31. Turkey is a very sad place these days.
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (03.08.10)
32. Everybody would gain from Israeli assistance to Turkey
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (03.08.10)
Turkey would get much-needed expert rescue teams, saving Turkish lives. Israel would get a good image in Turkey for a change, a few warm words from the Turkish government, and relations return to normal. A real shame that the Turks turned down the offer. Even if they didn't really need this help, it still could have had a major symbolic meaning.

TURKEY   (03.09.10)
I do not wish a natural disaster on anyone, however to refuse aid under these circumstances ?? Its time to tell the Turks where to go and Israel needs to stop grovelling. enough already !!
39. on one had it is nice of IL to offer
jerusalem   (03.09.10)
though on another, look in your back yard. if IL is looking for a better rep, than fix your own problems instead of pretending (which btw, isnt working) that they dont exist.

Iranian Jew ,   LA   (03.09.10)
You always manage to miss the real point of the comment. Who cares what city it the earthquake was in?The help was offered. Pay attention to the comments and try to learn something form it. No wonder why we need mullahs to run our country!! Our won people are more ignorant than they are .
41. Turkey needs nothing from Israel
Cevik ,   Turkey   (03.09.10)
Turkey does not need any help from Israel. It is Israel who must sort its own affairs and learn to live in peace with its neighbors and treat the Palestinians humanely. Until this day, Turkey will have nothing to do with Israel.
42. #3 No Hasan, you need Europe, otherwise you will become Iraq
Doron Katz ,   Sydney Australia   (03.09.10)
Sorry mate, Turkey is moving towards Iraq-quality of life. Turkey will never be European, or in the EU. And G-D will continue to ravish Turkey with earthquakes that I pray continue for decades to come.
43. #11 - Shareef - Relax, she doesn't work for govt
William ,   Israel   (03.09.10)
Don't let your Arab emotions over-ride what little available logic you have. This person's comment is not indicative of all Israelis, even though in reverse, I've heard nasty curses from Arabs on Israelis from many, many people. You shouldn't be proud of your own brethren. Per my post #6 - Israel's goal is to save lives because we can, which is why we accept freely Iraqis, Jordanians, Gazans, etc who need life-saving, complex surgery. Some of those procedures are even funded by Jewish donors, resulting in zero cost to the families. When was the last time your community raised funds to help a non-Muslim, let alone a Jews, just because they were a human being in need? As you can see - Haitians accepted Israel's "selfish" assistance and many live today as a result.
44. #10 - Thank you for the detailed info
William ,   Israel   (03.09.10)
It's sad to hear that some did lose their lives in this recent quake but I am glad that it was not as large as those Turkey experienced in years past. Thanks for augmenting this article with news from Turkish media.

J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (03.09.10)
Israel could hardly wait that the water contract with Turkey will end,so Israel can start to desalinate it's water needs without favors from you,yes it is true turkey doesn't need tourists from Israel, but when the European infidels will realize that Turkey joined the axis of evil,Iran,Syria North Korea, will they continue to feed you ?, buy your products ? the new tourists who will replace the Europeans are great admirers of Bizantin culture and architecture if it will not be destroyed by erdogan as christian relics.

iran had an earthquake in the 90's. a big one!!!!!!
47. muslum leader thinks muslums should die rather than accept
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.09.10)
Jewish help. The children trapped in collapsed buildings didn't get to vote on that did they? I was in an earthquake in Turkey and two in California. The people who want to live through that have NO concern for the politics of the dingbats running the country.
48. Help Chile instead
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (03.09.10)
I didn't want to help them anyway. All they do is trash us now-a-days. We should help Chile.
49. #3 No Israel does not need Turkey
Menachem ,   Israel   (03.09.10)
Soon Israel will become water-independent so keep your blood-stained Turkish water. Your "moral" preaching comes at least 1,5 million massacred Armenians to late, hypocrite!
50. May the Lord first help the erthquake area, then
someone ,   somewhere   (03.09.10)
...save the lovely people of Turkey from any evil ideology, and bigot leaders.
51. to #3 what water? you don't sell water to Israel
ghostq   (03.09.10)
the San benedeto Italian brand and the lokal mineral water r more common, the Turkish mineral water didn't reach the Israeli market at all.
52. Turkey is becoming an Islamic state.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (03.09.10)
Israelis should be aware that the Turkish alliance with Israel is not iron-clad. Its revival in the 1990’s, after decades of cold shoulder relations, was prompted by a rare convergence of strategic and economic interests, that were bolstered by the generous assistance that Israel poured on the most hard-hit areas of Turkey during the 1999 earthquake. But Turkey is a Muslim country, in spite of its commitment to maintain secular rule. No one could foresee the rise to power of Necmettin Erbakan precisely in those years of the summit in the honeymoon, but no one could forget either, that the army swiftly removed him and banned his party when he imprudently came too close to Iran. The army, who remained the arbiter of the correct behavior of the government, could by the same token threaten Syria with invasion and war if the latter did not desist from its support to Kurdish Turks. 53. hate to say it but this isn't good the earth quaks
ghostq   (03.09.10)
r becomming more and more frequent it can hit Israel anytime, even the earth shifted a lil by some scientists opinion all this pride Turkish ego game will be worth nothing when people die, Turkey needs to put aside her pride and let Israel help otherwise people will die, Israel helped Turkey before with earth quakes, the only reason Turkey allow herself to refuse is because that area isn't neciserly habitat by Turks, maybe Kurds or other minority and they don't count in that country, the houses were made out of mud, thos villages r poor and really need help.
54. #3- I live in Israel and I AGREE WITH YOU!
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (03.09.10)
Why does YOUR country even want a relationship with our country? Why does YOUR country even keep an ambassador here in Israel or allow Israelis to even visit YOUR country or allow Turks to visit my country? We no longer need your water or want your water. We don't buy it anmore from you. I say - let's break off relationships between our two countries. We don't need you, and you don't need us.
55. #41 Cevik
Hal ,   Usa   (03.09.10)
You Cevik are classic punk! First you say, Turkey doesn't need help from Israel and Israel needs to sort it's own affairs. Fair enough, then you proceed to stick your nose into Israel's affairs and tell them to "treat Palestinians humanely". Aren't you guys the ones that can't take any kind of comments about Armenians and Kurds? Foolish retard, take a hint and mind your own damn business. We get the point. With Erdogan and your petty atitudes, you don't want Israel involved with your country, and that's ok, but cut the fake morality about people you historically never gave a shit about!
56. #14 ridiculous, is it?
Lisa   (03.09.10)
you mean to say Turkey cannot handle this? How many more earthquake does it need until they can organize their own rescue teams? This is a minor quake- compared to many others. besides- they refuse help- so they must think they can do it by themselves- why would you want to FORCE yourself on a country that is too proud, self-sufficient, stubborn to accept help? Think about it. Can you read irony?
57. #3 dont count on it
Lisa   (03.09.10)
this is where you could be very wrong- don't count on European tourists too much. They go where they get good value- but also safety. You guys are treading a fine line now. Turkey used to be a free and non religious country, at least on the outside, now all I see is women with cove, for starters- not good. So before you cut all your ties with the only free and democratic country in the Middle East and associate yourself with the radical muslim dicatorships- THINK! You are on the edge for Europe and the Europeans- make sure you don't fall off.
58. No. 57 Lisa
NYC Girl   (03.09.10)
Your comments are right on target. And it will also be interesting to see how long this "flood" of European tourists keeps up as Turkey becomes more and more Islamic. Also, once they impose the inevitable ban on drinking alcohol, it would be surprising if the Europeans don't find themselves alternate destinations.
59. # 2
C&C   (03.09.10)
Mr. Hakan, so far no "turkish" water has- so far- arrived in Israel and I'm sure there are other countries willing to sell water to us. We are also capable to desalinate see water -preferred by all Israelis Your country tries to pay us with water for goods bought by you.
60. Israel offering to help?! Oogh!
Ahmet ,   Ankara   (03.09.10)
Who needs your team of 8 or 9 with a paralyzed dog that can't even fart on his own?! You think you are dealing with Somalia offering to help and make a big fuss out of it?!! You are dealing with Turkey here, remember that Israel!!
