It's people like you that Helen Thomas was referring to. The Jewish people who lived amoung us for centuries were Middle-Eastern. The occupiers are European. Spanish were more merciful 1492 than Israel 1948: they allowed the Jews who came with the arab invadors and were ready to "christinize" to stay and become normal Spanish subjects. And they let the rest to leave with their property - as one side of my ancestors did as they "moved" to Amsterdam, then Mainz. And today there is a lively and happy Jewish community in Spain...
