There is a lot of tampered evidence and questionable conclusions from global warming theorists. The fact that, for example, many American cities have experienced record snowfalls is what has lead to global warming to be redefined in some audiences as "climate change". It's a load of bunk especially when you see research showing that the hole in the ozone layer is closing itself up naturally. Evolution is similarly against the Torah and against common sense. There have been many refutations of evolution by people who quote not Biblical sources but scientific ones. Seems to me like the Education Ministry is run by Labor/Meretz.

Avital is right, there is no scientifically proved connection between global warming and human activity/intervention. It has never been scientifically proven that climate change is the result of carbon-dioxide emissions. All that scientists have done is some computer modelling which allows them to factor in elements of their choice. However much global warming has happened before when human intervention did not or could not have made any contribution. Avital's dismissal is a traversty and an attempt to stifle free speech and free thought.

Evolution is one of the most strongly supported theories in science. There are literally tons of evidence for evolution. It's better understood than gravity. So why does Avital question evolution? Is it because it contradicts a 2,500 year old creation myth?

I think Judaism still believes in the 4th commandment, doesn't it? You know, the one about keeping the sabbath day holy. That commandment even gives the reason for itself. "For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." That means the literal reading of Genesis is required in order to have a literal reading of the 4th commandment, in Exodus. Wait, don't tell me, Judaism does not require a literal reading of the 10 commandments either. Look, if you choose to be a non-believer, just be one and admit it. I wanted to address the "environmentalists, and scholars" who called for Avital's dismissal. First, environmentalist, is a fancy word for loudmouth troublemaker, without a private sector job. And, if the "scholars" really were scholars, they would have been able to argue their points intelligently, and logically. And Kyle's pointer to Slifkin's "The Challenge of Creation" is noteworthy. Slifkin - aka the "Zoo Rabbi" - is both ultra-Orthodox and a naturalist, and his book is quite good.
