You have to be cautious when you mention payback. The entire nation of Turkey exists upon land stolen from the Greek Byzantine Empire, Istanbul itself only becoming Turkish in 1454. Millions of Christian Greeks and Armenians were killed in order to establish the Ottoman Empire of which you are so proud, and Turkey today continues to oppress Kurds, and to illegally occupy Northern Cyprus. In truth, Islam's expansion, from Arabia throughout the Middle East, was attained by force of arms and conquest, and millions of indigenous people were killed or oppressed. The existence of the State of Israel represents only the return of the indigenous inhabitants to sovereignty in their land. I bet the Kurds and the Cypriots (Turks only conquered Cyprus in the 1600's) wish they could do the same!

The PKK also are civilians but they are in the USA terrorist list along with hamas, When a terrorist takes a lethal weapon or object to attack someone else he/she is no longer a civilian. For example in Turkey there are hundreds of children (minors) in jail for throwing stone to the Turkish military forces. These are PKK supporters. Some as young as 13 years. The IHH members on that ship (according to the captain) smuggled disk cutters and started to cut the ship's deck two hours before the IDF came. IHH leaders are bragging about their glorious GAZA (war) in the Turkish media day in day out. And compare this with the other ships that surrender peacefully you will get the picture better. And also the peace activists from other countries are not raising their voices in support of the IHH in this matter. Could it be that they are ashamed to be related to the violent IHH? At least one supporter of the flotilla here in USA - CT thinks like that.

Since the Arabic guy was only a translator his translation might be a little bit off especially when you take from Turkish to Arabic then from Arabic to English. My translation is his exact words. But more importantly is the tone of his speech and the reaction from the audience as well as the images of the people in the audience. The entire speech sounds like a call for a war with a person coaching them to say "TEKBIR" when necessary. It is clear from that video that this group was not made of peace activists. They were agitators. The captain of the ship also confirmed this fact. What is even worse is that the Turkish government was aware of it and to avoid criticism the AKP parliamentarians who were scheduled to be in the ship canceled at the last minute and re registered the ship n Comor Islands. I believe that Israel should not negotiate the return of the Mavi Marmara to Turkey. Instead they should discuss the fate of the ship with the Comoran government.

Those fired upon by the IDF were not carrying olive branches. We've watched the Turkish jihadis stab soldiers, beat them with metal pipes, toss grenades at them and attempt to lynch them. You must come from a tough neighborhood in Turkey if you refer to these terrorists as civilians. The Palestinians fired over 8000 kassams and bombs at Israeli civilians and proceeded to fire 80 kassams per day ignoring all calls to stop before Israel attacked Gaza. The majority of those killed during the war were Hamas fighters who used civilians as human shields. The Palestinians learned the hard way that firing missiles and bombs at Israel will result in a fatal outcome.

In other contexts it is used to reffer to "One who chooses to suffer death rather than renounce religious principles", in this case, they would rather die to help the Palestinians than to let them continue to suffer. There are many teenagers in Turkey as young as 13 in Jails for throwing stones to the Turkish military forces. These children are PKK supporters and they are incarcerated for long sentences to which the AIHM (The European Court of Human Rights) is objecting for years. As you see even for Turkey young children throwing stones to the military forces is a crime. Stones can kill as much as guns. All other ships surrendered peacefully making a peaceful statement. The Turkish Ship and IHH made those peaceful protesters also look bad in the eyes of the free world.

This is in Christianity, not Islam. In Islam, I think that it is that the gates of Paradise are under the shadows of the swords. In the video, it is marketed like so that some of these other people had a chance at being a martyr and this is something to them. It's all in who your heros are.
