Maria ,   Athens   (07.03.11)
Most moderate Greeks, and especially the young generation are very satisfied that the current government decisions and are looking forward to forging new cultural ties with the young Israeli generation. This is a result of the sad realisation that the Arab world carries so much bigotry and backwardness -they are no longer close to our hearts, especially after the recent developments in Egypt which once again brought about unnecessary suffering to the Greeks of Alexandria. To portray the current development as a dirty exchange between Israel and Greece is simplistic and misleading. Let us not be in a state of denial. Yes, there are complex economic and social problems in Greece, and yes, there are complex political and social problems in Israel. But we have gone through hardship before, we are resilient, we shall overcom the current economic instabilitye. Like the Israelis, most of us are well educated, travelled and have an intimate relationship to our heritage. I can see potential for building long- lasting bridges between the two societies which extend far beyond strategic allainces and regional interests.
8. Bravo Greece from Turkey
Mau Thai ,   Turkey   (07.03.11)
Greece knows very well who are Islamofascists inside Turkey. Andreas Papandreou was best friend (brother) of Leftist Ismail Cem(RIP) since many years Ismail Cem has been blamed "Krypto-Jew" by the Islamofascists. Greece(Papandreou) is friend of secular Turks and secular Turkish Army that's why no Aegean military exercise this year. Erdogan's MP Bulent Arinc has said "poor insolvent beggars" to Greece because of Greece's support of Turkish Secularism.

12. Well done Greece!
Sons Of Cyrus   (07.03.11)
Israel has a lot of technology to offer and also great contribution to the economy. Arabs have a lot of oil and hatred of other cultures which have historically proved to be superior than their, including Persians, Greeks and Jewish culture. You have made the right decision to distance yourselves from a culture of hatred and join the forces of good. Thank you for stopping the sailing hate boats.
13. #1 seamongrel, what's your price ?
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (07.04.11)
14. seamongrel, any fool, including you
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (07.04.11)
Should realize why Greece did what she did Turkey has the other half of Cyprus, it's bee an ongoing dispute, the the Greeks despise the Turks who are Muslims, and wanted to get even by helping Israel to do it

18. Greeks
IRV ,   USA   (07.04.11)
Oopa! Good job Greece. Even if what you did was for other reasons. Bottom line is Greece has done what most other free countries have cowered to do. That is to stop arab hate in its tracks or should I say pier. The world is awakening to the truth of arab hatred and imperialist. Intentions.
19. #3, 4 Moshe: fine analysis; now please return to your cave.
Rafi ,   US   (07.04.11)
20. Choosing a winning card
R ,   Israel   (07.04.11)
It appears that both Greece and Turkey have realized that playing the Arab card didn't help them. The western democracies, including Israel, are more likely to show their appreciation for cooperation.
21. LOL
dudi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.04.11)
"Greece’s attitude to Israel remained hostile, and just like Ireland and Portugal it was considered one of the most hostile states to Israel in the European Union." Is it not funny that the 3 places most hostile to Israel - are suffering economically? Well I am glad to say that Greece will now come out of their economic hardships... while Portugal & Ireland still need to change their view of Israel if anything is to change. I for one will do my bit - and my next holiday will be in Greece.
22.  We will boycott Greek.
Salma ,   Palestine   (07.04.11)
23. No22
dudi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.04.11)
You have already boycotted human kind... so i dont think Greece would miss you
24. To Maria #7
Kostas ,   New York, USA   (07.04.11)
I too am glad that Greeks back home have come to these realizations! I know many Israelis and I assure you, we are very similar. They are not the blood thirsty killers the commies there will have you believe. They are just protecting themselves. The past hostility towards Israel was rooted of course to the anti-American sentiments there, but that's another story. I wish there was a settlement for the Palestinians but they have to change their attitude. How can you negotiate with people who are committed to your destruction?
25. No: 22 Salma
Evi ,   Jerusalem - London   (07.04.11)
You must be a good looking blond, otherwise you have nothing else to sell or to offer. I usually have a giggle at your comments and the mixture of your hate and primitivism, but this is just the bottom of the barrel. Your make believe world is really collapsing all around you and you are singing kumbaya my lord... What a sad life you are going through... perpetually.
26. #22 yes you boycot Greece and stop to illegal immigration
Andreas ,   Ellada   (07.04.11)

27. #3 Moshe, you maybe right but

As an Israeli who is Orthodox Christian, I agree 100%!
30. No. 24 Kostas
NYC Girl   (07.04.11)
You actually put your finger on something very interesting in your talkback...and it's the far left's anti-American sentiments being taken out on Israel. In fact, there are those who say that, in the international arena, America doesn't so much suffer because of its close relationship with Israel. Rather Israel's suffers because of its close relationship with America.
