31. Reality is, J'lem divided and not a real capital
Realist   (04.20.10)
The only 'capital' without embassies... The occupation of East J'lem has divided the city more than ever.
32. Idiot
Sherman ,   USA   (04.20.10)
This guy is an idiot. What idiot would name him foreign minister? He has no personality and no diplomatic experience and this is why Israel is taking a beating on the world stage. I would highly suggest that the Israeli government get rid of this heartless fool.
33. "Peace cannot be enforced, it must be built"
(04.20.10)
I get a feeling it will be built without Lieberman.
34. Reply to Michael, #8
Paul ,   USA   (04.20.10)
" he's looked at like a clown the world over ". My, Michael - you do seem to speak for a lot people. And I'd be careful about calling people racist thugs, while mentioning Obama in the same sentence. Remember the good pastor Wright ?
35. Peace can only be built on resounding Israeli victory.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.20.10)
Lieberman is correct that peace can only be built. Not forced. Peace in Europe and Asia was built through resounding victory of the Allies over the Germans and Japanese. With no concessions. Similarly, peace in our area can only be built on resounding Israeli victory over "Palestinians" with no concessions.
36. Hess-You a bit of an odd ball yourself.Read my post properly
Alan ,   SA   (04.20.10)
37. Want to read a joke?
Funny   (04.20.10)
"In the last year alone, the current government, which is center-right, has made many significant gestures and confidence-building measures towards the Palestinians."
38. WW3 will happen before division of Jerusalem.
Faruq ,   Ireland   (04.20.10)
Ron B is right, the idea of arabs (like my family) having an interest in the temple mount is a modern invention. There has never been a palestinian state, the ''palestinians'' are arabs (like me) most of whom illegally moved to the Land of Israel in the 19th century. This is historical fact. There will never be a sustained palestinian state, it will never be sovereign, it will have no capital, you cannot invent something like this.
39.  Jerusalem
Paul ,   exeter USA   (04.20.10)
well Jews don t forget the dome is not theirs but the arabs so remeber God allow that Dome biult 1500 years ago and still there , must share with your neigbor. repect all people. should try make some deal if not there will be major war III
40. Paul, yes, I know Jeremiah Wright is no racist...
Michael Hess ,   Charlotte, NC   (04.20.10)
...and that racist wingnuts have attempted to take words from varied sermons and cherry pick over twenty years to try and discredit President Obama. It didn't work. Sorry buddy. President Obama will be here until 2016 and he will ensure a full and fair peace deal for the Palestinians, the Syrian, and the Lebanese because a durable agreement means a regional agreement. Israel will be dragged kicking and screaming because it is simply too out of control and intransigent to manage to make peace on it's own. One thing is self-evident, time's up.
41. in Lieberman we trust!
tal ,   tveria, israel   (04.20.10)
42. "J'lem not negotiable" one of "many significant gestures"?
Yoav   (04.20.10)
Lieberman badly contradicts himself. Judging by the empty words about the many past year' gestures, ""J'lem not negotiable" is just another smoke screen. Liberman is the perfect FM to open the doors for an imposed solution.
43. americans, dont interfere in the israeli politics
(04.20.10)
we DONT like it.
44. Facts; Israel/US relations -- history's
Joe   (04.20.10)
Pres. Harry Truman was the very first to recognise the the Provisional State of Israel on May 14, 1948 ; done over strenuous objections from the State Dept. (nothing changed), who did not want to interrupt the flow of Oil (what else). They did not want to "offend" the arabs for the " sake of a few Jews ". James Forrestal, then Secretary of State, warned that the recognition would be in vain, as the arabs would push the " Jews into the sea " ( now you know the origin of these few words). As the third world took command of the UN, it lined up against Israel, and the disdain toward this "body" by Jerusalem intensified in 67'. In 1975, Idi Amin, the thug of Uganda (it's Pres.) in a speech at this UN, called for the expulsion of Israel and it's extinction as a State. Applause, standing ovation by the third world ambassadors (same type today). In Nov. 75', the UN passed a resolution (koran's mouth piece), stating that ' Zionism is racism'. They had picked the perfect Secretary General at the time, a character by the name of Kurt Waldheim, one of the infamous war criminal, who also condemned (very popular word) the dramatic rescue of the Air France Jewish passengers at Entebbe airport by Bibi netanyahu's brother's commando.(alas, they just refused to die). The UN, rotten to the core, anti-semitism at his best. Any changes in the horizon ??
45. ליברמן, חזק ואמץ!
(04.20.10)
אתה תיהיה ראש המדינה ותביא לפה סדר, היגיון ותעוזה. וחשוב מכל, תפיסק את התלות הבלתי נסבלת באמריקה
46. Hess-"the farthest mosque"is the Regents Park Mosque in Lond
(04.20.10)
47. E'Jeru arads
yehoshau ,   usa   (04.20.10)
I don't think the Arabs of E"jeru want to join a Taliban state which is what would be created. Just think, there is not one true free arab country in the entire ME. Gaza was a test at self government and that turned out to be another taliban controled state. Be carefull what you wish for.
48. How can one impose peace?! It is a contradictory statement
Michael   (04.20.10)
49. LIEBERMAN=JERUSALEM!
les ,   canada   (04.20.10)
you are the man AVIGDOR! it must be crystal clear to ALL; JERUSALEM is NOT on the table, P E R I O D! TO HAVE ACCESS TO ALL RELIGIOUS SITES, YES. TO HAVE hisbullah and hamas flags over jerusalem..... N O !!!
50. #8 How is the Foreign Minister a racist? because
Michael   (04.20.10)
is it because he refuses to tell his people to accept ridiculous ideas that endanger the lives of his citizens? Ideas that are portrayed as altruistic and good natured answers to the problem.
51. Lieberman: "any attempt to impose peace will fail"
What's worse   (04.20.10)
An imposed peace is still worth trying since it can't be any wose than the right-wing government's current policy of "any attempt to negotiate peace will be foiled".
52. #48: As a starter it is enough to impose the borders
Eden   (04.20.10)
I agree, peace can't be imposed but the pre-conditions that can help lead to it can be enforced.
53. well said
אילנה   (04.20.10)
all true
54. #40, Michael...
Paul ,   USA   (04.20.10)
You are engaging in wishful thinking - there is going to be a democratic bloodbath at the polls, starting in November. You do not have to have a degree in political science to see what's coming down the road for the dems ( for the record, I am an independent, and no great lover of the republicans, either ). Also, Bill O'Rielly extensively covered Wright. He does not do hatchet jobs on stories. Wright is an anti American bigot. And don't forget the Presidents other friend - the left wing terrorist Bill Ayers, of the weather underground. These are some of the good folks that the President Obama is associated with.
55. #49 LIEBERMAN=JERUSALEM: Didn't know Lieberman is half Arab
Equation   (04.20.10)
I thought he is half Russian.
56. # 52
Birdi ,   Israel   (04.20.10)
Nothing can be enforced. Not now & not ever.
57. Even a night club bouncer _from Moldova demand, Amazing??
Palestinian   (04.20.10)
58. Israel needs to make peace and divide Jerusalem
Michael Hess aka BS ,   Charlotte, NC   (04.21.10)
It would be a fine gesture of peace if Israel was to relent with its racist policies and withdraw to the green line and cede east Jerusalem to the Palestinians. A nice financial sum would also be nice to compensate for the misunderstanding about not sharing.
59. #4 that worked well with Lebanon right?
Golan ,   modiin   (04.21.10)
let history repeat itself. Even in Gaza it is a joke.
60. #43 so what AIBAC do ?
avi   (04.21.10)
