61. interesting story Yahir
Dketerstov ,   Israel   (09.11.11)
we all are happy to hear that you are alive
62. Taking Israeli condescension to new levels - thanks, Yair
Ariel ,   Israel / US   (09.11.11)
Yair - I am an Israeli living in New York and I have to say that all you display in this piece is ignorance and a condescension. This is a huge, complex and diverse country and if you step out of your parochial, Israel-is-the-center-of-the-world mindset, you may learn something about it.
63. And this is from the guy living in BAltimore US
Kill_terrorist_pigs   (09.11.11)
And what did your ancestors did with Indians?
64. Events are escalating and will soon crescendo.
John Prophet   (09.11.11)
The cake is already baked. Nothing more to say.
65. Americans Aren't the Only Ones
Mark ,   Jerusalem. Israel   (09.11.11)
It's not just the Americans who don't get it; it's also the so called leaders of Israel that don't get it.
66. # 28 I get it that you are an idiot
American Sabrah ,   Israel   (09.11.11)
Only an anti Semitic ignoramus fool like you would buy into that tripe that the Mossad were behind 9/11. Blame the Jooooooooos as usual and cover your dear Arab friends asses. You in your infinite stupidity allowed the Arab media to indoctrinate you that we the Jews are the primary cause of all the global issues we face.Or you may be just that much of a Jew hater that you will alliance yourself with anyone who shares your views about Jews. Its really sad that you would still play that game unless you are a rabid anti Semite who will always look for an excuse to blame Jews for anything that goes wrong in the world like most of your ilk does.
67. #3 Jon: So simplistic
Yitzhak ,   Israel   (09.11.11)
If that is your understanding of the Jewish story then you are grossly under-informed. Jews have always been here. This land was never completely empty of Jews, and Jewish communities flourished in Israel for centuries after the Roman destruction. Down through the centuries Jews returned here, either individually or as part of organized efforts. We never were able to reestablish our Jewish commonwealth during those periods due to the anti-Jewish hostility of both Christendom and Islam. The Zionist movement was simply the latest and most organized of these "returns," it succeeded because the historical conditions lined up. So Zionism is nothing really new in Jewish history with one exception: this time it succeeded whereas all other previous efforts did not. All the rest is commentary, now go and learn.
68. Americans don't get it
Tuli ,   Fairborn, Ohio   (09.11.11)
The Israelis don't get it either. The 'have fun' attitude on Dizengoff & the rest of the country when faced with real surviving problems is as idiotic as going to the mall and making consumerism a religion
69. Hard to accept truths
SSutton ,   New York   (09.12.11)
The sheer number of Americans I have encountered who are convinced that 9/11 was a conspiracy conjured up by the American government sadly proves Lapid's point. As an American, I have to regretfully agree that 'American's don't get it."
70. # 14 you'll be surprised how easy it will be to take arob
Moshe ,   Usa   (09.12.11)
nations down. They are cowards. And one day soon the Usa will do it. Yes they may have the help of other nation(s). But the only way to do it is to bomb their harbors, electrical plants, schools where they teach hate for non-moooslums & their water purification plants too. Moshe
71. Americans have more sense than Lapid
Ilan   (09.12.11)
America readily understood the need to retaliate and that post-Sept 11 was a time to concentrate on eliminating threats and not rationalizing the motives of the attackers. The Israeli left has forgotten some basic survival lessons when they changed discs at Oslo and imported a terror state.
72. to 70
old woman ,   jerusalem   (09.12.11)
dear my son and what you would calleyour post -forgivness or thankfulleness
73. Not allowed to "Get It"
Colin ,   Toronto Canada   (09.12.11)
You Are right, they don't, but you are wrong because it's not their fault. Every American leader that has ever had anything to say about the situation has bent over backwards to avoid insulting or even mildly annoying anyone of the Islamic persuasion. When in actual fact, there is a real religious war taking place whether the US likes it or not. Even now, Obama WILL NOT say the words "Radical Islamic Fundamentalist" and anyone that does is vaguely defined as a racist. How does ignoring the Opponent's reason for wanting to kill you make it any less hateful or easier to defeat? Political Correctness taken to the level of National Suicide. Nobody wants a world-wide conflagration, but the only real future probability IS that conflagration. The real question is, is it better to preempt than wait to get hit. We have a very nasty 25-50 years ahead.
74. To: No. 60
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.12.11)
It's a little hard to travel to a place that does not exist ...
75. To # 44
AlexG ,   USA   (09.14.11)
And your point is? That you are an invading occupier of land stolen from the Indians living on an infrastructure constructed by black slave labor? Why then do you continue to enjoy your immoral gains? Leave the US which you hate so much, or prove yourself another liberal hypocrite.
