31. Say "goodbye" to Jerusalem Arabs but not an inch of our land
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.16.10)
Stop supporting Jerusalem Arabs. Yes. Give away so much as an inch of our land. NEVER!
32. Racist report
Joshua ,   Tel Aviv   (04.16.10)
how can you allow such an absurd racist report to be published on your site, this isn't arutzsheva
33. Un annex East Jerusalem
Larry ,   Vancouver, canada   (04.16.10)
If for no other reason I can only imagine that outrage from the 250,000 or so Arabs who would lose their status, benefits and the privilege of living in a democracy. I am sure the world would be outraged, Goldstone would write another report and be banned from his Grandson's wedding, and the Arab world would call for a jihad.
34. #8 and 27
Shlomi ,   Jerusalem   (04.16.10)
I work in the Jerusalem local government and what you read in 8 and 27 is accurate. Haq we applied the standards on the east as the west side, the capital would be united and the arabs would favor the status quo with a creative solution to citizenship. Any way divovding the city is impossible, keeping it united as it is today is unsustainable. May the best way is to hire the best urban planners to give us options as such
35. Amen, brother!
Brad ,   USA   (04.16.10)
36. Indeed,time for Jerusalems arabs to leave for Jordan
Trumpeldor ,   eurabia   (04.16.10)
37. Perfect solution!
MS ,   New York, USA   (04.16.10)
Finally someone makes sense! Now if only Bibi can stand up to the U.S.
38. Guy, you're falling into Obama's trap
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (04.16.10)
39. Like a fish ready to take the bait
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (04.16.10)
Obama is pressuring. He's changing the game. He's daring Israel to do something in reaction. Israel just needs to bite the hook, to take the bait - and then Obama will reel Israel in like a fish into the net. Guy Bechor's response is EXACTLY the kind of reaction Obama is looking for - anything to end the stalemate and to provide an excuse for Obama to impose his (final) solution for Israel. We must live up to our reputation as being a "stubborn people" and stand firm. We must not bat an eyelash in reaction to those who have evil intentions towards Jews and Jerusalem.
40. Who does Guy Bechor think he is?
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.16.10)
Abdullah the King of Jordan?
41. East Jerusalem Arabs would feel liberated
Ali ,   Washington, DC   (04.16.10)
when that glorious day comes and we don't deal with the zionist, racist state.
42. I am really thankful to Yehudit Keshet for having the same
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (04.16.10)
feelings as I do that Jews do not deserve a homeland, not even a tiny one. This is Jewish destiny and I want to keep it this way, no matter what Jews want and deserve or how right they are. To Arabs on the other I would give extensive territorial possessions, my home and homeland too.
43. With my yellow journalistic background I am upset
Michael Hess aka BS ,   Charlotte, NC   (04.16.10)
that my lifelong agenda of keeping Jews in a status of pariah is endangered by this article. Since when do Jews have a right to their own capital? Arabs have the right to 22 capitals and a humongous empire, but Jews? Unheard of.
44. Thanks Eitan #28 for exposing Yehudit Keshet agenda
Ben Alofs ,   BANGOR, Gwynedd   (04.16.10)
45. Guy Bechor must love Lieberman
raph ,   herzliya   (04.16.10)
Bechor sees only the facts he wants to see in this article. 1. He doesn't mention that, even if Arab residents of East Jerusalem have the freedom of movement to Israel "with all the terroristic and criminal implications this entails", terrorist act from these are today inexistent. 2. It is absolutely untrue and unjustified to argue that ALL Arab residents of East Jerusalem refuse to be part of Israel...etc. Many actually prefer an Israeli authority over this territory given the power struggle and chaos that will come with Palestinian sovereignty. 3. Pushing Arab residents of East Jerusalem in deeper poverty and misery by cutting all welfare would only encourage criminality and terrorism. Guy Bechor comes up with the most simplistic and ridiculous ideas all the time. He sees himself as a scholar and an important personality. He doesn't have the intellectual ability to write a column on the website, and certainly not to teach in IDC Herzliya (where he was my teacher).
46. God bless you...
MMLK ,   Palestinian-Lebanse   (04.16.10)
and your sympathizers. I'm aware of that many Israelis and Jews support your thought, however, this is rare on the internet. // Palestinian & Lebanese in the most democratic region: Scandinavia (Sweden to be exactly)
47. When a Jew offers PA land he is "racist"?
what do they want? ,   ISRAEL   (04.16.10)
Clearly these people want Israel destroyed more than they want a Palestinian state.
48. #14 Kassam will not be fired from WB
RELAX ,   ISRAEL   (04.16.10)
like they are fired from Gaza, since the border with Jordan is in control of Israel, and there is no way to tunnel under it.
49. Stop supporting Arabs living in Jerusalem
EH ,   Norway   (04.16.10)
Guy Bechor is a wise guy, and should be listened to!
50. most of the articles
....... ,   .......   (04.16.10)
show confusion by the israili govermentr or academic or simple ordinary people ..what to do with the arabs in gaza or west bank or e jerusalem or even the israili arab ..i see confusion is evil do not know the right from the wrong there is no wisdom in any of these articled it is not twisted reality it is confused one it is the evil
51. East Jerusalem residents are not Israelis. Discrimination???
Jo2   (04.16.10)
and most also have Jordanian citizenship. Yes there is a big difference between West and East , but West is Israeli, east is full of non Israeli Arabs. Tell me why Israel should invest millions into East Jerusalem when they are not Israeli and East Jerusalem will be in any future Palestine as will their citizenship be. I would rather we invest in Israeli Arab areas. That they pay into the system? How much taxes? look at the figures please. Israel pays out a lot more in welfare and education, full medical services than it receives. I am there all the time and it is a different world with a very anti Israel mentality. So for those asking for spreading the money, do East Jerusalem residents have all the obligations that Israeli citizens do, and they do not want that either. They pride themselves on being future Palestine and are no friends of Israel for the most part. Why do you call it racism???? because of what? Does it make sense to invest a load of money in a population that does not want you anyway and is not citizens of your country. The better this is solved the better.
52. #27: Do the Welsh attack in pairs?
Eitan ,   Chicago   (04.16.10)
Counting the garbage heaps in UNESCO heritage sites (like Akko) is, sadly, another way of identifying Arab neighborhoods. Will the magnanimous Welsh allow the 800,000+ Jews ethnically cleansed or expelled from Arab states in the 1940s through today reclaim their property, in the interest of "evenhandedness?" Will you continue to harangue the Jews for trying to rebuild communities destroyed by pre-state Arab massacres, like in Hebron? What of the nearly unbearable hardship born by Jerusalem's majority-Jewish population caused by property confiscation and the jizya tax under the Ottoman Caliphate? Do you not understand that Jews have been trying to liberate their country for foreign occupation since the Romans destroyed the Hasmonean Kingdom, or that they've been here ever since? If you're confused, read "A History of Palestine, 634-1099" and "A History of Israel."
53. Perhaps Dr. Alofs could benefit the
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (04.16.10)
Readers by balancing his opinion substancially by including the point that before we "annexed" east Jerusalem and the Old City in 1967 that we, Jews, were not allowed into that side of the city nor were we allowed to pray at the Kotel in the Old City. Furthermore, our religious sites were not taken care of and, in many cases, purposefully damaged. Could that possibly be the reason that we "annexed" the eastern portion of Jerusalem? Could Dr. Alofs kindly provide us with a measure of his extreme medical wisdom and tell us how Jewish religious sites and access to them would be insured? One of the points of posting, after all, is to see the problem in its largest perspective much as he (Dr. Alofs) would complete a credible medical diagnosis. So, I await his excellent response.
54. Time to say goodbye!
Stephanie ,   Miami, FL   (04.16.10)
Excellent article. I agree 100% and MORE! I hope Israel follows this suggestion and tells Obama to stay out of their business. Israel MUST survive regardless of "world opinion." Who cares? They hate Israel anyway, so Israel has nothing to lose but self-respect by continuously trying to appease its enemies.
55. Begone sullen hostile Arabs
Maynard ,   Red River City, AK   (04.17.10)
I hear Syria is very nice this time of year. Farewell forever cousins.
56.  taxpayers but no recognition of their rights
naaaaa   (04.17.10)
this article is full of hatred, ignorance and racism... east jerusalem residents do pay taxes and a lot of taxes for no services returned from the municipality!! enough??
57. I have the BEST way of all!
ALA Kef Kefak   (04.17.10)
Round up ALL those who are anti-semitic, anti Israel and round them up. Transport them outside of Jerusalem. Clean the city up, put a fence around ALL of Jerusalem(because there is no East and West and North and South) and place it in the hands of the God fearing Haredim. ONE JERUSALEM FOREVER JEWISH! Heh? Isn't this good?
58. Kyle from South Park, at least he's not a cartoon...
Michael Hess ,   Charlotte, NC   (04.17.10)
...like you, who, as an anonymous wingnut, call yourself after Kyle on SouthPark the American TV show. No antisemitic overtones in that show, no. At least Becher at least uses his own name when he calls for Israel to commit a crime against humanity. Unlike cartoon cutouts who screech for more war and bloodshed from a safe distance. Funny that most of you don't even understand the implications of his screed.
59. Stephanie in Miami, make Aliyah...
Michael Hess ,   Charlotte, NC   (04.17.10)
...they hate us anyway so we can commit any old war crime we want. They hate us anyway, so we can commit any crime against humanity we want. They hate us anyway, so we can kill whoever we want. They hate us anyway, so we can say and write whatever we want. They hate us anyway.
60. Michael Hess @ 23, I find your post contradictory.
leo ,   usa   (04.17.10)
You begin it stating that "Jews, Palestinians, Syrians share DNA" (never mind Palestinians and Syrians not being races) and then you accuse other poster who is Jewish as being racist. So, which is it? BTW, why do you call this person racist? Do you even understand the nature of the relationship between Israelis and Palestinians? And lastly, it is very big question who is and who is not part of indigenous population in the land of Jews.
