and there's more. If El Baradei somehow go to ruling Egypt, the peace treaty between Israel and Egypt could come into question. Even if he does not end it, I see him not really enforcing and trying to weaken it. And right now as it is, the "friendship" between Israel and Egypt is a cold one. He is not good for Israel or for the region for that matter.
3. re: Elbaradei and Iran
joel ,   usa   (02.05.11)
Elbaradei is a "traitor" to UN's nuclear agency he is Iran secret "spy" to the UN; in fact he is supported by this banned radical Muslim Brotherhood in a secret arrangements, watch him if the radical islamist group take over?
4. More on Mr ElBaradei.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (02.05.11)
An interesting take on ElBaradei at SULTAN KNISH blog site. Doesn't anyone find it odd that ElBaradei suddenly pops up & has so much support? And who supports him? The Muslim Brotherhood, Obama, & the Leftist media. And, organizations associated & financed by Soros the anti-Semite. Something possitively stinks ......
5. The Solution
Shmuel ,   Ge   (02.05.11)
Egypt and it's people will decide what it's future government looks like. It will define its strategic interests. It will have for the first time have it's say on it's relations and policy toward Israel. This is scaring the crap out of Israel who has benefited from the virtual indifference of Mubaraal whose interests were those of a tyrannical depot. So no more phone calls with Mubarak, no more trips to Sharm , no more colusion on Gaza, no more smokescreens. It's over and you never saw it coming.

10. the solution is simple- as Ronald Reagan
Barney ,   USA   (02.06.11)
said trust but verify. If you do this then you will know that you can't trust the islamists. Israel, grow, guard your flanks, and make sure you have the best intelligence and are the baddest asses in the neighborhood. You can't trust ANY of the arab countries. period.
11. No similarity with Khomeinin
john ,   cardiff   (02.06.11)
One needs look no further than the case of Iran’s revolution in 1979. It took many long, chaotic months of protests among the middle class before Ayatollah Khomeini and his Islamist dream were embraced. The free world is still paying for this unfortunate choice. ---------------------------------- khomeini was a Shiah leader living in exile in iraq for more than a decade but his sermons were circulating in Iraq during this period. Al-Bardei or Muslim Brotherhood has no similarity with khomeini or Iran. Al-Bradie is a secular Western minded person. It is good if he works with Muslim Brothrhood and teach them to change their radical attitude. By the way, similar groups are available in Israel and are part of the present govt.. The World and its ground realities has changed. None of the Islamic country, including Egypt, can be ruled now with the philosophy of Muslim brotherhood.

You wrote, that it's good for MoElBar to work together with the Ikhwan Muslimin, to change their radical attitude. Have to disagree, maybe they change his rest of civilized attitudes into islam-conform behaviour, but we are not going to see them abandon their primitive holy scriptures. They actually are hard-wired to the scriptures, ever since the Ikhwan was born. MoElBar knows that, I am sure and he embraces it, more or less, a bit like the dubious role he played all the years in the IAEA.
13. bulls eye, no alternative for mubarak
ghostq   (02.06.11)
albaradaei made such huge splash with no ability to make good gov, it as if he will become the new decator since he offer only his candidatcy, which means the protest was for nothing, democrachy is not over night thing, people should get plane B or suitable replacment. if you ask me mubarak will stay with limited conditions.
14. The REAL Solution
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (02.06.11)
It seems the REAL solution for Y-Net and the majority of talk-backers is for Lieberman to appoint a viceroy to run Egypt the right way. No Egyptian Need Apply. No American either because they too cannot be trusted to govern themselves, let alone others.
15. Mr. RJ Brodsky , You Miss the Point
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.06.11)
Egypt wants to turn into a real democracy, not just to get rid of the Mubarak regime, I mean, if the Muslim Brotherhood Or any other anti-"Israel " fail to reach to power in the upcoming elections, the opportunity will remain favorable for them in any other elections . The time of the traitor kings of the Arab republics who are loyal to America and "Israel" remain for thirty or fifty years in power is on its way to extinction.
16. Only another MOBAREK
Ahmad ,   Jaruselem   (02.06.11)
Israelis will be only satisfied if they have another MOBAREK.
17. Nr 13 - Right.

18. El Baradei
deborah lurya ,   irvine, ca USA   (02.06.11)
Muslim Brotherhood is truly a problem for Israel, and the world. Even if the military regime stays after in power after Mubarak's departure, they will not be able to satisfy the demands of angry, hungry Egyptians... Muslim Brotherhood is fully entrenched in the Egyptian society, much like Hamas is in Gaza, building social networks, charitable organizations for the needy, schools, hospitals, mosques, etc - social services for all. If the Muslim Brotherhood gets hold of real power in Egypt, Israel will no longer have a working peace. She will be left alone, to navigate stormy weather by herself. Isolated and unfriended. Perhaps that is how it is supposed to be- part of the Infinite plan. it seems to me that if we Jews are not in control of our own destiny, having our own autonomy and sovereignty, then we are doomed to perish, by many different means, none of them any good
19. Mohamed is not the solution?
Keren ,   IL-BR   (02.06.11)
Well,it depends to whom "the solution"is intended. Complementing Terry's talkback,Blair and his UN must be included in Mohamed Elbaradei's rol of supporters. After all, what has been doing Blair in Yerushalaim all this time ? Answer:he waits for *these* precise moments to push a little bit more from Israel. Here he is in the media again telling Bibi what to do. They are all presidents of the same club...
20. Barak for president!
berlonski ,   berlin   (02.06.11)
Obama should finally conquer Israelis' hearts and push Cairo to make Ehud Barak Egypt's new president! All problems solved for everyone, no?
21. to #15
Barney ,   USA   (02.06.11)
as is the case in all arab dealings, the egyptians will not miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. they will eventually wind up in the self destruct mode of islamic hatred and will blame Israel for their woes. Never seen a culture that loves hatred, misery, death, lack of freedom and then blames everyone else for their problems.
22. Chaos is the only ruler they will know
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (02.06.11)
Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, Syria and Yemen are being destroyed because of the actions of OPEC. Arab greed has caused the problem and anybody in charge won't be there for long. The Egyptians are starving plain and simple. Why are they starving, because there is no Egyptian economy. They produce nothing to speak of and haven't the brains for technology. OPEC has forced the price of oil up so the West has turned to creating fuel from food. Well now there is less food available to those countries too stupid to figure out how to produce it themselves. And what food is left costs more to move because of the oil prices. The Arabs have problems and most of them are self inflicted. We just need to wait and the Arabs will get their wish of returning to the 8th Century.
23. Mohamed ElBaradei's isn't Egypt's choice!
michael redbourn ,   arad israel   (02.06.11)
It's always strange how so many journalists look at a situation from their point of view and not from the point of view of the people involved. Mohamed ElBaradei is not a serious option for Egyptians because he lived abroad for so long and because of his ties to extremist Islam. http://tinyurl.com/ElBaradei-a-muslim Fortunately the world has woken up to ElBaradei, but only after they gave him a Nobel Prize. They gave Arafat one too! Mubarak's not going anywhere. He will step down and allow elections in November after which one of his protégés will take over power. Mubarak has subdued Islamic extremism in Egypt and must be commended for having done so. Obama dropped 5 points in recent opinion polls because of his attacks on Mubarak. Would Obama like another country to call for his resignation? No! And Americans don't like him doing so either!
25. Funny Buissness
George ,   Egypt   (02.07.11)
The buz word for the Isrealli regime is SECURITY, Even it means making friends with undemocratic Arab leaders for a long time like Mobarak. On the Other side the Isrealli regime always critisized Egypt for its autocratic regime. Thats FUNNY eh?
26. To: Gee at No. 22
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.07.11)
Actually, the Egyptian economy is dependent on three things: (1) tourism, (2) cotton and (3) the Suez Canal. Item (1) is dead; item (3) is dying (Somali piracy being the chief culprit) and Item (2) is inedible. Basically, Egypt is dying. All the talk about "democracy" is just a lot of blather. The Egyptians -- and Arabs generally -- are not interested in the concept of democracy; most have no idea what it means. Like people everywhere, however, the Egyptians know when they are hungry. The best and smartest thing that Israel -- and the world, for that matter -- can do for Egypt is to ship food; quickly.
27. To: No. 15
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.07.11)
Get over yourself, Salma. The ersatz "Palestinians" are a train that has left the station. Face it, no one cares about you. You're extinct.
28. To: No. 25
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.07.11)
Egypt went to war against Israel in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1969-70 and 1973. Mubarak gave you thirty years of stability. Do you have a problem with that? Why?
29. To N. 25
George ,   Egypt   (02.08.11)
I have have no problem with peace. But peace depending on dictators is much different that when depends on democracy.
