1. It will never fly!
Wise Saba ,   Netivot   (07.16.10)
Our arab neighbors will never allow it to happen.
2. The problem is Iran.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (07.16.10)
With the aid of Syria & Hezbollah, Iran will do it's best to build up Hamas militarily, furnishing advanced weapons & missiles, it will create another situation as in S. Lebanon. We can't depend on any outside force to stop weapons smuggling. Anyway, the whole Gaza fiasco is not based on facts - the whole thing is a propaganda effort against us. It doesn't matter what we do, the same charges will be made, there are always pretexts. Another weak point is that there is an international effort by appeasers & Leftists to legitimize Hamas. There is a similar effort to legitimize Hezbollah. We may find ourselves facing a replacement for the irrelevent Fatah & pressure to allow a Hamas-dominated Palestinian Authority, including obviously, the West Bank.
3. Neat
Jemma ,   USA   (07.16.10)
Israel will no longer have any responsibility to Gaza. Hamas and Fatah can fight each other/ Abbas and PA undermined.Further, we shall see how Europe does there- if it takes on the job. If Europe refuses , they the EU and rest of world can shut up. Egypt will be left holding its land border with Gaza. Let's see how well Gaza does. Abbas and Fatah will have a fit and be shown to be ineffectual.
4. It is about time
Shalom ,   Ashdod, Israel   (07.16.10)
Great idea. Let Hamas face these unexciting things such as to provide health care for its people, drinking water, electricity, monetary system etc in short all the items that any country provides its people and let us see how much help they will get from their Arab friends
5. A brilliant plan!
A ,   Belgium   (07.16.10)
Lieberman is a genius! He has found a cure for eradicating the cancer called gaza from Israel. Their own power, water, new homes and best of all, a hermetically sealed border. All financed and secured by Europe, AND that peaceful democracy, Turkey. Now lets see how long it takes the hypocritical European leaders to mumble and grumble their approval. Hopefully within a few years, all of gazastan will be rotting in hell.
6. One more item, Mr. Lieberman: Gilad
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (07.16.10)
Shalit must be part of the package of negotiations.
7. Lieberman
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (07.16.10)
However much I didn't vote Lieberman, I must recognize that he is much more suited to lead Israel than Bibi! Bibi's chose of Barak to be his mentor tells about his lack of political intelligence and guts. Likud should think about renovation!
8. Lieberman for Prime Minister!!!
Jew in Israel ,   Israel   (07.16.10)
9. to #6 - Robert
Ariel ,   Modi'in, Israel   (07.16.10)
CORRECTION!!! Gilad Shalit must the START of any negotiations. Without releasing Gilad the terrorists can all go to hell and rot there.... They will not fall for this plan because they know they that Palestinianism is based on a political plan and not a people...
10. I've Been Touting This Idea For Years
iObserver and News ,   USA   (07.16.10)
Gaza should remain Gaza: it's own independent Palestinian state, hermetically sealed from Israel and overseen by EU constituents. The WB will NEVER become a state: the PA is a failure and Judah and Sumaria are too valuable to Jewish heritage and established identity to allow it to be stolen and raped by Arabs from the peninsula. While the gazans will NOT except this, Israel must give it an honest shot, so if and when it fails and war breaks out, no one can complain when Israel annexes the strip and exiles it's 'inhabitants.'. It is a dangerous gamble but a worthy endeavor. The PA is DONE: expect Nothing but failure from them. Annex Judah and Sumeria and endure a decade of nonsense from the fanatic libs: small price to pay for our rightful land. Gaza isn't worth the effots and deaths of Jews any longer. Only if Hamas balks and continues their terrorism, can Israel show the world they gave it their all.
11. The EU, the US, Russia must all be involved in...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (07.16.10)
...ensuring the Gaza becomes once again part of an Egyptian ruled territory as it was designed in UN Security Council Resolution 242. Gaza is of course not a viable entity even under the best of circumstances, and the conditions there now or in the future will not be ideal. This situation will only breed more Islamism and terror on Israel's borders as well as the border of Egypt and can be the source of deep troubles in the entire region. Yet, as part of a lager Arab entity, Egypt, Arab Gaza can be incorporated into Egypt and with the assistance of the international community be developed alongside the Sinai, also part of Egypt, for the benefits of both the Gazans and Egyptians. The legal foundation for this approach is UN Security Council Resolution 242, as is, that was passed unanimously at the UN and was accepted by all relevant parties. Also, 242 has provided the basis to date for all peace talks and agreements between the the nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel, and its Muslim-Arab neighbors.
12. This Proposal Sounds Too Just
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (07.16.10)
To be coming out of Lieberman. Isn't he now supporting the same policy as the Arab MK that had her privelidges revoked and was called a traitor? I never dreamed that the freedom flotillas would be as successful as they seem to be. Even Lieberman is now shouting "Free Gaza"!
13. Hmm Great but don't forget....
Yaakov ,   Jerusalem, Israel4vr   (07.16.10)
Part of me likes this thought it means giving up our land for an indefinite period. We should not have left there and violence and war has increased since we did. (they view it as weakness...every nice gesture we do) not only on the gaza border but the exile of Jews from their towns and citiesin Gush KAtif (Gaza) emboldened Hezbullah and contributed to their start of the second Lebaon War in 2006. I thought of this as well....but then if we do this then the ocuppying Arabs of Judea and Samaria must join their brothers in Gaza. Also forgotten, is that regardless of any power play bewteen HAmas and Fatah/Abbas.. they both have a shared goal of destruction of Israel in any size. They have not ceased actions, traingin, incitement nor removed it from their charters.
14. Totally ridiculous
Frank ,   Canada   (07.16.10)
Gaza will become a more dangerous place and it will create more war as previous disengagements.
15. Consise Solution
Yaakov ,   Jerusalem, Israel4vr   (07.16.10)
So we contribute the land of Gaza (Israeli's southern coastal plain) and then Jordan must help with the rest in the land they occupy and take the occupying Arabs from Judea and Samaria. They can goto Gaza and Jordan. Probelm is though that Gaza will still arm itself and attack ISrael. Lieberman doesn't have a pragmatic plan against that. It is dangerous still to us. If only they valued human life and peace like we do. Teh long term challenge has been a sever case of ethnocentrism on our part (and the rest of western world). We project our values and persuits of life, liberty and free economy on other cualtures to which it is foreign and strange. We expect people who love life and families but just as the Arabs have said," We will win against the "Zionist Entity" because we love death as much as they love life"
16. No faith in Lieberman
Ashley ,   London UK   (07.16.10)
Anything he turns his hand to ends in disaster. The only disengagement Lieberman should focus on is his own from the government!
17. #12 - Liberman wants disengagement, Zoabi want to blame
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (07.16.10)
The big difference is that Liberman wants disengagement, Zoabi want to keep blaming Israel even if the blockade is removed.
18. #10,13 is YHWA The Great Robber?
observer   (07.16.10)
Deuteronomy 6: 10 And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land which He swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee--great and goodly cities, which thou didst not build, 11 and houses full of all good things, which thou didst not fill, and cisterns hewn out, which thou didst not hew, vineyards and olive-trees, which thou didst not plant, and thou shalt eat and be satisfied-- for the thieves, FOR ALL TIMES is the bible..
19. Why it won't succeed
Israel   (07.16.10)
This is too surprising to come from Lieberman- it seems like a false report. It is a brilliant idea but some Palestinians will take issue with it. Really they see all the land as belonging to them and sealing them off from the land on paper will not be acceptable. Sad because this could bring a more stable region and peace between us.
20. A brilliant plan...
Ram ,   London   (07.16.10)
should a set up that guarantees: 1. All ships to be inspected by a responsible body. 2. A foreign force to guard the border with Israel. 3. A time limit of say 3 years to cut off all supplies from Israel. Should in the meantime Israel notice a laxity from the foreign force, as happened in Lebanon, immediate action should be taken to cure the situation through an ultimatum to the UN. Lieberman is a smart Jew!
21. :: This ‘plan’ should and will be rejected
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (07.16.10)
Lieberman’s plans for Gaza, while positive, do not go far enough and should be rejected. Nobody will recognize Gaza as “an entirely independent entity” least of all the Palestinian People for the simple reason that Gaza is only one part of the greater Palestinian territories which are destined to become the future independent state of Palestine. Israel needs to ‘disengage’ entirely from Gaza, the WB and E Jerusalem. Nothing less should be accepted. If Israel can fully disengage from Gaza it can also fully disengage from the remaining occupied Palestinian land and recognize Gaza, the WB and E Jerusalem as the independent state of Palestine.
22. Very Sensible Proposal
Dan ,   Titusville, FL   (07.16.10)
These are tough economic times. We no longer have the wherewithal to supply electricity, fuel, water food or anything else to Gaza. Hamas wanted Gaza, they now should have it and have all the responsibility for governing and supporting the people therein. We have been supporting this area for too long allowing Hamas to concentrate on attacking Israel. However, we need to make it crystal clear to Hamas that ANY attack upon Israel will result in the complete destruction of Gaza. No amount of international pressure will stop us until Gaza is destroyed.
23. Good luck Mr. Lieberman :))
Salma ,   Palestine   (07.16.10)
Gaza will be the beginning of something very great, it will shake the region and the world, be patient !
24. Help Palestinians return home to Egypt=Peace
sam ,   USA   (07.16.10)
Genesis 10-13&14
25. Liberman
vitenberg ,   saint-mandé france   (07.16.10)
May be it's just a joke... If not, this man must return to the University and learn who call for help to the Romans...and what after. J.Vitenberg
26. There is a better way, without a hint of surrender
sam   (07.16.10)
"ONE OF the important truths ignored by Israel’s pathological media is that Hamas and its Iranian sponsor are not all powerful. They are vulnerable to criticism from their own publics. And Israel is capable of fomenting such criticism." Read more at: http://tinyurl.com/2bpotcr
27. #18 appears to be a skewed observer!
Ram ,   London   (07.16.10)
28. #18 Get real
Sidney ,   USA   (07.16.10)
Deuteronomy is fiction. It has now been established by archeology that the Israelites were Canaanites. The Jews are the aborigines of the land and they stole nothing from nobody.
29. #21, Matty Groves
David ,   USA, exile   (07.16.10)
FINALLY you have said something I agree with! Although for different reasons. I agree that this should and will be rejected. But, here's why: Scripture tells us what the borders of Eretz Israel are and always have been. Nothing short of these borders should even be discussed by Israel. Israel needs to turn their hearts back to the Eloheim of Avraham, Yit'xak, and Ya'acov and let Him deal with the world. They should stand proudly and fight and CHAZAK! It is not for the world, the arabs nor for the Israeli's to determine the borders that have already been established!
30. Give Gaza back to Egypt
Micha ,   Berlin   (07.16.10)
where it belongs to. Close your borders to Gaza just as your Arab neighbors closed theirs to your country. Lift any siege & blockade. Just stop caring about this piece of hell. You don't need Europe or anyone else to guard Gaza's exterior borders. Just give Gaza back to 100% egyptian control as it was before 1967. Egyptian secret police knows very well how to deal with islamists. Trust them. Stop this nightmare. Stop wasting your country's ressources and your soldiers' lives. The current situation is good for nobody. Give Gaza back to their arab brothers just as they wish ... and use your ressources for your own country. Good luck.
