When a journalist of her caliber and experience (50 years or more) says the Jews don't belong in the Middle East, the world should listen up. Check your history books, they DID come from Germany and Poland, and they did take over Palestinian lands and homes. If i say 1 million racist remarks weither truth or lies about Muslims none of you will disagree or question it. The Majority of Jews in Israel are not of European decent. The majority of Jews in Israel are actually of Mideast and African decent (i.e. from Islamic countries). While a Jew that moves to Germany, Poland, or anywhere in Europe might be able to prosper, where do you expect to send the majority of the population - they were actually expelled from their countries -from Afganistan, Iran, Seria, Lebanon, etc. If you kick them out of Israel, where do they go home to? To death? Any Jew who lands in any of those countries will be shot on the spot. Is that what you are calling for? At least say it as you mean it - sending Jews back to were they came from is sending the majority of them to death.

Indeed, check your history books Ben. You will find that preceding any immigration from Germany and Poland as a result of the Holocaust, there were many Jews living in Palestine. My own family go back many generations having resided in the Old City of Jerusalem as do many others. In fact ethnic cleansing was not only the preserve of the Nazis, but also Arabs in the decades before WWII. Look at Hebron in 1929. Time to face some facts Ben.

This claim that Israel--a nation state founded upon Zionism--is legitimated by the Bible is absolute nonsense. If that's the case, what's to stop the US from invading the area and claiming it for the Christians who Jesus left behind? The only thing that should matter is who lives there. The fact is that the Zionists displaced the Arab population to make room for themselves. The process continues to this day. While the original migrations after WWII are understandable because countries wouldn't allow Jews in (even the US), the entire process is not biblical--it's regrettable. There is no reason to exacerbate this conflict by continuing to force Palestinians out of the West Bank with blatant colonial schemes. What I don't understand is how Thomas's comments, while tinged with racism, are any more racist than Israel's settlement policy?
