam ,   USA   (03.16.09)
45. where can i donate money?
(03.16.09)
46. #35
Ami'hai   (03.16.09)
Purim was last week, and so many people (including you) have already forgotten one of the main point ??! Sometimes, we must fight to destroy the ones who only want one thing : to kill us. As it was with Aman, and with Amalek, we MUST fight back. As long as we do not kill for killing, but only to defend ourselves, it's necessary to go on.
47. Jewish Terrorists
(03.16.09)
That's great...just add more fuel to the anti-semitic fires that we are so good at putting ourselves into. Now this organization in addition to Kahane and Kach will be publicized as an outlawed Jewish terror group in the Western World and will Jews across the Western World. Excellent.
48. How stupid can you get ? #33
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (03.16.09)
Why don't you tell us? I've yet to see a dead person retaliate at all.
49. So make terrorism a capital offense
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (03.16.09)
Wouldn't that be a better way to handle terrorists? Every country that has capital punishments includes a death penalty statute for terrorism. Let Israel enact a death penalty for terrorism -- even attempted terrorism. That would appear to appease what seems to be the overwhelming majority of TBers on this thread. At least it would be legal. It would also, per force, have to be extended to Jewish "terrorists" such as the deranged fool who murdered over 20 people in a mosque some years back. But you cannot call yourself a democracy if you have a death penalty for Arab terrorists but not for Jewish terrorists. And -- of course you all realize -- the hangman will be the busiest person in all of Israel. If that's what you think the modern State of Israel should be like ..... reminds me a little of the Islamic Republic of Iran -- not sure that is what I want people to think of when they think of Israel. There is -- as my husband points out -- a strong likelihood that it would take only one or two executions for Arabs to realize we mean business, and then terror will end. They don't mind dying for their cause, but only if they can do it on their terms (i.e., a really big bang that takes out lots of innocent civilians). Getting caught attempting to commit a terrorist act, and hanging for it despite having been thwarted will have absolutely no appeal to the well-indoctrinated wannabe shaheed.
50. #35 Sarah you sweetie
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (03.16.09)
You're so into the laws, don't you think that criminals who have been convicted of their crimes of murder should complete their legal sentences (like, staying in prison for the rest of their natural lives) and not be turned loose to kill again?
51. Revenge in reverse
DaveS ,   New York, USA   (03.16.09)
And what if Palestinians or Lebanese who have lost relatives in recent wars discover the identities of the IDF soldiers responsible, and track down them and their families? The impulse for revenge must be universal, but it is hardly a great idea to give in to it.
52. aside from sending the terrorists to meet Allah
Dov ,   Kiryat Arba   (03.16.09)
They also need to legally pursue every cabinet member who votes to free the terrorists. Under ever cabinet members shirt if they investigate hard enough, can be found many criminal activities. Olmert has 3 indictments waiting for him if not more, Hanegbi has a criminal file, the convicted sex offender Ramon has more dirt to be dug up, I wonder what dirty secrets are in Livni's bag? None of them are clean , may Hashem use this crime of releasing murderers to close His file on these criminals who hide in the Cabinet and Knesset!
53. We went after the concentration camp guards
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (03.16.09)
and others just after the war and continued to trace them (in some cases, "assassinate")) from then until now. From a psychological perspective, we retrieve our power when we become active agents, especially when the cause is just. Right now, Israelis feel like passive non-entities without standing as our government frees these bloodthirsty creatures who proceed to mock and humiliate us. I am pleased for all of us that some Israelis are beginning to make a stand. This will add to our feelings of psychological control, self-respect and relief . Thank you.
54. TO DONATE:
LEE ,   NY, USA   (03.16.09)
You can probably find out how to get in touch with Mr. Meir Schijveschuurder and donate to his organization by contacting One Family Fund. Here is the link to their site: http://www.onefamilyfund.org/
55. GOOD and about time! Whats with the 1000 terrorists
Jae ,   Lynn US   (03.16.09)
for one Jewish soldier? Thats NUASEATING. 1000 terrorists killed wounded and harmed 1000's of people. They are released and guess what? They have a 75% recidivism rate, rejoining the terror ranks. Israels lefty government- you are too stupid for words.
56. A Word to YNET
lynne ,   USA   (03.16.09)
I don't believe that the people who are vowing revenge will follow through. I believe that this is an expression of grief and that they will come to their senses and allow the freed prisoners to live in peace. YNET is extremely irresponsible to print this article. It is detrimental and could spark more thoughts of revenge.
57. To: Ami'hai at No. 46
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (03.16.09)
You know full well that the Purim story occurred after the destruction of the First Temple and before the Second Temple, when we were "strangers in a strange land." We did not have our Jewish state then, and different rules applied. When we went after wanted concentration camp guards because no one else would, that was between 1945 and 1947, when we didn't have a state. We have our Jewish state now, though. With laws, which must be obeyed. If the State of Israel wishes to quietly go after terrorism by way of "payback" or to make sure they never ply their trade again, that that is a decision of the State of Israel to make, much like the late Golda Meir, z.l., did following the massacre of Israeli athletes and coaches at Munich. But that is an act of the State, not of its individuals. Every country has such a service. Every country uses it now and again. Again, the key here is that it is the act of the arm of the State charged with such a duty. It is not the job of the individual to exercise acts which he has no right to commit. Again, Ami'hai, lest this key point be lost: At the time of Haman, we did not have our own State. At the time of the assassinations of Nazi concentration camp guards, we did not have our own State. But we do now. And that makes all the difference.
58. Sarah, you have no knowledge of Jihadists
Doron ,   Israel   (03.16.09)
An execution is the best thing that can happen to a captured Jihadist, as he becomes martyred and receives a guaranteed ticket to the highest level of paradise, a place that is told to be better than if you were given the entire world and everything in it. On the other hand, a Jihadist dreads a lifetime in prison, which will strip him from martyrship and he would have to await the Day of Judgement like regular Muslims to know his place in the afterlife.
59. #51 - DaveS, Who's to say they aren't?
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (03.16.09)
60. stupid shvitizers and ineffective govt.
bob ,   potomac usa   (03.16.09)
the whole thing is an example of the govt's stupid policy of letting these murderers live in the first place. If there were an adequate criminal sanction imposed, private citizens wouldn't be clamoring and shvitizing about how they will take revenge. Taking revenge often results in the killing of the wrong person and is a symptom of anarchy. Thereason why we have the crminal sanction in the first place is to keep stupid ass revenge takers from loosening themselves on society.
