1. We're suckers. Time to demand total ban on Pal violence
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (02.20.11)
They demand we stop building houses, yet they keep firing rockets at our civilians, setting bombs on the border, shootings, knifings, throwing rocks and molotov cocktails through our windshields. It's time for our government to stop being wussies and go on the offensive: -demand an immediate freeze on all Palestinian violence in order to renew peace talks. -demand a total ban on donor funding until the Pals stop the violence and return to the negotiating table. -demand the Palestinians be condemned by the UN and their seat suspended -demand that the EU impose a trade and academic boycott of the PA until it stops the violence and unequivocally renounces violence. Demand that anybody who has investments in any Palestinian business immediate divest themselves of this blood money until the Palestinians halt all violence. Palestinian violence is illegal. It is against all international laws and treaties. It is blocking the peace process.
2. secyruty comes first
Ann Ross ,   australia   (02.20.11)
security comes first Read this: Israeli Defense Needs: Maj. Gen. (res.) Uzi Dayan www.youtube.com Israeli has a right to defend itself without being subject to an international military team and its final borders must ensure that Israeli territory is defensible, explained Uzi Dayan at a Hadar-Israel conference on "Israel's Critical Security Needs for a
3. where will Jews from Tunes and other Arab countires in tumoi
should go?   (02.20.11)
Now that Jews in Arab and Moslem countries in turmoil like Tunes, Yemen, and Turkey are facing threats and might be forced to leave these Arab countries, leaving their lands and property to Arabs, where will they go but Israel and where will they live if there is no construction ? by threatening Jews to leave Arab countries Arabs are stealing their lands and properties. Therefore they should stop asking Israel to give Arabs more lands.
4. EUROPE WILL SUPPORT ARABS. THEY NEED ARAB OIL AND MARKET.
(02.20.11)
5. Fear mongering...
Dave Smits ,   LA, US   (02.20.11)
Yes, take advise from Western Europe, after all, their idea of multiculturalism has worked so well for them. They don't mind doing business with Libya and Iran (see trade between Germany, Italy and Iran), oh but Israel is the bad guy. Stop being scared of your own shadow .The left loves to do this and the media in Israel follows along (cause they share the same values). Do what's best for Israel, not Europe, soon they will be more Islamic anyway (birthrates, immigration etc) so look towards the east.
6. When haven't they hated us! The settlements just an excuse
Schreiber   (02.20.11)
C'mon Israelis, you don't have any choice other than life. Choose life. Build and annex the land. Think of your descendants, not of what Europe thinks of you, the same Europe that killed six millions of us. It's the Europeans themselves who should be concerned with what Jews think of them. Why aren't you boycotting them? If only to remind them that we have neither forgiven nor forgotten. All that unless Israeli tycoons have different priorities. To sacrifice the land to please the Europeans in order to make bigger profits. The final outcome will tell us who is really running the country.
7. Europe just lost any influence in the ME
miki   (02.20.11)
... with their one-sided position. Actually, they dont give a shit about who and where build houses. They just want to be good in the eyes of the Arabs. Realpolitik, as they consider it. And the Arabs, in their turn, much more concerned by stability of their regimes. Anyway, European one-sided positions only deprives them of their influence in the region. Arabs simply dont need them, since they feel they are already in their little pocket...
8. yes you are right eu, europe has much to fear and lose
ralph   (02.20.11)
9. building permits annoy europe
moron ,   galut   (02.20.11)
iranian nukes gets euros less excited...maybe building is not the real problem for them--it's who is building that euros never liked
10. Every goal of "peace talks" with P.A. is deadly for Israel.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.20.11)
Rather than knuckling under to hostile pressure from European lefists, Israel needs to take the initiative and strongly explain that Judea and Samaria are ours. The European right, like the American right, are largely pro-Israel. Moreover, getting back to the negotiating table is the worst thing Israel can do. Every single goal of "peace talks" with the P.A. is deadly for Israel - from ceding Jerusalem, to trimming our waist to a suicidal 8 miles (a 15 minute tank ride). What Israel needs to do is mobilize our countless millions of friends in America, Europe and elsewhere to support us. Not give in to the hostile left.
11. Eurotrash already hate Israel, just go ahead and build, it
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (02.20.11)
won't make any difference.
12. What a Crock of BS
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (02.20.11)
Frankly, it was in Europe, not that long ago the Jewish people were nearly exterminated. So if I were them I could care less what they think. Most are being blackmailed by the OPEC nations anyway. As the article noted there is a built in majority at the UN always ready to delegitimize Israel. The fact is, since Israel's rebirth, they have been under some sort of boycott, yet without oil, and without teaching their children racist attitudes, Israel has flourished. It has been a humiliation to the Arabs, that despite all the Wars, Boycotts, delegitimization campaigns, terrorism, bus bombs, rocket attacks against civilians etc., Israel is the only true democracy in the region, and the economy has out performed the Arab countries to their utter shame. So the Arabs fall back on one of their favorite lies, settlements are an obstacle to peace. As silly as that sounds, what Israel was suppose to give? "another 3 months" of settlement freeze? That's the reason Europe's allegedly angry? When the Pals did nothing for the first 10 month freeze? Are you guys joking? Your seriously blaming Israel for NOT giving 3 more months of a settlement freeze? When the Pals stalled for 9 months of the first 10 months? Please save the Hollow indignation. Europe caves to the "Arab Street" so you expect Israel and the USA too. as well? Never happening. Will Israel suffer economicly, time will tell, I suspect their technology and medicines will never be boycotted anyways, that;s enough to run the country. Oh Yea, they recently discovered large gas supplies off their coast, something their Arab neighbors (Lebanon for one) NEVER even thought of looking for. Just keep killing each other while Israel continues to get rich, later suckers.
13. Constant double standrads
David M.   (02.20.11)
I have news for Attila Somfalvi and other leftist: it's not the settlements that are the red flag to Europeans, it's the Jews wherever they are. Isn't it strange that all those peace an human-rights lovers who demonstrate against Israel when Palestinians are concerned, haven't mounted a single protest against current killings in Libya, Bahrein or Iran. Obviously, it's not the human rights or protection of life they care about, but the way to undermine Israel. Unfortunately the gullible Israeli Left, lends them hand in their endeavor.
14. Forget Europe
David M.   (02.20.11)
Jews have been able to survive despite European hatred for centuries and will be able to flourish without European help as well. The continent is almost dead and Islamized already. It's better for Israel to forge friendships with India,China and the rest of the world instead.
15. anonymous sources, state officials: who??
bernard Ross ,   st anns bay jamaica   (02.20.11)
16. stop the nonsense
jdk ,   nyc usa   (02.20.11)
Your logic that at this point we need to see who is going to be the lieder in arab countries ( in other words they are a wild card) and because of that we can negotiate because we don't know what is going to happen, should be the reason for stopping negotiating, because as with Egypt , somebody to negotiate may change, so something negotiated with anybody doesn't mean anything. Continuing negotiations to appear that we are negotiating so the european antisemites would allow us to continue doing business with them it is a childish and dangerous path. It is time to grow up and let the world hear the truth, that for security reasons we are keeping all the territories and no more negotiations.
17. Israel must not run scared because
Barney ,   USA   (02.20.11)
as europe becomes islamisized as it is now, there will be nothing Israel can do to appease the muslims. What did leaving gaza accomplish? Israel must deal from strength and create products that people everywhere want. Giving in to the muslim influenced public opinion will only lead to disaster. soon enough europe will wake up to see the crappy bed they have made to live in. they will then all wear veils and submit to islam or get some balls and make a stance.
18. Cojones
Rachel ,   US   (02.20.11)
If Bibi had cojones he would bring attention to the double standard in the UN. The have time to condemn Jews but no word for Qaddafi massacring his own people.
19. Europe has distanced herself from Jews for ages !!!
tom ,   tel aviv   (02.20.11)
20. Oh really - D'oh!
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (02.20.11)
What? You mean because our best friend wouldn't let that puny little Palestinian bully threaten us, NOW after only 44 years of occupation, people are not going to side with us, that we're unpopular? That every settlement construction contract distances us from Europe and all the other friends we used to have? That this fuels the boycott and gives more ammunition to the delegitimizers? Really? Who'd have thought it? And that this could have economic consequences for us? My G-d!! Is this really happening? Why? What did we ever do to deserve it? How can stop it? What was that? Negotiate with those mean nasty bullying Palestinians? Help Mr Obama!! Help us PLEASE - save us from ourselves!!!!!!!!!
21. never mind, they hate us anyway...
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (02.20.11)
It does not matter what we do, build or not build, they Europeans will hate us together with their Arabs masters. Even if we were to pull out of Israel and commit suicide, they would destroy our graves.
22. BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT
ricardo Macher ,   Karne Shomron IL   (02.20.11)
THE NEXT STEP
23. you have no choice
M ,   EU   (02.20.11)
If you will handover Judea and Samaria, you will face total destruction. If you do not, you will lost economic ties with Europe - maybe. Keep your ground and do not compromise it ! Israel will survive, Europe - maybe we will survive too.
24. Boycotts of America and Israel.
(02.20.11)
For sure the Americans must be politically naive to endorse Israeli illegal settlements just when the Arab street launches its intifada against Western backed puppet regimes. The Europeans have hedged their bets, and it might be both the Americans and Israelis who pay the economic price for their isolated position, with boycotts and maybe more!
25. Stop with the Anxiety
Harry ,   Canada   (02.20.11)
Enough with the constant anxiety. Take a valium. Nothing new under the sun. The settlements are here to stay. The Europeans have been voting against settlements since day one. Its called lip service. As electricity takes over and oil recedes as a weapon so the settlements will be removed from the Israeli headlines. The vast majority in the world couldn't care less. They are too busy fighting for economic survival.
26. Opposite effect of boycott
Mastrich ,   Mastrich   (02.20.11)
Every time boycott voices arise around the world, millions like me look harderand buy more and more Israeli products. End result: growth for the Israeli economy . That’s a fact!
27. Israel must change the rules of the Game
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.20.11)
Take back the Sinai, with it's access to the canal, oil and strategic depth, with full military force before Hamas and Iran do. Give the Jihad Arabs and their Western counterparts something real to bitch about.
28. #1 Right On - Call the Arabs on their BS
Dallas ,   Canada   (02.20.11)
The tired scapegoat of building houses instead of carving away strategic land to enable the radicals to paralyze Israel - just one more tired excuse to further the "process" - that's what the Pals want - there will never be peace, just the "process" of eliminating Israel. Time for the world to wake up and see the pattern - it's been 63 years now, why can't the world see through the charade?
29. How dare…
Tom W. ,   Windsor, Canada   (02.20.11)
These obnoxious self-serving sanctimonious European politicians threaten the nation of Israel based on the Arab revisionist history of this land! And for all those left-wing die-hard atheists, the history I’m referring to is Roman history and not Jewish biblical stories. I’m talking about the origins of this land being called Palestine; better know to Jews as Hadrian’s curse. Approximately 100 years after the death of Jesus, the last organized Jewish revolt against the Roman occupation of Judah (know as the Roman province of Judea) was lead by Shimon Bar Kosibah (later renamed as Bar Kokhba). Unfortunately, the Bar Kokhba revolt failed and the Jews were ruthlessly dealt with; approximately a half-million Jews were killed! The end result was Roman emperor Aelius Hadrianus was so furious with the Jewish rebellion that he renamed the province to Syria-Palaestina. To add further insult to injury, he renamed Jerusalem in honour of himself and the city became known as Aelia Capitolina. Later on when the Roman Empire converted to Christianity, the city of Jerusalem was once again recognized but the folly of this logic was that the name of this land remained as Palestine. Logically, Jerusalem was a city in a Jewish land and yet nothing happened until 1948 to reverse this plague of revisionist history! The Arabs that invaded and occupied the former Jewish land are not a nation called Palestine. They are Arabs living in a Jewish land but thanks to Hadrian’s handiwork, the world lived in wanton ignorance, believing the Jews were the foreign invaders while the Arabs were the indigenous people! The world’s ignorance of this land and the further persecution of the Jews because of their actions to claim this land are due to Hadrian’s curse! Well it’s about damn time the world wake up and stop ganging up on the Jews based on falsehoods (Exodus 23:1-3)! There are no Palestinian Arabs just Arabs living in Judah, which Hadrian attempted to erase from history! So how the hell do these European politicians have the nerve to threaten the Jewish people with a boycott for living and building on their own land?
30. When the Natural Gas comes online
Tuvea ,   Chicago, Illinois US   (02.20.11)
Israel should refuse to sell it to any country that supports suck resolutions. And sell the Natural Gas to countries opposed to such resolutions at a discount to the market price. Let Europe freeze its collective ass off during the winter. While we Americans stay toasty warm. And our INDUSTRIES enjoy a subsidy at European and Chinese expense. If you think that we Americans love you Israelis now ... just imagine how much more we will support you then!
