31. Foolish, Naive, Gullible, Dangerous and Fanciful
Noah Lev ,   HollywoodUSA   (06.11.11)
US has 305m people now(45m Hispanics;37m blacks, and 200m whites. In 2050, 200m blacks and Hispanics..240m whites..over 40m Asians. 75% of students under 18 are minority now. Do the math. Democrats are giving everything to its future constituencies. Jews are less than 2% of national vote, but give lots of gelt to Demos. Demographics in theM.E.are destroying Israel, piece by piece. Israel needs to : have feasible, viable borders..able to defend itself in an emergency and given time to group its reserves. Next war will be fought at first with missiles. (soften up Israel). The Prof does not mention: Jerualem. refugees, presence in the Jordan Valley, a Pales army, demilitarization, Golan Hts, control of air/water, treaties with enemies, etc. Recall that during WW1 and 2 activist liberals were murdered first by the NAZIs and Communists. Look at Syria, Libya for the future of Israel..its all out there to see, assuming one isnt blinded by naive, gullibe, stupid leftists and wishful thinking.

put a huge sock in it will you, you are becoming a bore.

birdi ,   israel   (06.11.11)
these traitors are most likely on hamas's payroll.
34. #21
Lippy ,   Proud Israeli   (06.11.11)
By "a full withdrawal from all occupied palestinian land.", do you include the existing State of Israel? That's what Hamas and most other ersatz "Palestinians" want.
35. ynet endless supply of leftist contributors ,why ?
Trumpeldor   (06.11.11)
They are just a dwindling minority, increasingly isolated within Israel !
36. Little men / little faith.
Steve   (06.11.11)
I have long thought PM Netanyahu was a weak leader with little faith. These senior Israeli diplomats make Netanyahu look strong and resolute by comparison. Has it occurred to these diplomats, the Palestinians do not want to negotiate with Mr. Netanyahu because they do not see in him a patsy like so many before him who negotiated Israel's patrimony away? Maybe a Holocaust denier would prefer someone equally dishonest. So why aren't they (the Palestinians) forthcoming? "Because they have all the reasons in the world to believe that we're not truly committed to negotiations?" Hardly. I believe there is little if anything to negotiate other than how to avoid unnecessary conflict between these disparate communities. Not so this prime minister.
37. Muyyad #3: Hudna?
Steve   (06.11.11)
You wrote: "We offer you cooperation, a window to the Arab world, and a very long period of guaranteed stability and peace, for generations to come." Are you offering us a truce, albeit a lenthy one? A Hudna? Why a "very long period of stability and peace?" We should be thankful, I suppose, your offer is longer than those Hamas has offered. Why not guaranteed stability and peace, period?
38. Recognize Palestine
Harold ,   USA   (06.11.11)
When will Netanyahu and his extreme religios government listen. The whole world is against Netanyahu and his gang. He thinks that he can do what ever he wants because of the nuclear weapons Israel has but LAW IS ABOVE ALL.
39. #33
Harold ,   USA   (06.11.11)
But you are on the US Taxpayers payroll like a spoiled 14 year old teen. Enough is enough with this bull sh-t.
40. #32
Harold ,   USA   (06.11.11)
You cannot fight freedom of speech with a huge sock. Wise-up and wake-up. Your comment resembles what the Ottoman used to say and do to the Arab countries including Palestine.
41. HAMAS
DOV ,   USA   (06.11.11)
I guess the rockets will be coming from a recognized souvenir nation, In which case no one will blame us for defending ourselves with all the necessary mean at our disposal without considering the international community.
42. Probably not a bad strategy
Ron ,   OC, US   (06.11.11)
Recognize a PA state, but with conditions. Such as no refugees, no 67 borders, no Jerusalem and no Army. The PA has a state with temporary borders. Pretty much on Israel's terms and to the relief of both the US and EU.
43. #9
Muayyad ,   Palestine   (06.11.11)
|Hamas - whose long-standing MAIN objective is to ERADICATE Israel - was FREELY elected by the palis to represent THEIR ASPIRATIONS." I think too many people forget why Hamas was voted in in the first place. The reason was Fatah's rampant corruption at the time, and the electorate saw no other alternative. Today Hamas says publicly they accept a 2-state solution, that implicitly recognizes Israel. What more do you want? For them to become Zionists? "Abbas and the "MODERATES" have also now EMBRACED hamas into their bosoms. " The paralysis of Palestinian politics and decision making in light of the division was quite destructive. It's not as simple as moderates embracing extremists. It's about picking up all the fragments of Palestinian society and once again present a united front to the world, preparing for statehood. I don't know why you must always see things through Israel's prism. Without a strong Palestinian partner, you will never have peace, that's not a threat but a fact and we both know it. "Since the UNITY govt was formed, hamas has REPEATEDLY declared that it will NOT recognise Israel - a position it has NEVER waver from since it was formed." I don't see why Hamas' partisan political views is an impediment for peace between Palestinian and Israelis. A multitude of Israeli political parties do not recognize the Palestinian people, let alone endorse a Palestinian state to preserve Zionism. Some of them even call us animals in your own Knesset, and participate in your coalition government. The point is, political parties do not define the national agenda, governments do. This is precisely what Abbas has been working on through a unity agreement, to bring together all the factions and say here we are, our institutions are ready, our security apparatus are efficient and effective, and we are ready for a *fair* peace deal with Israel. "So can you GUARANTEE that hamas will ACCEPT the terms DEMANDED by the Quartet? " Why must they? Read above. "If yes, then on what CONCRETE basis do you have for the guarantees? " On the basis of a unified security and police force, to which Hamas is signatory, and which would be controlled by the Palestinian government, not Hamas. Hamas has already ceased rocket fire from Gaza. The few that are occasionally launched are usually in retribution to Israeli action. Some people call it "resistance", I call it "symbolic resistance", a much weaker form of resistance than say building strong institutions. But hey, that is the genesis of real Palestinian democracy. What few resources are available and how to use them to rid ourselves of your occupation and build a state of our own, for our sake. "Oh, one more thing - do show verifiable PROOF that fatah has OFFICIALLY recognise Israel and its right to exist. " Fatah does not recognize Israel's right to exist. Just as the Likud Charter forbids any Palestinian Arab state between River and Sea. What are you coming to? The sole representative of the Palestinian people is the PLO, and they have recognized Israel as you know, so let's move on and get to the end game, and that is a Palestinian State in the WB/Gaza with EJ as its capital.
44. The answer
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.11.11)
People always ask why Israel has failed so miserably in the public relations war, even though Israel is the good guy fighting inhuman terrorists. The answer lies with Primor, Seibel and their ilk. The Israel diplomatic corps is the most incompetent, unprofessional organization in Israel, a place for "good old boys" to get good salaries for no work, as long as they support the anti-Israel narrative. The best thing that Lieberman could do is recognize that a country does not need overpaid pompous ambassadors. Shut the foreign service down, shut the embassies, and leave just consulates to issue passports. When you need an "ambassador", fly someone in who can represent the government. The money saved can be used to buy life-saving medicine.
45. #11
Muayyad ,   Palestine   (06.11.11)
"Muayyad your words sound sincere but you seem to not understand the inherent hypocrisy in them. If you can not accept Israel as the National homeland of the Jewish People with an Arab minority, how can we accept a Palestinian Homeland with no minorities allowed? " Who on Earth said Palestine will have no minorities? Your media has repeatedly misquoted Abbas and the PA. Abbas came out and said it clearly: We do not accept any Israeli soldier in Palestine (he was referrign to the Jordan Valley and a possible NATO presence there to reassure you). I challenge you to quote me any Palestinian official who voiced any crazy opinions that settlers would be forced out of Palestine. That is just plain crazy. Despite them being illegal settlers, Qurei'a and other officials have said in the past they are welcome to stay so long as they respect Palestinian law and accept Palestinian citizenship, and don't cause trouble. I also don't see any moral justification to compare Israeli Arabs with illegal settlers. Israeli Arabs (who we call Palestinians anyway) have been living there for centuries and millenia. Those settlers in the West Bank have been transferred there illegally and in contravention to international law and the Geneva conventions. "Stop the Apartheid policy and accept that if Israel needs to keep an Arab minority then Palestine may need to keep a Jewish minority. In both cases the minority population needs to have their rights protected as in any modern democratic country. " Then we agree. We ask you to please look into the rising problem of fascism and racism in Israel today, and i think you know what I'm talking about. When the mayor of Nazareth Ilit says during an interview with an Arab newspaper that "no way will a mosque ever be built in Nazareth Ilit and that city will remain "Jewish" what kind of "democratic country" are we talking about here? Otherwise admit that 2 states for 2 people can not work, and that the Jordanian Kings were right and "Jordan is Palestine." I'm glad you quote "Jordan is Palestine" because that is just plain nonsense, and vile propaganda spread by the hopeless in your side. Jordan is not Palestine, Jordan is Jordan, Palestine is Palestine.
46. Montreal moron yabbers on, speaks blahblah
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (06.12.11)
You're a "nice fellow"? No you're not. You're an armchair idiot pretending that nothing is happening in my backyard. Listen, buster, I happen to live in Judea, and these guys are talking about a serious issue. You don't believe them? You're entitled to your opinion. Unlike you, they are definitely not morons. If the Pals declare a state in September and the world recognizes them, it's my ass in the fire, not yours sitting in your cozy chair in Cote St Jew. The fictional Palestine will become reality. Idiots like you and Chaim #5 can keep your heads up your kiesters, but I live here and I'll listen to what these experienced diplomats have to say. Things are getting tense, not better, and we need serious steps to counter the Arabs who call themselves Palestinians. You, buster, are simply foreign hot air blowing in our faces and annoying us.
47. #29
Muayyad ,   Palestine   (06.12.11)
Isn't it true that we have many on 'both' sides calling for the complete removal of the other, from the land they are living on? That's exactly correct, we have more than our fair share of hateful biggots, as we all know you do too. We have lots of close-minded, proud people with no sense of achievment of their own besides nagging and self-victimizing. Those are the people who (unfortunately) will win the argument should Israel choose war this September rather than embrace sanity and accept the inevitable about Palestinian self-determination. "Terrrorists must not be allowed to prosper, nor should acts of holigans like what happened when a close Jewish friend of mine in Shiloh got beat up by Jews while trying to defend Arab labourers here." I salute your friend's actions and assure you that real Muslims know better than to hate Jews, people of the book. Remember Spain and who harbored (then rescued) Jews there? "It must be clear by now that blaming the whole problem on settlers wasn't the problem before 1948, 1967 and certainly not now. The core issue is about living in peace and mutual respect. " How is it possible to ignore those settlers when most of them in Hebron, Yitzhar, etc. are determined to use violence rather than deal with the new emerging reality? I should not assume you support the 2-state solution but I presume that you do given you did not hurl the automatic (and mindless) "Jordan is Palestine" slogan. How is it possible to have 2-states when the number of settlers in the West Bank has risen from 300k to over 600k in less than 20 years and especially (and ironicall) since the Oslo Accords were signed?
48. #42 Temporary Borders will not Fly
Muayyad ,   Palestine   (06.12.11)
I hate to break it to you but even we the "leftists" of Palestinian society are fed up and bored of temporary fixes. We will accept nothing short of a full state with final borders. 20 years of humiliation and Areas A and B are more than enough thank you. One more thing, the PA said they will not accept temporary borders and had rather go for the binational state rather than settle for something which we both know will become permanent. Your evil little plan is exposed.

wow you have so much to learn about the US aid money to Israel. maybe some kind soul here will explain the details to you. your stupidity shines through your every word.

I will not tell you what you resemble as ynet would not publish my post. lech kfar!
51. I wonder if Prof Ruby Seibel...
david singer ,   sydney   (06.12.11)
..."the former legal adviser to the Foreign Ministry and an international law expert " ever mentioned once during his tenure the Jewish right in international law to reconstitute the Jewish National Home in the West Bank under article 6 of the Mandate for Palestine and article 80 of the United Nations Charter? I would be happy for him or the author of this article to point me to the occasions he did so. Israel's failure to argue its case based on these two fundamental pieces of international law has been nothing short of a national disgrace. I doubt whether the other diplomats mentioned in this article would ever have drawn attention to these cardinal principles of international law. Shame on them all.
52. diplomats say 'yes'--yes but
moron! ,   galut   (06.12.11)
once you say yes the buts dont matter much-diplomats do not fight
53. And we thought the twisters was bad......
Robert ,   farmington,wv   (06.12.11)
And we thought the tornado's was bad when obama told israel to go back to the 1967 lines.. by the way was that the same week. of the tornado outbreak good luck with that come september by the way thats hurricane season...hint..hint I love people claim to be christians but are hell bent on israel destruction , I really believe they are living in a state of delusion.. the world needs to face these facts , the jews are gods people , israel belongs to the jew , and the lord will bring destruction upon these that oppose his people. the palestinians will never accept israel. there charter calls for the destruction of israel and the world wants israel to give land up... ye right..good luck with that. one too.
54. 12.31.2011 is the date
steve from raleigh   (06.12.11)
That Israel must announce is the date that all shared infrastructure services with the Palestinians are severed. Water, gas, sewer, fuel, all of it. They want a country let them make one.
55. Muayyad proposal
Yossef   (06.12.11)
If I could be sure that this proposal is sincere I would agree to it as a basis for future discussions. We need palestinians as much as I think they need us. The present leaders may be not relevant anymore, maybe the palestinian people think differently and want just to get a life?
56. to Harold USA 39
john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (06.12.11)
Just go away-stir shit somewhere else but not on a Jewish site. Enough is enough of your bull shit. And don't have a nice day.
57. This will all end in a huge war
(06.12.11)
58. There is a good reason
Dan the Jafa ,   Jafaland, Aotearoa   (06.12.11)
They are *FORMER* diplomats.
59. #5 The state of Israel did not exist before 1948
BDS   (06.12.11)
3,500 years? Get real!
60. So their answer is surrender quick
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.12.11)
and hope that the terrorists won't demand more. There is a reason why they are former diplomats, it's because they couldn't find their asses with a guide. Concede nothing without standing up and fighting for our rights is the only answer. And there will be no crossing of Israel regardless of what the world thinks.
