31. Flying themm home at Israel's expense is the only option
Chris Linthwaite   (05.27.10)
The idea that Israel can gain anything by imprisoning and deporting members of Parliament from all over EUrope is misguided to say the least. It will be interesting if the demonstraters will agree to this, or whether they will elect to go through a formal deportation process and appeal all the way. Israel is making a mistake in giving them the option.
32. Israel is a state of pirates
Ameen ,   Palestine   (05.27.10)
Israel always claims that they left Gaza and based on that the Palestinians has no justification for any resistance from Gaza , if so, Gaza has the rights based on the international law to have an open sea and open borders to receive goods and if Israel wants to prevent this, then it still an occupation authority and it’s responsible for the life of the people under its occupation.
33. Give them the same treatment as Gilad Shalit
Leah ,   Israel   (05.27.10)
Solitary confinement, no red cross visits or family visits until Gilad is released!
34. Allah's flotilla or the Devil's sea voyage.
joe   (05.27.10)
All expenses paid ??, Our Govt is NUTS --- an under statement. We should take them to the Dead Sea resorts, or visit the Eilat famed aquarium; then to Tel-Aviv. A trip of a lifetime. Once more, NUTS !
35. No Matty-all goods will be trucked into Gaza-no need4ships i

36. Id like to see some Israel Flags in that Reception Unit plz

37. #1 why doesn't Israel do the same thing
observer   (05.27.10)
why doesn't Israel do without the Mediterranean & Red sea, and has it goods' portal through Syria, Jordan & Lebanon? after all Israel IS in the Gaza sea because of alleged Egyptian 67 blockade Egypt's sovereign water. Egypt, which had a mutual defense pact with Syria, asked the United Nations to remove the Emergency Force from the border with Israel. U Thant, the Secretary General, had to comply with the request because the force was stationed on Egyptian sovereign territory. But he also decided, on his own hook, to remove the Emergency Force from Sharm-el-Sheikh, which the Egyptians did not request. Once the fig leaf of the United Nations Emergency Force was removed from Sharm-el-Sheikh, Nasser had to close the Strait of Tiran to Israeli shipping for domestic political reasons. Imagine what would happen today if an Iranian vessel sailed down the Saint Lawrence seaway into the Great Lakes and the United States government did nothing to stop and search it. In 67 Israel perfidiously attacked without declaring the war.
38. If I'm buying their tickets
R ,   Israel   (05.27.10)
I prefer to send them back by rubber raft.
39. #32 Ameen - At least Israel is a state.
Joey Rose ,   Portland   (05.27.10)
Unlike the word you typed in next to your name.
40. Why Stopping them???
Anonymous ,   TX, USA   (05.27.10)
Why stopping them If it is for safety concern as the IDF is saying...that's easy fix. All Israel need to do is to Intercept the ships, search them thoroughly, check passenger's ID's, and if everything clears...let them continue in their peaceful endeavour. Claims that IDF is letting all necessary goods flow into Gaza is false. A lot of NGO and international correspondents are reporting acute shortages in a wide range of items, from crucial medical supplies to mundane items like school notebooks, pen and pencils for schoolchildren. I beleive that stopping the Flotilla has nothing to do with Security reasons, it is just a show from Israel that We are the Masters, and we want to manipulate the livelihood of the millions of Gazans at our whim...and no onw should have a say to what happen to them. Stopping the Flottilla from reaching its port would be another example of Israel's mass-punishement. The world is watching, and this will not win Israel any friends.

You seem to have very conveniently forgotten eight years of daily missile barrages. You, sir, are no expert in international law. Why don't you leave the pronouncements on legality to those of us who are qualified to render such pronouncements (that would be me, actually), and you just go crawl off into your nasty little hole. As salaam aleikum, @$$hole. You're just not smart enought to deal with us. Oh ... by the way ... Gaza has no rights. It is ruled and governed by an organization that is universally recognized to be a terrorist organization. OOPS!!!! Try again.
42. To: No. 32
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.27.10)
Excuse me. Did you say "pirates?" I guess it's better than terrorists, which is all that the Palestinians can rightfully claim. Enjoy. You people are nothing more than monsters and thieves. You are squatters in a land which you lost (hello -- six wars? sixty-two plus years of terror?) Get out of our lives. We hate you. You are also no match for us militarily. Haven't you figured it out yet? Go away. Go plague someone else. You are not going to have OUR LAND.
43. Send them home on worst flight imaginable
William ,   Israel   (05.27.10)
If I the Israeli taxpayer must pay the bill for the illegal acts of another, I demand the best return on my investment. Instead of an El Al flight, send them home via a real crappy airline and atleast 2 connections - Czech airlines or a small Russian transport traveling through Eastern Siberia. Of course, giving the lawbreakers anything less than a first class ticket on a direct flight would be considered a war crime by Leftists everywhere. If it were up to me, I'd pocket the cash and just shoot them out of a cannon, in the general direction of Cyprus.
44. #40 Anonymous
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (05.27.10)
As long as the Gazans find the muse to build an olympic size swimming pool, the situation seems not to be that bad.
45. To albreich
Anonymous ,   Tx, USA   (05.27.10)
Hitler also had some propaganda videos of people having fun in his death camps. Should we beleive those videos??? I don't think so. Let the intl community go in and see for themselves. Isaraelis obviouly hate gazans, as much as Hitler hated Jews. You cannot be trusted to do the right thing toward the civilians
46. #17 - Financial Times disputes your "collective punishment"
William ,   Israel   (05.27.10)
Clearly, there is no real humanitarian issue in Gaza - with so many items flooding Gazan markets that tunnel operators are complaining about the low prices. Pictures of food stalls over-flowing, and Hamas' desperate attempt to portray a falsehood that they need to hide under a tent with a candle for a photo op....which "palestinian" journalists uncovered as a lie. If there is a collective punishment here - it's by Hamas to civilians in both Gaza and Israel, solely because of their lust for power and racist ideology. Even the kids there suffer thanks to Hamas propaganda - another generational innocence lost...for the "resistance".
47. #20 - Ironic considering Turkey occupies Cyprus
William ,   Israel   (05.27.10)
48. #37 - Arabs attacked without declaring war 5 times!
William ,   Israel   (05.27.10)
Though, that doesn't seem to bother you. However, in 1967, both Syria and Egypt had spent months putting their armies on alert and moving men and artillery to the borders. Calls for annihilating Israel increased, and despite shuttle diplomacy by Israel to Western nations and the UN to get Egypt to stop, the situation continued. So what if Nasser did it for domestic political reasons and never meant to attack Israel. That's a far-reaching claim that has no basis in reality, especially since Nasser admitted on Arab TV that he intended to destroy Israel. Hell, they told their own people they were in Tel Aviv while their asses were getting kicked all over the Sinai. Long story short - Egypt and Syria made a lousy bet and lost big time. Better to do what Egypt and Jordan eventually did - end aggressions, make peace with Israel.
49. #32 - They had that chance in 2005, 2007
William ,   Israel   (05.27.10)
and like "Palestinians" do...they blew it. Israel did leave Gaza but per the Oslo Accords signed in 1994 by Arafat, Israel retains the right to air and sea around Gaza, and land borders until such time as Gaza will become a sovereign State. Once Hamas was voted in, and they cancelled all previous agreements, and stated their goal was to attack Israel, all bets were off. Now Gaza has no chance of sovereignty, and under Intl Law, still remains a disputed territory with an illegitimate govt since the PLO dissolved parliament. Intl Law which you cite ONLY extends to sovereign nations, not terrorist enclaves.
50. Wouldn't it be better to escort ships to Beirut?
William ,   Israel   (05.27.10)
Stop the ships at sea, and tow them up past Nahariya and tell them to deliver the goods to Harari.
51. Once again, acting against Israel is made cost-free
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (05.27.10)
The Palestinians have mastered this situation wherein they can act against Israel, promote its demonization and start wars against it. And when it's all done, the US and EU will gather for a donors conference to make them whole again. Israel will, of course, get nothing. So too here. They can act to "break" the naval quarantine, ignoring the fact that these "essential supplies" can be easily delivered via Egypt or Israel. Then when they're caught, Israel will take care of them and pay their flights home. And if they choose to fight their deportation, no doubt Israel will pay for their lawyers. What a bunch of chumps. Here's an alternative proposal. Send them all to Gaza. (They were headed there anyway.) Let them find their own way home. Hold the ships until their owners pay dockage fees. And if they choose to leave via Egypt, they'll see that Gazans live better than most Egyptians.
52. To William #48- get u r facts right- Israel attacked 4 of 5
Anonymous ,   Tx. USA   (05.27.10)
1948 Arabs 20,000 forces came to the rescue of Palestinians facing 40,000 Israeli forces. 1956 Israel attacked Egypt with France & uk for the canal. 1967 Israel attacked Egypt Syria & Jordan without provocation- Israeli officials later admitted that they concocted resons to attack as they saw Arab weakness and wanted to exploit it to expand Israel 1973 Egypt & Syria launched a war to recuperate the land Israel annexed and wouldn't return. 1982 israel launched a war on Lebanon. And occupied parts of it long after the Palestinians have left
53. Detain them ina tent-detention center next to Sderot
The Dude   (05.27.10)
Lets see how brave they are then? Literally put them in an open tent detention center. And keep them there. If missiles, rockets, or "fire crackers' as they call it fall, they can stay trapped and get the feeling. And if one accidentally hits....
54. To: No. 31
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.27.10)
Well, actually, Chris -- most Israelis -- an overwhelming majority of them -- do not wish to pick up the tab. May I take it that you, personally, or the U.K. will carry the cost? That's what I thought. Hypocrite! Your true colors are clearly on display. Thank you for that.
55. To: No. 52
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.27.10)
You MUST be on drugs. Five Arab nations -- 600,000 strong -- attacked the fledgling State of Israel in 1948. They lost. Awwww. Too bad. In 1956, Egypt closed the Straits of Tiran -- an international shipping lane and Israel's access to the sea -- under international law, that constitutes a declaration of war. In late May of 1967, Egypt again closed the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping. Again, a declaration of war under international law. Israel retaliated on June 5, 1967, and kicked some serious Egyptian ass. Jordan attacked Israel. Syria attacked Israel. Both countries were warned by Israel to stay out of the conflict, and both refused. Oooooh. Kicked some REALLY serious Arab ass there, didn't we? Yeah, we did. In 1973, on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, Egypt and Syria attacked Israel. Israel prevailed, and stood poised to march on Cairo and had Damascus in its gunsights. Awww. Poor widdle Arabs. In 1982, following years of Palestinian MASSACRES of Christian Lebanese (the Phalange), Israel finally came to their rescue. The rest of the world ignored them. Get your facts straight, Texas. This isn't amateur hour, and you are actually blogging with people who are so much more well-informed than you .....
56. Avast!
mr. pie ,   israel   (05.27.10)
Gaza is not a sovereign state and therefore have no international law rights. if they choose to become a sovereign state any rocket fired on Israel territory shall be an act of war according to international law choose your best option Ameen, and yarrr to you from the Israeli pirate Mr. Pie
57. To: The incredible hypocrite at No. 17
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.27.10)
So, tell me ..... What have you done for the Congolese lately? Five million dead in civil and tribal warfare, and climbing. What have you done for the Christians in Sudan lately? Forty thousand dead, and counting. What have you done for the Christians in Banda Ace? Indonesian Moslems have killed around fifteen thousand thus far .... and no one seems to care. You are a fraud and a phony. You cry for a bunch of terrorists and terrorist supporters .... and only -- and I do mean ONLY -- because you don't like Jews and will accept any cause as your own, as long as it acts against Jews and Israel. Humanitarian? Who, you? Oh, I don't think so. You're just common garden-variety Jew hater and ... you know what? We've seen you come .... and we've seen you go. As the great King Solomon said -- nothing new under the sun.

i would say that your anonymity belies your stupidity. You quote dates with no factual grounding for your claims.. it would be stupid to even refute your claims, so I won't... you must be some disaffected Arab in Texas that repeats the lies your Arab leaders have fed you...what are you, about 16 years old?
