31. "starting to understand"? Europe is still in denial.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (10.07.10)
Slowly, says the writer, "you are starting to understand what you're dealing with here." Some are, but most remain in denial. What was first recognized by outsiders (Steyn, Bawer) and local conservatives (Phillips, Fallaci and Wilders) is only slowly starting to dawn on the mainstream (as evidenced by Caldwell's "Reflections on the Revolution in Europe"). Yet there are still some like Paul (#15) in London who insist "The most "alarmist" projections are 25% Muslim" by 2100. That figure will be reached far earlier in places like Belgium and Holland . It's what happens when half the births are Muslim. But let me introduce a phrase to folks like Paul: tipping point. At what point will non-Muslims decide "enough" and simply leave, accelerating the transformation? Malmo in Sweden is already over 25% and the Jews are leaving. At what point will folks in the UK, France, Germany or Italy decide "enough" and move to Australia, Canada or the US? Yes, a similar trend is occurring there, but it's not as bad - yet.
32. My 2 cents for Europe
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (10.07.10)
We are not going to save you. We will close the gates and let the barbarians have you as you did to us. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.
33. who is avi rath and why is he speaking for me
jason ,   israel   (10.07.10)
who is avi rath and why is he speaking for me? i do not understand why ynet (and this journalist) puts together such a childish missive seemingly on behalf of the people of israel. is he an officeholder? a diplomat? even then i would protest. but of course not, it is undignified and i for one did not authorize it. So if you feel like writing such a glib article next time, Mr. Rath, be sure to clearly sign off on your name and your name only.
34. People are allready leaving...
Chris ,   Norway   (10.07.10)
The duch people are moving to Norway, where they buy old farms and start a new life. There can be several reasons why people are leaving such as over population etc. but many people we hear about in the press are telling that they don't want their kids to grow up in a enviroment like we have in Europe now. Scaring! The duch people are so welcome to Norway. Hard working, nice people!
35. #17 Sarah B: Before you accuse me
Line Singer ,   Århus, Denmark   (10.07.10)
To your point no 9: Denmark WAS occupied by Germany during the war, we had 2 (concentration) camps BUT THERE WAS NO MASS SLAUGHTER OF JEWS IN DENMARK!!! In fact ordinary Danish civilians and the resistance movement organised a rescue of the Danish Jews. In effect 99% of the Danish Jews survived world war II. So PLEASE to both you and the author of this article/letter: We may all be European but we didn't all behave in the same way. From what I know the Bulgarian Jews were also rescued - obviously I don't know as much about that. I'm Danish not Bulgarian.
36. Bon Voyage
Yaron ,   USA   (10.07.10)
Could not agree more....the European denial is astonishing. The moe astonishinig thing though is the marriage of the Liberal Left and their Islamic Conquerers.....oh the strangest of bedfellows. Amazing what a few million successful Jews in the desert will do to people.
37. Bulls eye !
Jaacov Baumann   (10.07.10)
38. To: No. 28 and No. 22
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.07.10)
Rick Sanchez was a CNN host who was terminated for launching a diatribe against Jon Stewart and against Jews generally. Rick Sanchez would never say anything as well-informed and articulate as this op-ed piece. Sanchez lacks the requisite skill set.
39. Nice, but
Boaz ,   Jerusalem   (10.07.10)
Excluding the cinical tone of the whole article, it's a very nice one. But the author forgot to mention (maybe for some sort of propagandistic agenda) that some part of the new generation of European Muslims are totally integrated in the local culture and are even critical of radical Islam. But, out of fear, they keep silent.
40. weird historical inaccuracies
sarah ,   jerusalem   (10.07.10)
aren't we forgetting here that for centuries it was Muslim countries who sheltered Jews expelled by Christians? See Spain, Portugal, England etc etc etc... if you're going to make statements based on some notion of historical depth, at least find some facts first.
41. Uk looks like fallujah
(10.07.10)
42. #34 - but Oslo looks like downtown Mecca!
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (10.07.10)
Nice that you posted a positive post but Norway is threatned too. Europe's choice is really democracy or Islam and it gets not simpler than that! Michael
43. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME.....
SETTHERECORDSTRAIGHT   (10.07.10)
WHICH COUNTRY IN EUROPE DID NOT EXPELL JEWS?
44. #43

Denmark
45. lemme see if I get this
sleepless   (10.07.10)
Jews started out in Israel about 2000 years ago. They got kicked out and were spread out all over the world. They suffered 2000 years of pogroms, massacres, inquisitions and genocide and could never really freely practice their religion. They had to live in separate areas most of the time, shtetls or otherwise. They were blamed for almost everything (still are it seems). Nobody wanted them. Finally they were able to fulfill their dream of 2000 years and return home to Israel. It was out of racism, hatred, intolerance, jealousy, and anti-semitism that left Jews with nowhere to escape to. And now that we have a tiny haven - our homeland, we are called fascists, racists, intolerant and so on. Hypocritical. It could have been different.
46. # 14 - you are 100% wrong! It's a religious conflict!
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (10.08.10)
Why do you think Muslims (PA Hamas or whomever) refuse to say, "Two States for two peoples"? I purposely didn't say "Arabs". They will say, "Two States" however. Why do you think Bibi is insisting on the wording? Well you obviously don't know. Muslims, want one State for the Palestinians that will have no Jews and another State that will have Jews but a majority of Muslims after flooding Israel with displaced people. Musims want millions to 'return' whereas around 700,000 were displaced, but not by Israel - they left. I hope you now understand. It is only about religion!
47. East and West not the same.
Thomas ,   Dxieland USA   (10.08.10)
This post might be deleted or censored for being not PC for this forum but I make a try: The Islamisation occurring only in Western Europe because the "Multiculturalism" "Diversity" Marxist mantra runs the society, by which the destruction of Nation States is the goal. Israel, as Nation State by definition is anathema to the neo-Marxist doctrine. Eastern Europe has gotten rid of Marxism and there is no sympathetic social class in power to hasten the population replacement with 3rd. word immigrants, much less with Islamists. The better way is to use qualifier adjectives like Western and Eastern EU.
48. Number 40: True but....
John   (10.08.10)
Muslim countries also expelled or coerced Jews to leave their countries in 1948-1950s. And, while Jews and Muslims did in fact coexist - it was because Muslims were the rulers and had power over the Jews, including taxation for all non-Muslims.
49. #43, It was Bulgaria
Sonya ,   USA   (10.08.10)
From what I know, Bulgarians were the most friendly european people, who never betrayed their jewish citizens. Denmark was also one of just a few nations, who tried to help Jews. I will never forget this...
50. to #2
Arul   (10.08.10)
I think you have not read the article carefully. Here is what he says "You were our home for thousands of years, and especially for the past 1,000 years." Excellent piece. Europe, wake up at least now.
51. Article is 100% correct
Evan ,   Israel   (10.08.10)
52. Yes to the jews!
Ola ,   Oslo, Norway   (10.08.10)
There is an enormous tragedy for Europe that we have replaced Jews with Muslims! While Jews contributed greatly to build up Europe, muslims come to destroy the continent. The future contains frightening perspectives. My hope is that Europe must awake from sleep before it's too late and ally with Israel on all levels, and putting a final end to Islam.
53. true words by avi!
can can ,   the EU   (10.08.10)
Just adding one or two things to hatred, martyrs and intolerance, namely violence, inbreeding and this sucking of honor and shame. Strolling certain neighbourhoods all over the EU, you just might get a glance and look at the real costs. Getting to know a few former muslims works, too, they have a clear stance on Islam, generally spoken. The islamization train is not going to stop apparently, the show has begun years ago, get the pop corn folks, it's quite amusing in a distorted, twisted way.
54. TO @ 14
~~Lengualima~~ ,   USAGBFR   (10.08.10)
In your words clearly show what the true intentions of the criminals who use as an argument for peace and religion to achieve their bloody goals. Do not laugh too hard because it can turn into tears sooner than you expect. Your bloody religion "listen to it well." Never, never, be able to destroy Israel, who has been for more than 62 years, "the stumbling block of radical Muslims." As for Europe, the Muslims must be careful, the business is not as easy as it sounds, remember Yamamoto and his "sleeping giant." Europe can wake up and turn your hopes imperial at millions of tears. By the way according to your twisted sense of justice million Muslims may kill the hungry in Europe, but Europeans in Israel are invaders. "Shame on You."
55. World Citizen, is it you Hussein?
Y'allah Y'allah ,   Eurabia   (10.08.10)
Errr, Hussein, you're speaking in the name of Europe? Gotta love it! Keep on posting, I love to laugh at your posts!! Tks! :)
56. # 14 Christian Arab from Nevada
Y'allah Y'allah ,   Eurabia   (10.08.10)
"Arabs will be on top of the world once again! " Yes, only in your wildest dreams. First, they need to learn to move on from 1,400 years ago.
57. Lene Singer re Denmark
Y'allah Y'allah ,   Eurabia   (10.08.10)
Denmark's conduct during the war was exemplary. Your average Dane took enormous personal risks during the Nazi occupation to save their fellow Jews. While the rest of Europe sank into a diabolical darkness, Denmark represented a shining ray of light of humanity (unlike Quisling Norway) Mange tak Danmark!
58. rath marry me
israeli ,   israel   (10.08.10)
thank G-D a self-loving Jew loving his people--but I have to say while the victory over Europe will be sweet an all Mussy world is going to bad for us--so ma hadash>(whats new) ps Rath are you single?
59. This is awesome
Frank ,   Canada   (10.08.10)
60. Just look at what is happening within Europe...
Elizabethlynne ,   Dallas, TEXAS!   (10.08.10)
And still the Europeans are trying appeasement, denial, and half-measures to rein in the problems within their countries. Here in Dallas, we are starting to see some of the same problems, when recently a Muslim father murdered his two daughters for being "too Western" and the FBI and law enforcement officials refused to call it an "honor killing".... denial, inaction---dangerous situation.
