As a point to all of us entitled Israelis, if we look at it through Palestinian eyes we are occupiers; we occupy the west Bank and East Jerusalem and we hold Gazans as prisoners. In order that we aspire for peace and tranquility we need to give back East Jerusalem, West Bank, solve the refugee issue in some way and get this conflict resolved. Until then we should expect no less than we are getting. I for one have served in the army and have been part of this, it is not sustainable, and we treat them like animals. So either we can get used to it and not cry when we get hurt or choose another way. A reminder to some talk-backers about self-sustenance, we control their water and we give them whatever we choose, we control the access and we allow in what we want. We control the borders and we decide who can leave, we do not allow them to import anything that allows them to be independent. Example, they can import cows for diary production, we allow them a little every now and then and then Tnuva fills the gap. Import of powdered milk is rationed and not enough, medicine are controlled, etc etc we are not doing this for security reasons but for economic reasons. Look at practices of Agrexco, the mobile phone companies, Tnuva, Teva, etc we hold their economy to our benefit, we dump their markets when we want, and starve them when we want. So how can they ever be dependent on anyone but us? Those who served in the Civil Administration and have a college degree know this first hand. Most of the world like to see Israelis as occupiers. In reality, 7 million Israelis hate the occupation. It is done only by 500.000 stupid Israelis. If Israelis really wanted to occupy Palestine they would have done that with 1 million Russians that arrived. But I have the feeling that 7 million Israelis just want to live their lives in Tel Aviv, Nethania, Eilat. THey pay the price for the incapacity of their government. On the other side, Palestinians are changing. At least in the West Bank. They now have rock shows, malls, modern cities being built. On both sides, the majority are normal and compassionate people. Extremists in both side - Gaza and the settlements - have to be contained to put an end to this horrible conflict.

I support Israel and Judaism but have been critical of many of their policies and lack of regard on many issues... I still feel that way but today I have to say after reading this brief article I think for these types of instances they need to react harshly. I believe in being fair, noble, honest and help your neighbor but this is above and beyond comprehension... I can understand how many Israelis must feel... With all due respect you do not really have 100% grasp of the situation. I do appreciate you trying though. BTW, there is an Olympic size swimming pool and major MALL opened in GAZA. In truth not even the "re-settlers" are occupiers as that is our land and has been for 4,000 years. The Arabs are the occupiers from all over the occupied Middle East..but with roots in the Arabian Peninsula. With all due respect, people like you, inside the green line and still attached to the idea of 4000 years are the main obstacles to peace. Forget about the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, Southern Syria. You will never have it back again. Just imagine if the Native indias in Brazil now start to claim back Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and so on. Israel has the right to live in the Green Line. Period. I don't know what part of the West Bank you visited, but there are no modern cities, no rock shows and no malls. There is, on the other hand, a crumbling infrastructure, rampant inflation and unemployment hovering perilously close to 40%. The Arab parts of the West Bank look like the worst favella in Brazil. The areas controlled by the Palestine Authority look exactly the way they did when Israel acquired Judea and Samaria in 1967. All of the improvements made by Israel have now disappeared into dust as a result of Palestinian greed and corruption and Palestinian inability to govern. The Palestinians will never change. They continue to cling stubbornly to the fantasy that Israel will somehow magically go away. Sixty-plus years of stark reality has not changed this fantasy. Israel has grown into an economic powerhouse, and the Palestinians are growing ever more primitive. Sad, but it is what it is.

According to a little thing called INTERNATIONAL LAW all land west of the Jordan River belongs to the Jews and cannot be given to another government or group. This is what the laws actually state. The Arabs have absolutely zero legal claims to any of the land. There have been 3 separate laws passed giving us our lands. I challenge you or anybody else in the entire world to provide a single international law that gives the Arabs any claim at all. It does not exist.
