61. Welcome to the fascist state
Avi ,   Israel   (10.11.10)
"a country that invades the sacred space of the citizen's conscience, and punishes him for opinions and beliefs that are not in line with the authorities … ceases to be a democracy and becomes a fascist state." I presume the likes of Eli Yishai, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Baruch Marzel and the rest of the lawless right wing thugs will be signing a decleration to upheld the law of Israel and to obide by the supreme courts descision ?
62. Evolution
Albert Bakker ,   Veendam   (10.11.10)
Just a case of curtains dropping. Zionism is not compatible with democracy. Israel is pushing a square peg in a round hole. And like kids who aren't bright enough to solve the puzzle abandon all sense and resort to ever more violence. Yet the puzzle always wins. This is just another manifestation of the same stupidity, the same underlying moral rot that has just spread a little bit further.
63. I pledge allegiance to the flag of Israel
Dov ,   USA   (10.11.10)
What is so bad? Am I hurting anyone in doing so? I don't understand why all the opposition.
64. #55 Noor, Israeli History and Dynamics are Different
Dallas ,   Canada   (10.11.10)
Israel was founded for the very real need for a homeland for Jews after millenia of persecution, unlike any other group. Multicultual narrative of course precludes that logic, but multiculturalism has replaced rationality in so many damaging ways. Besides, Israel is surrounded by Islamic states and needs the distinction to avoid becoming another Islamic state, and creating the need once again for a Jewish homeland. Unique history, and rational thinking totally justifies the existence of a Jewish state, in fact it's necessary.
65. Why do I like my Israeli 2 Impostor?
Israeli 2   (10.11.10)
Perhaps because he is as crazy as I am?
66. #12: I wil tell you what Israel is offering to
(10.11.10)
me, regardless of which party forms the government: the right to fight for my survival if attacked by enemies, the right to live respectfully if I survive those wars, the right for my children not to be gased in concentration camps set up for them by "enlighted" Europe with the active or passive support of the rest of the "enlighted" world. Is that not enough? No one will drive me away from this country, because Israel to us is the difference between death and life. I am not sure that you are intelligent enough to understand that.
67. #55: I see that you have never bothered to
Vardina   (10.11.10)
read the American consstitution as you have no idea to what you have pledged loyalty. Take the effort and read.
68. self-defence is fascism? only to an ignorant fool
dante ,   uk   (10.11.10)
there is nothing anti-democratic about self-defence. the Israeli left is not only bereft of sense but of knowledge, as well. it might start by learning something about democracy.
69. collaborators
michel france ,   paris   (10.11.10)
this "intellectuals" are playing as allways in the hand of those antisemites that refuse any mouvement going in the direction of a jewish people souverain on its land
70. loyalty
Albi ,   Ashkelon   (10.11.10)
Since we can now legislate loyalty, the next step we should take is brainwash children to report any criticism their parents express to the authorities. Sound familiar?
71. to #61 that is not Shas involvment
ghostq   (10.11.10)
Israel Beitenu r non religious. duh, your hatred sure blind you.
72. The loony leftists that teach our children should be ashamed
Vicky ,   Ashkelon Israel   (10.11.10)
The State of Israel was declared to protect and serve the JEWISH PEOPLES dispersed around the world, bringing us back together, back to the land from which we were given by Hashem. We have taken in more refugees than any other nation per pro the size of our land. We have not demanded that they convert to Judaism, neither have we treated them any differently than ourselves. They have the same rights, same benefits. Is it so much to ask that you accept US and our HOMELAND by confirming an oath of Loyalty? To the so called Academia, you should be ashamed of yourselves, how many of your parents were survivors of the holocaust? How many given refuge from racial abuse. If communism and facism is how you want to live with your leftist views go back to Russia, go to Bolivia, Vennuzela , Cuba and live as they do. Under suppression, not allowed their own view, not allowed to pray. Go to Arab Countries and try and demand they allow, Christians, Bhuddist, Hini, Communist, and Jews worship in freedom. You would be stoned to death or decapitated for not being a Muslim. We leave you in peace to worship or non-worship as you please, and it is not too much to ask that you leave us in our JEWISH STATE, to be as JEWISH as WE LIKE! I say that this is the only thing that Bi Bi had got right since he's been in office!
73. Who's Stabbing Us in the Back?
Moshe ,   Petach Tikva   (10.11.10)
Professor Gabi Solomon said, "... There is a reason for persecuting the Arabs; they are a fifth column and will stab us in the back. The fact that they haven't done so in 62 years is irrelevant." You're right professor. It's not the Arabs who are stabbing us in the back. It's is you and your friends.
74. Oath
Dec ,   Vancouver Canada   (10.11.10)
Well now, When will be a law in Israel to sterilize Palestinian women or impose only one child ????
75. Intellectuals? Please give me a break
digger ,   Seattle, WA, USA   (10.12.10)
For so-called intellectuals, they're pretty ignorant. Perhaps they're so open minded their brains have fallen out. It's pledging loyalty to the nation that defends you and provides considerable benefits that you would unlikely be able to provide on your own. Pledging loyalty to the nation you live in means you are also less likely to be an enemy of the nation. It's basic and has nothing to do with fascism.
