31. #28 Bana ne; We will always welcome help from Turkish people
Eran ,   Singapore   (12.03.10)
Help is sent to Israel by the Turks and not by Erdogan and we welcome it. But do us a favor, get rid of AKP and Erdogan. They are a danger to you more than us.
32. I love how ..
Tom ,   Paris   (12.03.10)
... the Greeks kisses Israeli asses.
33. re: # 12 and Turkey
joel ,   usa   (12.03.10)
well a turkey is always a turkey; many don't think that turkey is qualified for an EU membership, though most of the citizens are in favor but they are "dictated" by its leaderships just like any other muslim country? without connections to the west, turkey could slide down economically and its coming soon with Erdogan around!
34. don't kill the sense of humanity!!!
take it easy... ,   istanbul-türkiye   (12.03.10)
i see some groups of people in both turkey and israeli side who always trying to find something to 'hate'.stop thinking ideologically 'one minute'.i don't embrace the erdogan's attitutes and didn't vote him anytime like many of the turks but i also don't like the psycophatic israeli fanatics.and i never understand some of the greek friends who always tries to humiliate or attack turkey.seeing people who speaks without a little knowlodge and wtih much more prejudice on my country made me write this...
35. Israel's sky is caving in
Avi ,   NYC, USA   (12.03.10)
Step by step all of Israel's allies are deserting it. Why? Maybe the smell, or maybe everyone is simply an antisemite. Instead of pondering the reasons for these developments, the childish Israeli mind reacts by hurling slurs and threats against everyone. "Kick Turkey out of NATO!"- Why don't you , big boy Guy Bechor, kick Turkey yourself? Afraid? Why should the European Goyim do the work for you?
36. Bana me mi? Let ,me tell you?
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (12.03.10)
First of all I am sure that Israeli's are grateful for this help and I as aTurkish born American Jew thank the Tirkish people for their help in these difficult times. But since you are using this opportunity (I would not bring it up if you had not gloated and kind of insulted Israelis by calling them sick) to gloat let me also remind you that during the great earthquake in Istanbul area including Bursa Gemlik Yalova Izmit, Adapazari, the first and most affective help came from Israel. Israel was able to put up prefabricated town in Adapazari before anyone could complete with running water and sewage. Let also remind you that Israel supported and still supports Turkey in the Cyprus case as well as blocking the yearly Armenian Genocide bills in the US congress. It was the Israeli influence and the Jewish American lobby that helped the lifting of the 1974 US embargo to Turkey. Need I say you that guy who calls himself (sana ne = what is it to you) make me sick (Please good Turks do not take it on you, this is only to that guy in Melbourne.
37. to people of Israel
ChicagoTurk ,   Windy City,USA   (12.03.10)
Thank you so much guys for your full of hate comments and Thank you again to blaming Turkey for everything. I am just wishing your country and your newspaper never ever talk about my country anymore. if you don't like us please tell your president to close down Israeli embasy in Turkey and kick to Turkish ambassador out of your country. because you need more hatred from Turkey, so from now I will post every hater speech here to Turkish online newspaper to show how hateful you guys . They deserve to know what Israeli people thinking about Their country. so please guys do not claim me as a anti-semitics cause it is only thing you just using against to someone who you don't like. Thank you
38. #34, 37
Solomon ,   Bklyn   (12.03.10)
#34 istanbul-turkiye- I thank you for writing this. There are extremes on both sides. I welcome your comments to try and bring more civility into the conversation. #37 ChicagoTurk- The people who speak of hating Turkey are reflecting what they heard first from Turkey and Erdogan; Hatred of Israel. It doesn't help when Erdogan insists Israel is to blame for Turkey sending thugs on the ship with the expressed purpose of killing Israeli soldiers, especially with YouTube accounts showing this truth.
39. How Funny
Hanzoman   (12.03.10)
How Funny. Mr. Guy Bechor equals Turkey, which has an after western principals democratically elected government to Iran. Furthermore he sees his own country Israel in line with dictatorial Arab regimes. Both Israel and the Arab regimes are not members of Nato, and still Mr Bechor calls to throw out Turkey from Nato. Mr Bechors point of view is with simple words ridiculous. I can only advise to Mr Bechor to get used to it that Turkey is a modern democracy with a social market of at the moment 75 millions consuments. Till 2050 experts say Turkey will grow up to 100 million people. I am sorry but either you accept our surely improvable democracy and live with it, or you are outside, continue to support dictatory arab regimes that disdain basic human rights and can therefore not be taken serious by an Turk.
40. :: Israel, beware of deceptive Turkish "help"
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (12.03.10)
They will send airplanes with IHH Jiahdi pilots to increase the damage from the fire and take aerial photos for future Muslim terrorist attacks.. Tell them a big "NO"
41. What's going on?
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (12.03.10)
Did everyone at Yediot lose their minds? Between the drivel I just read by Moshe Dann and this I think there must be lead in the water pipes at the office there. Since when was China counted as an official enemy of NATO? I'm pretty sure Germany and France (key members of the alliance) have conducted military exchanges with China and, in fact, so has the USA. What are you talking about Mr. Bechor? Isn't it enough we have REAL enemies you want to add 80 million Turks to our problems? Like Assad said to Erdogan. Calm down. He's in a bad position domestically because the Kurds (who basically got him into power) aren't going to vote for AK again. And since he hasn't seized power by force, like Ahmenhijad did, he's still the legitimate PM of Turkey. So deal with it. I don't like him but you can't always pick your friends.
42. Re: 38
GUH   (12.03.10)
((The people who speak of hating Turkey are reflecting what they heard first from Turkey and Erdogan; Hatred of Israel)) So criticism and demanding an apology for the murder of its citizens is... hatred? (( It doesn't help when Erdogan insists Israel is to blame for Turkey sending thugs on the ship with the expressed purpose of killing Israeli soldiers,)) Fact: three Israeli soldiers were disarmed and surrounded by hundreds. If they had wanted to kill Israelis, they had all the means to do so. What did they really do? They let them go... so much for wanting to kill Israeli soldiers. Now tell me something: why is Israel the only one who can practice the right to self-defense? ((especially with YouTube accounts showing this truth.)) Youtube?! Israel confiscated all footage of the incident and showed the world only the parts that it wanted the world to see, exaggerated and edited of course. The only thing you recognize as "truth" is something that supports your view of the world; any truth that opposes it is hatred, lies, propaganda, and anti-semitism.
43. To: No. 1
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.03.10)
Actually, for what it is worth, all six wars were started by the Arabs; not Israel. Moreover, Israel endured years of daily missile barrages fired from Lebanon into northern Israeli civilian population centers before responding in 2006. Similarly, Israel endured eight years of daily missile barrages fired into civilian population centers from Gaza before responding with Cast Lead. Most countries wouldn't have waited eight seconds before retaliating, let alone eight years. You are a pluperfect idiot, and a grossly misinformed one, to boot.
44. To: No. 12
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.03.10)
The U.S. needs Turkey the way you need another hole in your head. Turkey has moved away from the West, aligned itself with Iran and Syria -- two pariah state sponsors of terror. Mr. Bechor has very kindly echoed what I have been saying for years -- time to kick Turkey out of NATO. Turkey wants to straddle the fence by catering to Islamofascist elements and by remaining in NATO. Can't have both, and Turkey has made its preference obvious.
45. To: No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.03.10)
Israel was enforcing a fully legal and internationally recognized blockade. The MAVI MARMARA, whose so-called "humanitarian" passengers turned out to be IHH terrorists, was warned not to attempt to run the blockade, a warning it chose to ignore. Consider yourself lucky that Israel did not simply blow the MAVI MARMARA right out of the water.
46. This "article" is proof positive that...
Persian CAT   (12.03.10)
even a garden variety village idiot can publish in Israel. Bechor-types create enemy images for Israel out of a marshmallow.
47. this is all very bad
alptekin ,   ankara, turkey   (12.03.10)
the whole article and the comments from israel are very bad.you forget everything good very easily. Turkey was one of the the first muslim countries to recognize israel and turks always had warm relations with jews even long before there was a country called turkey. besides its only a small minority who is against israel's existence. the turkish people dont want israel destroyed, we just want it to review its policies. Erdogan is no dictator. he came to power with election. and he will go away with another one. but after he is gone this hostility of yours against us, that we wont forget either.
48. #4 well said .So many of them open their big mouth without
rachel ,   usa   (12.03.10)
reallly knowing what is really going on.
49. #42 GUH
Solomon ,   Bklyn   (12.03.10)
1. No. It's hatred when Turkey knew what the thugs intended to do, sent them, and then complain when the soldiers self-defense was successful. 2. Wrong. Three Turks deserve credit and thanks for surrounding the wounded soldiers that were kidnapped and brought below decks, and prevented the others from killing the soldiers, as they wanted to do. The soldiers were then brought on deck with thugs as guards. The IDF shot at the guards, scaring them away, allowing the soldiers to jump into the water and escape. No one "let them go". 3. Edited, yes, to show what was happening. White circles showing soldiers initially armed with paint ball guns being hit with pipes and stabbed were used so people could see fact from fiction. One shot showed a soldier being stabbed, yet not turning around and shooting his attacker. This was also one of the parts of the film. Clarifications, yes. Exaggerations, faked scenes? Only in the recent Turkish film made to show what Turkey would like others to believe happened...even though it didn't. 1, 2, &3: As usual, the devil is in the details. You refuse to believe what you see before your own eyes. Pity.
50. #37 with all the antisemitic tv shows you have
rachel ,   usa   (12.03.10)
you must be joking......right?
51. DONT Worry
Fatih Sultan MehmetI ,   Istanbul Turkey   (12.03.10)
As to me, Turkey must concentrate a form all mid-east nations and countries except Israel. We dont need EU, we need only the democratic rules and systematic development and cooperation role of EU. Then as you know mate, Big Boss On the scene !
52. Thats why turkey sends fire planes and iran not
Piri ,   Negev   (12.04.10)
You are just anti Turk. Turkey has helped the world jewry many times in the past history. the problem lies with the illegal actions of this extreme right wing gov of israel
53. This article is full of flaws
Ibrahim ,   Ankara, Turkey   (12.04.10)
The Iranian people have hatred towards the Israeli people. The Turkish people have absolutely no problems with their Jewish Israeli cousins. At this stage our governments have political differences. But this can be overcome as we have NO hatred at the people to people level.
54. Turkish vulnerability
faboutlaws ,   Chicago, USA   (12.04.10)
Turkey wants to support Hamas and Hizbollah? Perhaps it's time for the US and Israel to start arming the Kurds. The Kurds have been a lot more friendly than Turkey to the US of late.
55. Turkey is like Iran?
Sinan Edil ,   istanbul, Turkey   (12.04.10)
Hi, I just read your article stating Turkey is like Iran and Turkey needs to be kicked out of NATO because Turkish Gov't (regime is not a correct wording in my opinion because it covers all of the parties and governmental instutitions) is against Israel. Let' see.. I don't like Erdogan's Gov't or his party a bit and I always vote against them for CHP party. However that does not mean Turkey as a whole is an enemy of Israel, hates all Jews and will fight against Israel. I am not sure how you come up with all these but these are incorrect statements and views. Turkish-Jewish friendship or Turks' protection of Jews goes for not only to 1492 when Sephardic Jews were saved by Ottoman Sultan Beyazid II from the Crusading Spanish but to at least 2000 years when a Turkic nation, Khazar Turks took Judaism as their religion and thus became Jews in what we call Caucasians and made most of the Jews in that region. Maybe you are one of them, I am not sure but many Jews who came from that region like Daghestan can trace their ethnic routes to those people. Turkish-Jewish friendship a lot more deeper than Erdogan's 8 years of rule in Turkey. Secondly, past two Isreali Gov't acted in a very bad manner brought Erdogan's always existing anti-Israeli wrath to themselves but not paying enough attention to him and his real feelings about Israel. The raid on Gaza, the raid on Mavi Marmara (which could have been easily prevented if dialog was made before the raid) all faults of the Israeli Gov't. My friend, I have been in Iran. I have been in Syria and I have been in most of Middle East. Believe me Turkey is no where close to be Iran or any of those countries. Also, you are always making Iran a big satan and Anti-Christly figure but it's not Iranians it's Ahmedinecat that you should worry about. Iranian nation hate him except the Mollas (religious people) and I can only count the days his "regime" will be gone, he can not sustain his way of politics and controlling the wrestless young Iranian nation. The only good thing that Erdogan achieved is actually opening the borders to Middle East and letting Turkish business flow into the Middle Eastern market. Besides that Turkish Military will never go and fight for any Arab nation or to defend Iran against anyone. After all, we are not crazy Arabs but Turks who are used to ruling but not being ruled or played by others. Also by not being part of NATO, Israel and Israelis have no place or no voice over Turkey's membership in NATO. Turkey defended NATO and our allies in Cold War and takes part in NATO operations. I could easily say Turkey is one of the top five countries in NATO along with US, France, UK and Germany. It does not make any sense for NATO to kick Turkey out as NATO needs Turkey more than Turkey needs NATO. With warm regards Sinan
56. To #53 Ibrahim and the good Turkish people
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (12.04.10)
Thank you so so much for helping with the fire! It means a lot considering the political tension. Real educated middle class Iranians have no problem with Israel and they admire it very much for its achievements. Iranians dislike Arabs the most. It's a fact. The hatred you see for Israel is created by the people who get direct pay checks from the mafia type regime of Iran. They have to show up otherwise they will not get fed. These are facts. The participants of all demonstrations are majority the families of The Revolutionary Guards and the people who got hurt during the war with Iraq and the guards themselves. They get transported by buses all over the country for the rodeo show of power of the regime. The real Iranians love Israel and they come to Israel for all kinds medical treatments all the time.
57. To #55 Sinan
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (12.04.10)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HELP WITH THE FIRE! I agree with all of your comments and views. ... Thanks again.
58. You are insane
Amos Gilos ,   B.Faso   (12.04.10)
and you must be drunk!
59. #55 Sinan
Solomon ,   Bklyn   (12.04.10)
It is good to read what you write. But two points should not be ignored: 1. Wrong. The Israeli government tried and tried to speak with Erdogan, warned Erdogan, but Erdogan went ahead with the Flotilla with full knowledge of what the IHH planned. 2. Turkey supports NATO's enemies. NATO does NOT need Turkey more than Turkey needs NATO, as important as Turkey might be.
60. THIS IS DEAD ON RIGHT
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (12.04.10)
The fact is Turkey cannot be trusted again, or at the very least, for a very long time. Turkey has done a complete 180 towards the West, Israel and all the Arab governments that deal with the West. No U.S. weapons should be given, sold or transferred in any way to Turkey. All spare parts program must end. Of course this leaves an opening for the Russians and I'm sure Turkey will turn to Russia and China. So what! The fact is our weapons are superior like our technology. Turkey, at least it's government has turned radical and has become friends with the most evil countries in the M.E.. The sooner we face up to that, the better and safer we'll all be. The flotilla incident is the classic example, these guys were caught in a dead bang lie. The incident was staged, the terrorists on board started it, the video's prove it was premeditated, yet the megalomaniac behavior of the the Turkish thug leader goes on. The same proven flotilla lies repeated Ad nauseam. So a price must be paid.
